party. the shooting happened late last night in cincinnati. we know at this point no one has been arrested, and police have not done anything about a possible motive for those who might be wondering what a gender reveal party is. it's when a mother who is expecting reveals whether she is having a boy or girl and the story is developing and we'll continue to bring you updates. >> that is so sad. we'll keep our tabs on that. meantime, president donald trump back here in washington, back here at the white house, we see no time discussing the g-20 summit on twitter. >> sending out an array of tweets. here's one of them. i strongly pressed president putin twice about russian meddling in our election and he vehemently denied it. i've already given my opinion, end quote, and then he went on to say we negotiated a cease-fire in parts of syria which will save lives. now it is time to move forward and working constructively with russia. now, this is going to be a very

to see the flames and ran over to this housing and warninged on the door, and the residents were able to get out safely. let's go ahead and show you some of the video from the overnight hours from d.c. fire and rescue. they posted this on their twitter feed. the fire again started here at this hour and then spread and there's another home that's sustained heat damage. now, there were adults and two infants inside that adjacent home. fortunately everyone was able to get out safely. i did speak to the resident of the adjacent home who said that they lost everything and they are blessed to have escaped with their lives. >> the neighbor house next door caught on fire and it moved over to my house, and i just ran back in the house to get my kids and my grandkids out. >> so obviously that woman was very shaken up today and having lost inside their house. they are getting

red cross and i'm told that there were two very small children inside the house. one mom said that she's going to take her child to the hospital just to be sure that the baby is okay and, again, firefighters are still investigating here, but we're being told it's being looked at as suspicious in nature. we'll send it back to you. >> darcy spencer for us live this morning. thank you. prince gorges county police are investigating a downright disturbing case. emotions poured out yesterday morning after ronald pinkney of bowie was found dead. his stepson nevar beverly is accused of killing him and posting a selfie with the body on social media. police say when they arrived at the home where the crime happened, beverly took off and then he ran away. beverly was eventually caught and arrested. beverly and his stepfather had a rocky relationship. what we're seeing in terms of conduct and terms of social media, it's disturbing, and as i said before about, i would not be surprised if our community doesn'tun

people are finding themselves in a place where they are resolving a dispute and ending up with a death. >> pinkney was a fixture in the neighborhood, we're told. neighbors calling him friendly, and the kind of neighbor that you would want. beverly has past run-ins with the law including a first-degree murder charge. now a lot of you were talking about this one on social media yesterday when it first broke. well, this morning, we've gotten new details in the deadly shooting near the georgetown waterfront. we've since learned that the victim killed was a teen. his name kennedy javier amaya-olivares. he's 19 from severen, maryland. all of this started before 3:00 start morning. police found the two shot on water street right under the whitehurst freeway. they are still trying to figure out who is behind the shooting. >> 23 poem were arrested. several others in the hospital th m

crashed and died in the pacific ocean, but now 80 years later take a look at this photograph because they believe that this photograph, which was found buried in the u.s. archives, may be a clue, the key to what happened to earhart. they say that in fact it shows she survived that crash. news 4's tom sherwood shows us what they have uncovered. >> reporter: a constant crowd visits the amelia earhart exhibit of the smithsonian's air and space museum. the famous pioneer aviator disappeared 80 years ago trying to be the first woman to solo fly around the earth. >> this is one of the great mysteries of the 20th century. what happened to amelia earhart. >> curator dorothy dock ran has her own pilot's license and handles unending questions about earhart. >> it's a very popular person disappearing off the face of the earth, literally. >> reporter: now a history channel documentary airing sunday and assisted by nbc, points to new evidence uer

the u.s. archives. the photograph, according to facial imaging tests, appear to show earhart and her navigator fred noonan on a dock next to a japanese ship. the documentary suggests it's the strongest evidence yet that earhart survived her crash and probably later died in japanese custody. >> none of that has been explicitly defined, so this adds another layer. it's another tool in their investigation. >> at air and space, families are drawn to the story. 11-year-old jason carpenter studied her in school. >> when she crashed, that like everyone thought that she died and no one ever knew. >> reporter: and javier orlando said his daughter maya prompted their visit today. >> when we were looking around all the astronauts, she was asking, like, why are they all boys so i wanted to show her that boys can actually do anything that boys can. >> reporter: amelia earhar

