with what's happening. justin, good morning. >> reporter: eun, good morning. we're being kept back a bit. they want to remove the trailer portion from the roadway. that's a pepsi trailer back there. inside, lots of burned up soda cans and that structure is totally damagedment look down a bit, perhaps you'll see it's missing tires in the back. that fire broke out close to 3:30 this morning. the inner loop, we're seeing movement here. it's been slowing down at portions over the course of the morning. those left lanes are moving towards pennsylvania avenue. however, there's a right lane where you're going to find that tie-up and cleanup. the crews telling me that one issue will be moving that entire trailer structure because it is so damaged because the wheels are kind of damaged as well. it won't be an easy haul out of here. it could have issues as they move the structure out to get it of

that could be where the next tie-up comes this morning. back to you. >> justin, thank you. developing right now, prince george's county police are still looking for clues in suitland. this happened near a busy strip mall and near the census bureau. the shooting was in one of the alice. one of the victims ran into the popeyes. no word on a suspect or motive. >> a trooper is recovering after a suspected drunk driver hit his cruiser. the trooper was on a traffic stop early sunday morning in lanham. police say a truck hit the back of his cruiser. the trooper is out of the hospital. he's been identified as andrew mitchell charged with driving under the influence. the i-team says this is the 39th incident involving a maryland

last year. investigators could learn how a baby girl died ingatorsburg. her named is brooklyner by. she was in a van. the family may have been living in that van. they were doing an autopsy to determine how the baby died. the man accused of killing his stepfather and posting a selfie with the body could be in court. beverly was arrested in bowie after leading police on a chase. they had been to their home before for violence between the suspect and the stepfather. beverly apparently said to a witness, "i told you i would do it." once we learn more about the court appearance, we'll alert you in the nbc washington app. president trump's oldest son on defense this morning. donald trump jr. was promised damaging information about hillary clinton before agreeing to meet

a statement. confirmed that meeting that said the lawyer's statements were vague, ambiguous and made no sense. he went on to say the lawyer didn't provide details or information that reemtlated to hillary clinton. it is quiet on capitol hill right now. but that will not be the case. congress returns from the week long break today. at the top of the senate agenda will be the madison county plan. republicans are trying to figure out how they will move forward. right now they're hoping to hold a vote next week. you can expect protests today as well today. people with preexisting conditions are planning to occupy several offices in opposition to the health care bill. >> it is 6:05. a look at top stories. today marks one year since seth rich was shot and killed. d.c. police believe rich was the victim of a random robbery attempt in the bloomingdale neighborhood. rich worked for the

inconvenience thousands of trains this summer. they were expected to do it over a few years. recently derailments convinced them to push the work up. relief could come for the parents of a terminally ill boy in britain today. a court is expected to rule whether charlie gard can receive treatment in the u.s. the 11-month-old boy has a rare genetic condition. he cannot move his arms or legs or breathe without help. doctors in london recommended he be taken off of life support. his family wants to do experimental therapy in the u.s. two hospitals outside of the uk have offered to do it. but a british court ruled the child could not leave the hospital. >> want to take our son from one hospital where they do a lot of specialties there. it's a fantastic hospital. they're doing great things there. they're not -- the specialists are in america where

go. >> a court will decide whether the family can get charlie help outside of britain. there is new medical research that suggests the experimental treatment could help the university of maryland school of pharmacy will offer training to prepare workers for the medical marijuana industry. it would make the school one of a handful to bring educational standards to this growing industry. classes would be available online. maryland along with 28 states and d.c. have made medical marijuana legal. it's probably a debate that you had every time you go out to eat. how much money to leave for a tip. >> a new study out this morning is showing who is best when it comes to tipping at most restaurants. credit carts.com says men, republicans and northeasterners who pay with a card instead of cash tend to tip a median of 20%. women tip about 16%. democrats, southerners and people who tip

the family of a veteran trooper shot and killed while he was responding to a domestic dispute. this is what we know at this point. it happened in the town of teresa. joel davis was gunned down approaching a house where a woman was fatally shot. the suspect is a 32-year-old justin walters. an army infantryman. he did surrender peacefully. his wife was indeed the one that was found fatally shot at the scene. eun? thank you, angie. our next hometown star. the nba's number one draft pick. the injury that benched the player. wells fargo caught in a multimillion dollar scandal. the deal that could have money going back into your bank account. >> catch up with the ell>en

mollet with more on what's going on. a lot of probable lemts, melissa. a couple of miles ahead of the other problems. a couple of minutes ago. inner loop at landover road. some sort of landscaping. >> looks like it went off to the right side of the roadway. we're getting real backups this morning. you hit this backup and then a real -- you're going to hit another one here. this one is that pepsi truck that burned out overnight. left side here is getting by for both of the crashes. you can see the two different impact here as i mapped out on the beltway. top of the beltway has your typical slowdowns. otherwise, you're looking good in virginia. as you approach dale city, that crash is now out of the way. can we have another day like yesterday? >> we hope so. today, melissa it's going to be similar. it's goingto

traffic is still blocked on the beltway this morning after a pepsi truck crash. >> justin finch live along the inner loop with what we need to know. >> aaron, good morning. best to move that pepsi trailer from behind. it took heavy damage in that fire back there. lots of damage. the structure of that trailer also ruined as well. it's also now missing several wheels. the video from earlier. 3:30 this morning. maryland state police arriving out here. finding that trailer fully ablaze. the good news is the tractor portion was able to disengage from the trailer platform and the driver is okay. no injuries to report here. however, the pli indicatiocompl be moving the tractor-trailer from the scene. heavy damage to the trailer as well. looking live from the beltway

loss of him is unbearable. he was killed in greece. eight people have been arrested he was visiting greece for a fashion photo shoot. he was a recent grad from austin. near a busy strip mall in suitland on silver hill road about 7:30 last night, there was a shooting. one of the victims ran into the popeye's across the steet after being shot. no word on a suspect or motive in the case. officials say someone intepgs ally set this fire at a home in southeast washington. a neighbor captured the massive flames on camera as they shot into the sky early yet morning on wheeler road. investigators are looking to see whether an accelerant was used

into the tunnels. that means service changes for riders starting tonight at 9:00 p.m. with single tracking between friendship heights and medical center and then every weekend in july and the first week of august that suspends service on both tracks. something they have to deal with. >> why they do it when it can hurt you?
