flames coming from the second floor out on to the back alley to the porches back behind these row houses. children woke up sleeping adults in another home. a man who lived here for 30 years right next door says a neighbor called him to get out. >> my neighbor called me next door here at 205. he called me and told me, les, the house is on fire next to you. i got up, looked out and fire trucks everywhere. >> reporter: a bit of good news. some of the neighbors who were looking for their missing pets apparently found one, a cat, this morning. just a short while ago. eight people forced out in all. two firefighters injured. one suffering minor burns. the other suffering from heat exhaustion and both expected to be okay. that is the latest live from d.c. >> molette, thank you. 6:03. developing this morning. health coverage for millions of people is in

affordable care act is dead. news 4's angie goff is in the newsroom with a look at what happened while you were sleeping. angie, good morning. >> good morning to you. simply put, the republicans do not have the votes to move forward. two more republicans came out against the latest health care plan overnight. that means four republicans, four in all, oppose the current plan. now, senate majority leader mitch mcconnell say they will vote soon on a straight repeal of the affordable care act saying, in part, quote, a repeal of obamacare with a two-year delay to provide a stable transition period to provide a senate transitional period for access to quality care. that's what president trump echoed in his tweet posted shortly after the latest defections were announced. to emphasize that will not take effect for two years giving lawmakers more time to create a new system. democrats calling for a bipartisan effort to

that's the latest from the fuss room. eun, back to you. >> angie, thank you. here's a look at the four republican senators opposing the health care plan. the latest senators, mike lee and jerry moran. coming up, mark murray will break down whether republicans have the votes to repeal the health care law. fairfax county police are checking missing persons reports to identify a dead man. he was found in a lake off trinity parkway in ten tremendousville last night. an autopsy should give us a better idea of how the man died. a fisherman found him around 7:30. parents want to know why it took seven months to arrest a former classroom aide accused of creating child pornography at school. this is carlos bell who is accused of abusing students inside benjamin stoddard middle school in waldorf. there will be a meeting tonight for parents. justin finch joins us live with more.

county officials say that cases like carlos bell often take a lot of time to investigate. often going longer than even they would like. now, we have an idea of why thanks to an investigation by our news partners at wtop. now, first a bit about carlos bell. as mentioned, he's a charles county aide accused of assaulting ten boys on campus and also at his home. we know too, that thanks to the wtop investigation that they found a maryland state police crime lab is understaffed and overworked. their workload is set to increase by about 40% this year. they of course are working this case and many others. they currently staff about four people with no immediate plans to hire more workers. now, you will recall that bell is accused of recording the sex abuse on his cell phones. this agency is charged with searching those devices and of course many more. despite t

county state attorney says that he never let up in this case. >> the reality is they don't have resources to get it done for quickly. doesn't mean they're getting things -- they're busting their hump. >> now to that parent meeting set for 7:00 p.m. this evening at the church of st. charles. parents will get pointers about talking to their children about sex abuse. also on hand will be experts to further guide parents on how to speak with their children about cases like this and prevent them from happening to their children. this is being put on by the group women of action. back in to you. justin finch. thank you. benjamin stoddard middle school will host its own meating to get parents more information on this case. the first meeting is next friday, july 28th at 7:00 p.m. at the school. prince george's county

the man's body was dumped off riverdale road early sunday morning. a neighbor found the body. he's a hispanic man between 35 and 40 years old. this marks the 13th in the county since july. since the beginning of the month. prince george's county police have 12-hour shifts for all officers in response to the recent violence. the family of a hit and run victim is urging someone to speak up if they've seen this car. d.c. police say this was the car that hit best of your knowledge us johnson. he was riding his bike near 29th and erie streets in southeast. after spending weeks on life support. johnson died at the hospital on sunday. it's 6:08. a plan to help drivers get between loudoun and montgomery counties quicker is getting pushback. today, the montgomery county council is set to vote on a resolution opposing the potomac river bridge crossing. officials say it's too costly. would create too much traffic and would ruin the agricultural

morning. >> angie, thank you. a search for a missing man believed to have been swept away by flash floods in arizona will resume today. he's been identified as hector gar unique a. he and his extended family came to a swimming hole to celebrate his wife's birthday. nine people were killed by flash flooding. they range in age from 2 to 60 years old. the potential for flash floods will continue through the middle of the week. assisted suicide is now legal in the district. it could be a matter of time before congress steps in to stop that. the death with dignity act became official where doctors can pre skieb terminally ill patients life ending drugs. the patients must be over the age of 18 and have six months to live. they voted to begin the process to repeal last week. it will require the approval of both the full house and senate

about 6:16. there's a new effort today to change bail walls in maryland so more families aren't separated. the group color of change is having a community forum in clinton tonight to look at ways to change the bail system. organizers say a disproportionate share of people who are detained before trial are black and can't afford to bail out of jail. the meeting is tonight at 7:00 in mt. ee nan baptist church. police are hoping you can help them track down this woman. police say a 2-year-old boy was found playing in a parking lot. his 11-month-old sister was found crawling outside of the apartment. when officers knocked on the door, amanda sue allen escaped through a window. police say she's wanted for violating parole. she now faces charges for felony child neglect. the american flag is outside

a racist slur made its way on to walmart's website. there was an ad selling a weaving cat. they noticed the racist color description. it used the n word to describe the cat. walmart apologized and blamed a third party retailer. it is a clear violation of our policy and has been removed. we are investigating the seller to determine how this could have happened. that third-party retailer said someone hijacked its brand to sell a fake version of their cat. 6:56. the senate's health care plan is dead. two additional republicans announced their opposition to the current bill overnight. d.c. fire investigators will find out what sparked a fire. it started inside one row home and eventually caught other homes on fire. molette green will have more on twitter for updates.
