that sentencing hearing wrapped up right here just a short time ago. it was a very emotional hearing. i can tell you that people were hugging and they were crying when this maximum sentence was handed down, like you said, four life sentences, one of them life without parole. what this means is, he will never walk the streets again. he will spend the rest of his life behind bars. let's show you some video from some of these scenes. the judge said that he murdered his victims in cold blood when life got too tough for him. he decided to solve his problems by killing people. we heard from the wife of malcolm who was shot at montgomery mall when he tried to stop him from

woman. she described her husband for a pillar of strength. we heard from the daughter of paw lena, she was a 65-year-old nursing assistant, immigrant working hard just to provide for her family, he shot and killed her right there at the giant's shopping center. he said he did not deserve parole. let's hear from the state's attorney who said that these crimes took some planning. >> the defense tried to characterize this as a man who had two bad days. if you look at his writings from the time of the protective order and you look at his notes that he left behind, he was planning an plotting what happened. his actual crimes took two days to accomplish, however, he had planned, i think, and prepared for this for weeks, if not months. >> reporter: he sat very quietly in the courtroom today throughout this hour and a half sentencing hearing, not saying a word.

in his hand. again, he was allowed an opportunity to speak, instead, he had someone from his legal team express his sorrow for these crimes. we'll send it back to you. >> thank you, dorsey. police have identified a person of interest. >> they're saying that money may be the reason behind the crime. 77-year-old was found dead in his apartment at the senior center. detectives along with the help of the homeland security, said the suspect flew to vietnam a day after the murder in april. they say the suspect was later found dead. police say they believe the two men knew each other well and they'll be releasing the suspect's identity and cause of death once all the forensic work is finished up. >> storm team 4 is tracking some showers moving into our region and they may soon start to impact the evening commute. >> wash, rinse, repeat, same

amelia draper in the storm center, you got a close eye on the track of this storm. >> absolutely, my biggest concern is going to be along the corridor and parts of northern virginia further to the east, maybe even into prince williams county, the national weather service talking about a severe thunderstorm watch. they're saying, looking at the radar right now, looking outside is beautiful. take a look back to our west, this impressive line of thunderstorm is moving toward the southeast. you can see based on the latest track as it moves to west virginia it continues into mainly parts of northern virginia, potentially into parts of the district and maryland, as well. i think this area that i'm going to circle has the biggest concern for some severe weather this evening, heavy rain and gusty winds. as it moves further to the east, including into the dc metro area, we're talking scattered showers at that point, it's going to lose some of its mustard. 90 degrees. we're totally in the clear for the next few

for a man who is walking into school and child care centers and stealing women's purses. montgomery county police say he's hit nine different schools between may 9 and june 29th. the schools are all over the county, chevy chase, garrett park and silver spring. police say the man stole the purses in cash from unintended classrooms. he's apparently bought more than $13,000 worth of stuff using stolen credit cards. >> everything is back to normal at the bwi train station after suspicious package was found there earlier today. it serves both mark and amtrak trains and it had to be shutdown. it was suspended while police nvrgted. >> first at this at traffic alert that could effect the late night or early morning commute. kennedy center plans to begin repairs next week on the concrete structure that hangs over the parkway. it will start on monday and continue through october. it will take place from

pornography in prince joshlgeor the county. now the school aide wants the state charges against him dropped. he wrote a letter to the judge in this case saying he's not received adequate legal representation. it's been more than a year since his indictment. he was a school aide and he's now charged with taking and sharing cell phone video of children performing sex acts. tracee wilkins has more on the letter and the judge's response. >> reporter: the former prince georges county school aide who was accused of molesting dozens of students had sent a letter to the judge saying he has not had a fair defense and he would like to see all charges dropped in his case. we're outside of the community center where care away taught and directed a choir here. we talked with one of the mothers of the kids who was involved in thatir

showed her the letter. she called it quote/unquote bold. caraway was arrested after cell phone video showed him having sex with a number of students. some of those incidents were recorded in the home of the victim. he said he had not spoken to the attorney who is representing him for more than a year. he's also saying that he believed all charges should be thrown out. he says to the judge, that if his concerns are not addressed his family will go to the mediament he followed that up by saying, this should not be taken as a threat. well, of course, the judge handling this case, had to take what he's saying very seriously and consider what's happened here. she says in the letter responding to him, that he can bring all of this up in court and they'll review it. she also reminded him that he did sign a waiver to a speedy trial. that's one of the complaints saying he should have been tried
