continues to reform down around fredericksburg, take a look here. we saw a very strong storm around annapolis, that is now moving across the bay, in towards parts of carolina county. new severe thunderstorm watch for them, warning for them along the eastern shore there. once again if you're heading to the beach, yeah, you might want to rethink that just a little bit. down to the south, charles county under the gun. very heavy rain, right along 301. some lightning with this storm that's going to move right over, look at that storm right there that's moved over the bay. getting hit hard, as well. this will move right into king george county, as well, over the next half hour to hour. we've seen a lot of damage, a lot of trees down, a lot of power outages.

now, to the storm damage, take a look at this scene. 30 second street in northwest dc. a huge stree slammed on top of cars and home just about an hour ago, forcing everyone out of the house, nobody was hurt here. we're told the tree knocked down utility wires and we're getting reports of power outages throughout our region. news 4 stone continues our coverage from the scene. >> moments ago, i just received an update from dc fire ems stating that in northwest dc in this area relatively near military road. there are trees down, but they say this one behind me is the worst. you can see this tree is now fallen. it's on top of a subaru and if you move to the lit -- little to the left, it hit this house and then to the right, to the left, you'll see it also hit that house. the homeowner was inside the home with his wife, all of a sudden, he heard a b

the same driver was involved in a second accident earlier this week. left a young woman badly injured. the man injured in the first crash suffered serious brain injuries. pat collins talked with the mothers of both victims who are looking for answers tonight. pat. >> doreen, two people seriously hurt. when you're run over by dump trucks. they're owned by the same company. dump trucks driven by the same man. the victim's families, well, they have some questions. >> went from being a vibrant mountain climbing, swimming, active, energetic young man to someone who was for a season completely incapacitated. >> that's allison zimmerman. it was november 2015 that her 22-year-old son e

over by a dump truck on florida avenue northeast. . he's a warrior. he has a ton of courage. we've still got a long way to go. >> charged with hit-and-run in that case. ismael alvarez. while he was out awaiting trial for that. sources say alvarez was involved in another serious accident. it happened last tuesday. alvarez, they say, was behind the wheel of another fort meyer dump truck when it ran over a woman on south dakota avenue. she's been identified as 23-year-old bianca butler. she told her family the truck ran a stop sign and hit her in the crosswalk. family wants to know while alvarez was still driving dump

trucks. >> when on top of the damage that you call in his family, you're under criminal investigation. >> now, we've tried, but so far no response from fort myer construction. alvarez still awaiting trial in that 2015 hit-and-run charge in the south dakota avenue accident, well, that's still under investigation there's a lot more to be known here. >> collins reporting live. >> hundreds of protesters are marching 28 miles into dc, first in blistering heat today and now in the heavy rain out there, all to protest the national rifle association.

are leading a two-day long demonstration against the gun rights group. this all started outside the nra headquarters in fairfax, virginia this morning and it's set to end late tonight at the department of justice. northern virginia bureau chief has been following along. she reports now from arlington. >> there is per sis stens and resistance, let's keep it up. the reasons for joining this women's march, polly's reason, pictured on a sign she held high. >> this is my niece. she was born and raised in annapolis. >> it's been five years since sarah was shot to death by a boyfriend while away at grad school. the message from peters and the other demonstrators, well, the nra might have dominated the conversation about guns in the past, their voice is growing. intensifying. >> there's going to be no piece in my li.

there isn't. >> the nra long silence. the minneapolis man was shot by a police officer during a traffic shot, a registered gun owner, said he had a weapon in the car. >> it's so important that the nra show their support of castile and the fact they haven't, shows, there's real and systemic racism and that is a problem. >> where was the nra statement for that. this is not right. we're still invisible to them. >> just across the street from the demonstrators, gun's right group called patriot. there's some common ground, some of their signs mourn the pulse nightclub victims. they say the problem is not with guns. >> the person has violence in their body, they're going to have a gun, bat, use a car run over police officer, run it into a group of people. we have a societal problem, not a

started the day talking about resistance, it took a lot of r persistence to keep marching enduring both high temperatures and then a thunderstorm. in arlington, julie carey, news 4. >> chopper 4 flew over the scene of a deadly crash in charles county. it's still not clear what caused it but we know what happened before noon on rock pount road. >> in the developing story, we've been sharing this story on our facebook page, a camel attack. that's in charles county fairgrounds. investigators tell us a camel bit and trampled a man this afternoon. he's been air lifted to maryland shock trauma center. a circus is in town performing at the fairgrounds and the victim is the camel's handler. he has a head injury and we're

condition. >> a former con gragsal staffer indicted for new photos and videos of a delegate and her husband on line. joins us now with the detail of how. >> the alleged target was not named in the indictment. but congressional delegates released a statement last night thanking police and saying she was the victim of egregious acts. so according to investigators here is how it unfolded, mccollum offered to help his boss. he took the phone to an apple store in dc. authorities say the device had the images on it that would later be linked on line. prosecutors allege mccollum created hot mail and facebook accounts under a fake name then sent the images to politicians, reporters, and other people who knew the

he even friended the challengers in her upcoming primary contest. now, a couple of years ago, mccollum was featured on the hills a most beautiful people list and about 10 years ago he appeared on a reality tv show on vh 1 called, i love new york. grand jury has charged with two counts of cyber stalking. a second staffer has also been indicted for obstruction of justice and lying to police as they were investigating this case, doreen brown lewis pleaded not guilty. she'll be back in court next week. >> attacked on the job. up next the new clues as police searched for a man who beat a driver while bus was in motion. >> jury deliberations underway, that wedding day murder case, a caterer stabbed to death after heated confrontation. the suspect has te r tesfied ti

