actor martin landow. and new details tonight after a run away boat throws people over board and spins out of control. he was found on the street and wouldn't respond. he later died. good evening. new tonight police are investigating a homicide. the victim was discovered on 60th avenue. news 4 darcy spencer is on-the-scene with what we're learning about this case tonight. darcy. >> reporter: well, erika, prince george's police still have a murder mystery on their hands tonight. in fact they still have not received any missing persons reports. one neighbor tells me tonight she heard a car drive off at a high rate of speed early this morning, and late tonight i spoke to

the body. residents in this quiet riverdale heights neighborhood were awoken early sunday with some startling news. >> well, one of the neighbors that live around the corner here came and knock on my door this morning and told me there were police out here and they found a body on the street. >> reporter: i spoke to the man who discovered the body. he provided news 4 with this photoy. we blurred out the victim's body, but it does show medics on scene. >> it's really scary. >> reporter: police say they have no idea who the man was, where he was killed, or how he ended up here. but they do know he was murdered. he had suffered trauma to his body. he was pronounced dead at the hospital. >> i was just thinking how did that happen here? >> reporter: marty newhouse the head of the association

>> reporter: it certainly was. now prince george's county police telling me tonight there was no indication this man had been sexually assaulted. they also want to emphasize the fact they have very little to go on in this investigation. they need people to come forward, provide information if they saw anything, and certainly come forward if you have any idea who this man was so they can notify his family. >> dparsy spencer, live in riverdale heights. thank you. earlier this week chief hanks announced officer shifts will be extended to 12 hours. we've got a map showing the locations of those 12 homicides and this one day in riverdale heights. just open our nbc washington app to see that map. now to that breaking news from the entertainment world.

the temperatures even harder to deal with. and with that introduction, here's storm team 4 meteorologist amelia draper with what we can expect this week. >> well, it's not unusual we're talking about sweltering heat and unbearable mugginess here in the d.c. metro area. as we start the workweek, it's going to be humid. greeting you tomorrow if you haven't been out tonight, well, the mugginess is already setting in. tomorrow feeling like temperatures in the mid-90s. by wednesday it starts to feel like we're in the upper 90s. and then thursday and friday feeling like temperatures are around 100 decrease. how do we know how hot it's feeling outside. ? well, we look at the dew point temperatures for the amount of moisture in the air. that's where we were this weekend. this is

surgery. >> oh, my god! a wild, scary scene at lalake in indiana this weekend. a power boat spins out of control. the ten people onboard all thrown into the water. nbc carry sanders has new details on what went wrong and who could be to blame. >> reporter: a frightening scene, a 21 foot motorboat spinning out of control and no one's behind the wheel. the chaos unfolded when police say the 21-year-old who was operating the boat hit a high rate of speed and hit a violent turn. by the time help arrived, the boat was stalking like a motorized shark making circles at 30 miles per hour. a sheriff's deputy throwing a rope to entangle the boat's propeller.

officer's patrol boat. >> what are they doing? >> reporter: another officer on a jet ski leaps onto the boat, finally bringing to a stop. >> once it was close enough, it was just a matter of stepping into that boat. >> reporter: authorities say alcohol was a factor. the boat's operator was arrested and faces charges. carrie sanders, nbc news. tonight we're also learning more about a deadly accident in alex swrandria. police now looking into whether the driver experienced some sort of medical emergency. police said at first it appeared to be a minor crash with little damage to the car. but the driver, 22-year-old zane suzeky, died a short time later at the hospital. a popular pool in north county has been

woman who did so much. she was just 21 years old when she was killed in a traffic accident back in 2002. she was a swim coach at the western county outdoor pool and on the way to that facility when this happened. those who knew her said her influence will not be forgotten. >> she actually built our spirits. she actually motivated us to be stronger and better than what we are. >>shield be overwhelmed and extremely happy plus a little embairsed and say why are you making all this fuss about me. >> since her death, hundreds of young swimmers have received scholarships in her name. there are also making stops at medical center and bethesda, and that's because

no matter how the competition ends three days from now memberoffs a robotics team from afghanistan are already feeling like winners. the 16 age girls were greeted with thunder s applause and cheers when they were greeted today at constitution hall. they arrived in d.c. less than 38 hours ago to take part in an international competition involving more than 150 countries. it took a lot of wrangling to

of afghanistan, six teenage girls measuring, testing, and building a robot. here only one in five girls makes it past middle school. but she wants to set a different example. >> i want to show them nothing is impossible. >> reporter: this team is entering the first world war challenge. like designing robots to clean contaminated water. >> teams coming here to address a common problem. >> reporter: after spending months building their robot, all six girls packed into a taxi making the five 500 mile trips to get a visa. each time they were denied. afghanistan is not one of the six mostly muslim countries under the

books of poetry and peace activism. today his mom put on an event she's calling the 2017 peace party, signing copies of matty's books. matty's mom says she wants her son's message to go national. >> matty only lived 13 years. matty's been gone almost as long as he was here, and look at this. his message is growing. people want peace. people need peace. >> the matty's to panic convention was put on today. beltway drivers take note. a new enforcement program begins tomorrow to crack down on drivers who speed through work zones in maryland. this is an ongoing effort to prevent crashes. this time state officials will be setting up

cameras along the beltway. this is where crews are doing work on the bridge. the speed on the beltway is 55. well, starting tomorrow drivers caught going 12 miles per hour or over that will get a warning. and then starting july 7, drivers will get a ticket. >> as a resident, i want to feel safe. and it's also nice to walk around and see it's clean and people care for it. >> sure it is. as many as 80 volunteers came out this afternoon and brought their sunny attitudes with them. often breaking out in cheers and had their signs. it was a great day to be

outside. and it was a beautiful day. high temperature, 8 # degrees. and as i mentioned earlier, if you haven't been outside yet, the humidity is back and here to sfa throughout the workweek. there's a chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms, that threat, tethough especially tomorrow looking pretty low. as we look to wednesday and beyond, well, it's all about the heat and humidity. we're talking 90s by wednesday. 73 in frederick. 7:00 a.m., mild start. 75 degrees, plenty of sunshine. clouds increase throughout the day, partly sunny by tomorrow afternoon. by lunchtime, we're in the upper 80s. again, there's a chance of a thunderstorm tomorrow afternoon and evening. can't rule out some heavy rain and thunderstorms that do develop. but, again, most of us i tnk

tomorrow completely dry. 7:00 in the evening, we're right around 85 degrees. i want to show you future weather. i'm starting off at 8:00 a.m. pairbyically clouds. but then you start to see clouds in the area. here we are at noon. and then notice back over the mountains, back out in areas to the west, that's going to be the best chance of where you're dealing with rain and thunderstorms. 6:00 in the evening, maybe some parts here. as we move towards the over night hours, we're dry and not worried about rain at that point. so the commute to work tomorrow for most of us is going to be dry for most of us. if you're heading to ppool, i think you'll be just fine. i wouldn't cancel your outdoor plans tomorrow just for that
