our local affiliate says it was full of ammunition at the time of the explosion. the fbi on the scene right now working with several agencies to figure out what caused the plane to go down. we did hear from a marine spokeswoman who said the plane experienced a mishap but no specific details about the crash. eun, back to you. >> angie, thank you. it's 5:06. years of hard work around the area to attract a new fbi headquarters is expected to end with no winners. they're expected to announce that the government will drop it search for a new location. the move was reported by the "washington post" and washington business journal. fairfax and prince george's county fought to bring the new headquarters to their communities. county leaders believed jobs and businesses would soon follow. chair of the fairfax county board of supervisors released a statement saying in part

penn state. >> prosecutors presented new text messages that show that fraternity brothers tried to cover up april crime. tim piazza died after a night of heavy drinking at a frat house in february. no one called for help for hours. in text messages fraternity brothers say quote, i don't want to go to jail. hazing is a huge thing and make sure the pledges keep quiet about last night and this situation. someone googled how will nine drinks in an hour affect a 200-pound guy. the family's attorney says the new information is heartbreaking. >> find it extraordinarily difficult to hear that and see it in front of their very eyes. >> all of the defendants have pleaded not guilty. the judge will decide whether the case will go to trial. in montgomery county, the sound of planes flying overhead is a lot of headaches for neighbors along the potomac river. our news

the county could take the faa to court because of it. the battle over air traffic noise began when the faa began a new flight path to bwi marshall airport. a new analysis is not giving good news to leaders here in d.c. the financial literacy website ranks the district as the nation's worst run city. it looked at categories to determine the rankings. according to the website, d.c. finds itself with low high school graduation rates and high long-term deaths. napa idaho was ranked as the best run city. if you need a cup of coffee to get your day started, keep drinking. it could help you live longer, too. >> if you can't get through without a cup of coffee in the morning or three, this is according to a new study. researchers followed 200,000 people over 16 years and found drinking coffee was

it was howard county police officers who were involved here. the officers were in frederick county helping with an investigation into a series of burglaries. the howard county officers say they witnessed a crime in progress. that's when the officers tried to stop burglary suspects on manor drive in mt. airy. the suspects tried to ram their patrol car. the officers opened fire. one of the suspects is dead, the other under arrest. the officers were not hurt. new this morning, we're learning what's causing deadly accidents on the roads we take every day to and from work. according to aaa, single vehicle crashes are the biggest cause of highway traffic deaths in our area and around the country. the number of deadly crashes in maryland, virginia and the district are increasing in part because of distracted drivers. metro wants to pull out all the stops to win you back. it's planned a media campaign aimed to thank riders. metro wants to prove the system is r

ridership is way down because of service issues and the now finished safetrack maintenance program. metro plans to hold a regional summit to come up with new ways to get riders to come back to the rails. if you have an e-zpass flex in your car, you could get penalized in if you don't use it in the right lanes. >> adam tuss has more. >> reporter: that's right. you could face a penalty for not carpooling enough in northern virginia. it has to do with this. the e-zpass flex which switches between hov mode and regular mode. if you aren't using it to carpool enough in the express lanes in northern virginia, the state says you could have to pay a $10 fine. this has to do with the fact that the e-zpass flex transponders are more expensive to manufacture, according to e-zpass and that's why, if you're not using it enough, you're going to have to pay the $10 fine to make up

welcome back at 5:40. a u.s. army soldier is accused of trying to support isis. sergeant from hawaii made his first court appearance yesterday. the fbi says he tried to give military documents to people he believed would pass them on to isis. agents say he also pledged loyalty to the leader of isis and said he wanted to kill, quote, a bunch of people. heavy equipment being used in an extensive search fon a farm north of philadelphia. police are looking for four young men who vanished last wednesday. they suspect foul play here. police arrested a
