some hit electricians, marvin hammering. >> some of the guys say they got off eight or nine shots, most of them hit me. i looked and saw this sedan right there out of the corner of my eye. i turned my head and i took three rounds in the head and some down my shoulder and my back as i was diving through the door to get away from the fire. the first round hit me i thought it was a real bullet. it burned and hurt and that's when i started to go for the ground. >> reporter: paint ball, paint ball, paint ball, one of the victims, a 72-year-old man who was just out mowing the lawn. he got hit in the cheek in his arm and in his back. we'll hear from him at 5:00, pat, back to you. >> a man is in custody and police are looking for two other people in connection with the

dc police arrested darryn in connection with a gun fight. a one-year-old boy got hit by a stray bullet. the boy has been treated and released from the hospital. but the city's police chief says there were other young people in the area at the time. >> you had three grown man that decided to settle a dispute, with no regard with the fact they were young kids in the area. that kid is going to have to live with that for the rest of his life. >> this is one of the men police are still trying to track down. investigators also released surveillance video of a third person they want to talk to. >> we've just learned some new information about a deadly shooting involving a sheriff's deputy. the sheriff said that his deputies were forced to shoot a driver after they say that driver presented a deadly threat. this happened tlalast night at intersection.

details about what happened there. >> this part of pike near the road is quiet. i mean, there's bails of hay here. you drive down it, you see farms, but what neighbors around here saw last night was entirely different. when they saw a mini van here late last night. virginia state police is handling the investigation. they say the culpepper sheriff's office got a 911 call for domestic assault at a house. deputy saw the suspect near the town of culpepper and tried to stop him. deputies chased him for several minutes on till clarks vehicle was stopped at griffinsburg road. here is the story, they tell us, that their deputies tried to make a traffic stop and that the driver presented a dangerous threat and that their deputies responded by

that driver. so still a lot of questions about what exactly that dangerous threat was. state police say clarks shotgun was recovered at the scene. neighbors around here who heard the gunshots and saw all of the police activity all night want to know what happened. >> of course i'd like to know and get to the bottom of what actually happened because it concerns me because it's my community and it makes me nervous. >> the deputies who were involved are still on the job. their duties are what the department calls modified, what those responsibilities will be in the days going forward has yet to be determined. in culpepper virginia, kristin wright, news 4. well, it's been another busy afternoon and storm center 4, one minute it's sunny. the next you can see heavy rain. >> that's the perfect recipe for nice muggy summer day. let's go storm chief doug cammerer, another repeat of yesterday.

the same locations as it was yesterday back towards the mountains and over portions of i-95 seeing that rain again today. the heat index has gotten up to 100 degrees today. it's been on the hot side. here is one little area of storminess of just west of 95. you can see it moving to the west and continuing to develop, another line back along i-81 and around the front royal region. you can see it seeing pretty good storm. one right along 66 and then watching this area right here, right along the beltway and 270. 270 is seeing some fairly heavy rain right around rockville. making its way back to the west and continuing to form, so, again, this is something we'll continue to watch. this is all part of a system that's just sitting on top of us right now. we'll see more showers and thunderstorms during the evening hours and then we're talking the heat, guys. we're talking the hottest temperatures we've sn

i have at least one, one hundred degree day in the forecast. >> all right. thank you, doug. see you soon. you've seen the headlines on your phone all day today. chipotle in northern virginia closes after a number of customers reported systems with the nurovirus. workers at this sterling, virginia location are wiping tables down and sanitizing the dishes. news 4 chris gordon spoke to a man who said he ate there and was sick for days. chris is live now outside the restaurant. chris. >> reporter: well, pat, he says he was ill for three days and he tells us exactly what he ate that he believes caused him to become sick. chipotle has closed this one location, voluntarily, this one location in sterling, virginia and is working closely with loudoun county health inspectors trying to get it re-opened soon.

surprised to find the front door locked at the chipotle in sterling, virginia. >> i ran the app to look at this specific location and it said that it was closed. then i came over here any way because i didn't get why it would be closed. >> reporter: the sign on the door says "temporarily closed." employees inside are cleaning, sanitizing and preparing food to reopen. there are reports that some of the customers who ate here since last friday got sick suffering stomach distress. the web site, i was poisoned.com has postings from eight people. saying they ate at the same location in sterling and saying they got sick. >> i ate here on friday at 12:30 p.m. i had a salad bowl with chicken and pico. medium salsa and corn. at about 7:00 on saturday, really bad,

what you always need to make sure you've got working smoke deted detecters in your home. the fire broke out at a home on northern street in northwest dc. it quickly spread to the attic and into two other houses. neighbors also helped alert people who were still sleeping when that fire started. >> that black smoke, oh my god. >> eight people who were displaced by the fire. one with minor burns and the other suffered smoke inhalation. >> swapping out snacks for healthier choices, some vending machines in our area are about to have a much different selection and of course not everybody is happy about it. first at 4, damage controller and major retailer trying to expin how an e fen zif word made its way on to the web site.

former middle school principal is facing charges for assaulting aye

earlier this year. 53-year-old terrence yarborough is accused of slapping the girl on the back end after she refused to pick something up. it happened back in april. the girl told the teacher after it happened. child protective services conducted an investigations. yarborough was charged with assault and battery last week. he turned himself in. you know, when you want a quick and healthy snack, it could be tough to find one when the only option you have is from a vending machine. that's a that's about to change, tracee wilkins explains the change that will be there. >> >> reporter: when you work in an office building like this one, dining from the vending machine is a part of your reality. they want to make sure that their employees and folks that visit county office buildings have healthier options,

