news 4 at 6:00 starts now. it was a popular place to cool off in the heat of summer. tonight, it is the scene of tragedy. good evening. i'm erica gonzalez. a child is one of two people killed when flash flooding poured into a crowded swimming spot in central arizona. eocal sheriff's office says two more people are missing. one of them just 2 years old. we are told more than 100 people were in the swimming hole yesterday afternoon. the flooding came on so quickly because wildfires recently torched the forest that would have slowed the rain down. meanwhile here in our area a much different weather story. we want to show you some live images of the washington monument this evening. temperatures danced around the 90-degree mark, but emilia draper says there is a weather change in store for us that a lot of folks won't be very happy about, right, mel? >>

we enjoyed temperatures today that were around 90 days. guys, if we can hop on to max 2, that would be fabulous. right now we're on max 1. this is the first weather headline. the humidity returns overnight tonight and it greets us tomorrow morning as we head out on our monday and we will be dealing then with the humidity for the rest of the workweek. not only that, but the heat really starts to build up. since we aren't heading to max 2, let's not try to change it at this point. the second headline, there is a chance of thunderstorms later in the day tomorrow as well as tuesday. coming up in my full weather, i'll have more on that and the future weather hour by hour throughout the day tomorrow. wind storms are most likely in your area and erica, wednesday, that's when we really start to see the heat move into the area. the furnace will be on in full effect by midweek. >> thank you, ma'am. we will see you then. it has been a deadly weekend on our roads.

the road was closed on october court this morning. she was a passenger in one of the cars. investigators say both drivers stayed on the scene. in northern virginia, an l alexandria man was killed on duke street. at first it appeared to be a minor crash with little damage to the car and said the driver, 22-year-old zain siddiqui was conscious when he arrived at the scene, but he died a short time later at the hospital. the white house has been rocked by revelations the president's eldest son met with a russian lawyer during the presidential campaign and a health scare involving an influential senator is putting plans to pass a healthcare build on hold. nbc's jennifer johnson wraps things up from capitol hill. >> reporter: protesters and cheers as the president attends the women's u.s. openol
