always have doug's forecast right in the palm of your hand. a woman's march against the nra is making its way through northern virginia. it started following a rally outside the national rifle association today. chopper 4 was above the crowd. there was organized marching today by the people behind in january. they'll march around about nra through fairfax to the department of justice here in washington. northern virginia bureau chief, julie carey is along lee highway along the route julie is using. >> >> reporter: we can't see them now yet. we do expect it to come this way in the next hour or so. now, this morning when things got started across the street from the nra headquarters out in fairfax county, hundreds of people gathered together. not all of them could take part in the march. this heat today has taken a

let's take a look at what it was like out there. this was around 11:30 this morning when they first stepped off and began the march. now, today's demonstration is time to coincide with a protest that's staged every single month on the 14th by northern virginia gun control activists. that date, the anniversary of the sandy hook school massacre. this march has drawn people from across the country. they believe the nra has dominated the conversation about guns for too long now and needs to be more forcefully challenged. among those that came in today, a survivor of the pulse nightclub shooting in orlando. that shooting claimed 49 lives, including two of his friends. >> there's a community of us out here that are done being pushed around by the nra, that are done being scared into thinking that we have to accept the status quo. there's a community of people that want to stand up and do something about it. >> reporter: now gun rights supporters staged

counter demonstration right across the street to the protesters. they tell me gun rights are no different than the free speech rights being demonstrated by the marchers they say all of those rights need to be protegted. as you mentioned earlier, marchers headed all the way to the department of justice. i talked with many of them along the way today. there are various reasons for why they are here. ahead at 5:00, you'll hear from an annapolis woman that will represent her niece who was shot to death five years ago. back to you in the studio. >> all right. thank you, julie. only on news 4, the family of a young woman is on a mission to get a dump truck driver off the streets. that woman was on her way to job interview earlier this week when a dump truck hit her leaving her seriously injured. this happened tuesday on south dakota avenue. on wednesday we learned this is not the first time that driver had an accident involving a pedestrian. news 4 pat collins has been on the story since the very beginng,

woman's family today. pat, tell us about it. >> well, leon, we have two pedestrians seriously injured runover by dump trucks, dump trucks owned by the same company. dump trucks driven by the same man. why is this guy still behind the wheel? let me take you back to the last accident here on south dakota avenue. the victim of the dump track crash has been identified as 23-year-old bianca butler. they say she was walking down south dakota avenue to a job interview when she was hit by this big dump truck. the truck belongs to fort meyer construction. bianca told her grandmother what happened. >> she say he at the stop sign and he didn't stop. that's what she

me off he shouldn't have been driving that car. >> she'll be scarred for life. i'm very angry. i'm not going to say i'm not. >> reporter: you don't think that driver should have been behind that wheel? >> i really say the same thing. he should never be behind the wheel. >> reporter: now, alvarez is still awaiting trial on that 2015 hit-and-run case, the south dakota avenue accident is still under investigation. now, we've called fort myer construction on wednesday. we called him again today, still no response. coming up at 5:00, mothers on a mission, you'll want to see that. pat, back to you. >> pat collins, thank you, pat. maryland state police are trying to figure out what caused a deadly crash in charles county. chopper 4 flew over the scene on rock point road and the accident happened around 11:30 this morning. one person died at the scene and a second person is now in critical condition. let's go to northern

closely watched trial is now in the hands of the jury. >> they're delivering whether the young fairfax employee, park employee, murdered a beloved wedding caterer. the deadly stabbing happened last august during a wedding celebration. vaughn said it was self defense. prosecutors call it murder. northern virginia bureau, david, is live now outside the fairfax county courthouse. david, you sat through some very powerful closing arguments today. >> reporter: pat and leon, closing arguments, that means the last word for both sides here to weigh in before the jury began those deliberations. they started a little more than two hours ago. the prosecution coming out strong. they say that kempton vaughn who at the time was working for the fairfax parks authority they say he was the aggressor in all of this. they say he was antagonizing the wedding party. they say he's the one that went after her, pulled a knife out of
4:09 pm
i want you to read along with me and hear what the prosecutor had to say. it's a 3-inch blade he stuck it into her. he was going for death. his attorney says no way, arguing, this was all self defense for his client. he says, johns attacked bonds and she launched herself at him. he was on the receiving end of felony strangulation. he had been the victim of verbal assault. you can see two very powerful back and forth arguments, one pushing for self defense, the other saying that bonds was the aggressor here. this is a courtroom, i can tell you, that is packed full of emotion inside from both sides and the out come could be one second degree murder, it could be a lesser charge of manslaughter or he could be acquitted of all of this, leon. >> okay. you've got a sense of the testimony and the evidence here and the sense of how it feels there in that courtroom, what's your sensory or what it's your take on whether or not this is actually going to end up in a murder conviction here.
4:10 pm
days of testimony and a lot of evidence going forward. i've got to tell you. it's going to be really tough for the prosecutors here, they are facing video evidence and audio evidence. video that was recorded by bonds himself and it shows, what seems to be a very heated crowd, yelling a things at him, saying things to him that he says were threatening and comes across that way when you listen to the video, too. it's something the jury is going to have to see pass if they're going to go ahead with that full murder charge. if they had a question a short time ago, the judge referred them back to jury instructions, we'll be back in the courtroom to see when they'll come to a verdict. >> reporting live. a russian american lobbiest attended that 2016 meeting that president's eldest son had with the russian lawyer. another change of the account of that meeting, which was described as part of a russian government effort to help trump's campaign. rinart has been report today have

be certified for the use of contraception. there's evidence it may even be more effective than the pill when it comes to preventing pregnancy. here is how it works, first a woman answers a series of health questions, including the date of her last period and how long her cycle usually lasts. then she takes her temperature with the basil thermometer every morning and enters that into the ap after considering all of that data, then the app let's you know if you're having a green day or a red day. green meaning, you're not fertile and can't get pregnant, so it's okay to have sex. so red day meaning you should use protection. a swedish couple, who are both scientist, created the app. >> we created natural cycles based on our own needs for an effective natural birth control method. >> 75% users use it to prevent pregnancies and 25% use it to get pregnant. >> natural cycles conducted a