sea and eventually the winds will come back to the south. and the return of humidity towards the middle parts of the week. temperatures right now are mostly in the mid-70s across the region and 71 in vienna and 74 already in croston. so it's a very nice day to be on the outside. temperatures today and will stay a little bit on the cooler than average side. 86 today and 89 tomorrow with low humidity both today and tomorrow. but, as we get into the middle parts of the week. starting on tuesday. it's going to get hot and 96 and i don't think much of a storm chance on tuesday evening and by wednesday and thursday, still, temperatures in the mid-90s both afternoons and there will be an increasing chance for afternoon thunderstorms starting on wednesday and probably peaking on thursday and friday so it's going to be some very warm weather and we're wondering what next weekend is going to look

coming up at 9:30 on this sunday morning, an early morning fire on wheeler road in southeast being investigated as suspicious. no one good hurt but the flames, they moved quickly. spread from one home to the others. >> coming up at 10:00, news 4's darcy spencer joining us live with details about the investigation. she's also speaking to neighbors who are trying to clean up. >> a disturbing case in bowie, maryland. they say nevar beverly is accused of killing his stepfather ron pinkney and posting a picture of the body on social media. >> so disturbing. >> all lanes on the beltway back open this morning. yesterday this is what it looks like, all right. just stepped right there. stand still for hours, and an rv caught fire and took crews nearly two hours to get that fire out. that's the aftermath right there. fortunately no one got hurt.

largest city under isis control. nbc's foreign correspondent matt bradley now is going to take us through what has been really a nine-month battle. he takes us to the front line. >> reporter: guns that once shot to kill now fire in celebration. iraqi soldiers feel victory in mosul is imminent. days ago nbc news crews were on the front lines of the iraqi troops as they pinned down the remaining isis fighters until their last few square yards of the city. the group announced over social media that they will fight to the death. that's because mosul is co. it's were abu bakr al baghdadi announced the so-called caliphate three years ago. this iraqi soldier said al baghdadi vowed he'd never give mosul back. look where we're standing now. across the middle east isis is on the run. u.s.-backed troops have surrounded the group's syrian capital of raqqa, but isis still has small towns in eastern syria and western iraq, but

the prize. by far the largest city under isis control. this woman says no one suffered more than the people of mosul. tell that to the world. the fighting left nearly a million people homeless and leveled a huge city, but those are problems for tomorrow. today iraqis are looking forward to a hard won victory. matt bradley, nbc news. >> a 22-year-old man from texas killed on a greek island. now eight people, eight, have been arrested in his death. those suspects are expected to face homicide charges. police say bacarri henderson of austin was beaten to death outside of a bar after a brawl this. happened on one of the islands. henderson just graduated in may from the university of arizona. police say they are still looking for more suspects in that attack. former maryland congresswoman donna edwards is pleading with lawmakers to save the affordable care act. for her she says this is a

and a "washington post" op-ed she announced she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. she found out about that diagnosis last june while still in office. edwards is worried she and others with pre-existing conditions will lose health care coverage if republicans repeal and replace the affordable care act. political donors could soon have less influence in the district. starting tomorrow d.c. lawmakers will begin discussion on measures that would limit the awarding of government contracts to woelty donors. council member charles allen is holding a hearing on four different bills having to do with finance reform. he says it's important to hold candidates and elected officials to a higher standard of accountability. you know freedom plaza, often the site of protests, but this weekend it was about giving back to those who have served our country. yesterday was the 12th annual feed the homeless community awareness day. this year's theme serving our homeless veterans. they were able to receive free health care screenings and get

them back on their feet. the chuck brown foundation and pep rally for peace in the streets organized that event. police have identified the man who was killed in a shooting in greenbelt. officers found the man on saturday night. the man from d.c. tied at the hospital. police are now looking for the person who shot him. want to bring you up to speed with new details in that deadly single car crash. this was in oldtown. you might remember we first told you about this yesterday morning in breaking news. well, we're now hearing that a 24-year-old from silver spring died in the crash on south henry street in alexandria. a 24-year-old from fairfax is in the hospital with serious injuries. as for the driver. police say the person had minor injuries and didn't need any medical help. that driver is now charged with dui, and he's being held without bond. >> your time 9:36 on this sunday morning. looking nice outside right now. you're going to need a few

let's take you out to l.a. firefighters spent the night putting out these massive flames. these are in northridge. nearly 100,000 people across the san fernando valley left in the dark. that fire started just before 7:00 last night and then knocked out power across the valley. the temperatures there have been in the upper 930s. >> the actor best known for playing lafayette reynolds on the hbo series "true blood" has died. nelson ellis died saturday after complications of heart failure.