we still have our eye on this weather day. look at this new video coming in. this was a fire that was sparked by a lightning strike. they tweeted out this video. this is from northwest. the roof deck on this structure caught fire, but right now everything is under control and the good thing is no one was hurt. >> doug and amelia are in storm center four with a look at what's happening right now and what we can expect from the weekend ahead. >> hi, guys. >> i'll tell you what, the weekend ahead looking quite nice. we're still tracking that line, strong storms all moving down in southern maryland. most of us now out of the watch. >> most of us are in the clear now for severe thunderstorms. the humidity level, they're still pretty tie. >> we could see another warning there. but notice around the dc

area, seeing some rain. it's coming down pretty good in places, but down to the south, saint mary's county, charles county, around leonard town, colonial beach that's where the storm is right now. crossing over the patomic and make its way into southern charles and in towards central saint mary's county over the next hour or so, another storm back to the west just south still making its way in here. that's part of the same line that came through our region a little bit earlier. the storm it's still back to the west making its way our way. we can see a couple of showers maybe a rumble of thunder. we're no longer worried about at least nothing like what we saw earlier where we had numerous trees down in parts of fairfax

county. >> well, not quite, but it will be a lot better. taking a look at what you can expect from this weekend humidity wise. >> over night tonight into tomorrow morning, we'll start to see the levels come down. it's still going to be muggy out there tonight. as we see the evening we're on and rain moves out. . so this afternoon, you can see our humidity levels in that oppressive range, for the weekend, only a little bit humid feeling much more comfortable than we have been the last few days. next week, the humidity returns, but your saturday, again, the humidity levels lower over night tonight into tomorrow morning. we start off at 75 degrees not super comfortable. but, doug, i think we can agree it's better than

>> what a difference it makes, too, you know, 90 degrees and 100 degree heat index, that's a lot different with that lower humidity. it's going to be comfortable. that's what we expect. average high temperature 89 degrees. . if you think about. look at thursday and friday. high of 97. but the pattern sets up here, the pattern sets up here to be even hotter than we were today and yesterday and we hit 97 both days. we could be around 100. that's something we'll really watch. look at 98 degrees next sunday. if you're heading to the beach, a little bit of relief out there, i think we'll see a pretty good forecast out

a jury in fairfax county has been deliberating kemp ton bonds's fate for nearly five hours now. he's accused of murder stabbing a caterer to death during a wedding last summer. >> david cull ver is at the white house. >> leon, and doreen if you've been following me on twitter this is the third question now in as many hours. this third question has to do with voluntary manslaughter. this may give us an idea to what

one before that was asking about involuntary manslaughter, they seem to be focused on manslaughter. that being said, they're going through a lot of evidence, four days worth of testimony, all of that evidence and today, alone, they had more than two hours for some emotionally charged closing arguments. >> jurors sent into the deliberation room with video, evidence to watch over and over. >> go away until we got done. >> i haven't moved. i've moved from there to here to there. >> i'm about to -- you up and i swear to go on my wedding day. >> reported last august. the then 19-year-old park employee supervising a clean up of a wedding, the prosecutor telling jurors, he is taunt egg them and antagonizing them. listen to their tone. condescending the prosecutor argued. these people to him were beneath him. towards the end of the nearly seven-minute video, the deadly encounter, the wedding cater, johns comes face

he was hoping they would be wrapped up by today. he knows of course he can't rush it. he'll reassess it over the next hour or so and keep you posted, doreen. >> david cull ver, a police officer's colleagues are pulling together after an explosive house fire shook a montgomery county neighborhood over night. the fire started outside the officer's home on haney avenue. and spread to a police cruiser parked in the driveway. am hue in addition stowed inside that patrol car, exploded. the house was engulfed in flames. the officer and his wife were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, but they escaped serious injury. investigators are still working to learn what caused the fire. their job is complicated by the extensive damage. the officers colleagues are holding a fund-raiser for the family and we have a link to that on our app. >> what you're seeing here is the video first on news 4 of a confession caught on camera inside a montgomery county bus. this man

attacked another driver and now police need you to help you find him. derrick just spoke to the victim. >> this attack happened when the bus was moving? >> indeed it is. >> reporter: it happened just back here. we're outside a shady grove station. and there are two instances here, one where the video failed, but another where the video surveillance is on board these buses did indeed come through and authorities are hoping that that incident will help them bring a man accuse of assault to justice. >> stitches, swollen eye and a cast on his arm. montgomery county driver, has yet to heel from the injuries. police say they came at the hands of this man seen on another bus shortly after the attack, in which words quickly turned to blows. they reigned on the driver while the bus was still moving with other passengers aboard. >> he punched,

how many times, i don't remember. >> he does remember trying to use a radio phone on board the bus to call for help. instead, police say it was used on the driver as a weapon. >> the suspect grabbed the phone from the bus driver and began assaulting him with the phone. >> attack continued. >> i stopped the bus and opened the door. >> as when the suspect got off the bus and got away. amazingly, that same suspect boarded another ride on the bus short time later. again, he's talking to the droo driver but it's a completely different. >> i do not believe the bus driver had any knowledge. >> it was captured on video surveillance on board the bus. unfortunately the cameras on the bus where the driver was attacked weren't working. they were asking for anyone who may have taken the ride on tuesday around midnight on the 55 route between rockville and german town. >> if anybody recognizes the suspect we're asking to call our detectives. >> aou