50% healthier options, that's going to mean less sugar and less salt and that the healthy options be placed in an area where folks can actually see them. this new legislation passed on the prince georges county council. it was a long road to that legislation passing for folks who support the bill say due to the unhealthy out comes of a lot of residents here and limbed food options, is something -- limited food options is something that this county ne needed. the important of the bill and what it means to them in terms of having options and having opportunities to get healthy food options and vending machines. -- very soon you'll see this happening at library ries in th county, as well.

and continue to see -- yesterday getting hit hard again today, let's take a look and show you what's happening, showing you where the rain is, you can see the rain forming. it's not everywhere. most of us are on the dry side. you see some shower activity around the dc metro area. some showers towards parts of the blue ridge. this is one area that i'm watching here in and around the region, in and around the beltway. these showers have just developed and they're moving off towards the east or towards the west here just a little bit, may be making their way towards the city. this area up here, this is around towards rockville. some heavy rain fall. look at the rain fall here, 1 to 2 inches per hour. that prompted a flood warning. a flood warning right there. you see that green. let's go ahead and zoom

and show you where i'm talking about. flood warning until 10:15, may be rising. we've seen 1 to 2 inches, if you live around rockville or aspen hill or around the kensington area, watch out and turn around, don't drown. and could see some creeks or over coming their banks. now, back to the west, winchester and right along the blue ridge here, we're seeing heavy rain, so slow go of things along i-81 and out 66 once you get past or near the blue ridge. this is all part of the same system that was there yesterday. i wouldn't call it a little bit of a trough right along the east coast. more scattered showers and thunderstorms around the area. you can make a line. look at that line, right there, right along in west of i-95 for the most part and now starting to see some pop up. you can see the dark clouds in towards montgomery county as you look across the city. sitting at

of the south at 8 miles per hour. we're in the upper 90s. -- 91 in huntington. look at the heat index. we hit a hundred in dc area. 102 manasas, 98 over towards cambridge. a very hot and humid day. man are we going to get a lot hotter as you move on through the next couple of days. we have a chance for storms tomorrow. tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. notice nothing going on tomorrow morning and really 2:00, same area right along i-95. tomorrow storms, however, instead of moving back to the west, will shift down to the east, a better chance of seeing some of the storms as we move on through the day tomorrow. high temperatures today, into the low 90s tomorrow. 96 hot and humid with isolated thunderstorms. we'll continue to see that hot and humid condition with a heat index over 100 degrees. take a look at what we're seeing the next couple of days. 99 friday and saturday. 100 degrees comingp

over the past few years, the number of incidents with atv and dirt bikes illegally riding through neighborhoods have increased wanting to send a message by publicly destroying the confiscated vehicles that npd is cracking down on this bad behavior. seems like this group with large groups riding down sidewalks, police have said it was atv riders who shot and killed a local reporter as she was waiting for a bus. over the past month, stacy has confiscated dozens and last week, police released this video of 62 of those illegal vehicles being destroyed at a local scrap yard. but after publicizing the scrapping, why they weren't sold and how much it cost to destroy them. the district paid approximately, $777 to transport those a tvs on large trucks to the scrap yard. now, a spokesman for the police department tells news 4, most of that moneyai

yesterday, right now, this is going to be the case kind of over the next couple of days. not a lot of storms, when you're getting them, they're coming down pretty hard. you see the storms developing and moving out of the montgomery county, prince georges kouny is now flaired up pretty good storm and a couple more back here towards the west again. here is one area that we're watching right around the american legion bridge, right along river road seeing pretty heavy rain along lightning. this area of prince georges county, right around 301 that's got a lot of lightning associated with it. this is going to continue pulse up and down. louden county, prince william county, i think we'll see more development. notice the flood warning in parts right now, that goes until 10:15. >> all right, doug, thank you. six young women from afghanistan have been making headlines here in washington. we've been reporting on the challenges they faced in coming he

robotics competition. doreen caught up with them at the first global challenge and she's here now with their story. they finally made it. >> they finally made it. i've got to tell you, i don't think i've seen anything quite like the scene that's unfolding at this competition downtown. picture constitution hall, so many people are familiar with that from graduation ceremony. picture it downtown, full of teenagers from 160ish different countries. they're all excited to be here. they're all speaking in different languages, all once meeting each other and excited to learn about everyone else's robot creation, it is quite the scene. they've all worked really hard to reach this competition here in washington, but nobody has worked harder than these young women from afghanistan, twice they've traveled 500 miles from their home to apply for visas to visit the u.s. for competition. twice they were denied. president trump intervened at the last minute and the team arrived here very late f

night into saturday morning. it's not that long ago that girls in afghanistan weren't allowed to attend school. it was forbidden. these six young women are just beginning to learn about robotics and engineering, but now here they are competing with the robot they created from a box of parts without any instructions, each team all over the world gets the same becomes. each team is tasked with creating a robot to clean contaminated water. the afghan team said they're learning a lot from the other teams at the competition and they have a message from the world, as well. very interesting girls and i'll have more of the story tonight coming up on news 4 at 6:00. quite an experience for them. >> oh, my goodness. and for me to get to see them and to see this competition in action. >> they're like rock stars now. >> yeah. >> they're asking for their autograph. >> i think they're a little intimidated, ac

saying about the storms moving through montgomery county and what's happening. >> we continue to watch those storms rumbling on through, fairfax county, prince georges county, those are the three counties that have seen the most here. take a look and we'll show you what's happening. these are called pulse thunderstorms. they pulse up and pulse right back down. they send out these boundaries that produce more thunderstorms and that's exactly what we're seeing. you can watch this guy kind of die off and spawn these storms into fairfax county. we're watching another one area of storm right along prince georges county, right along the beltway, back to the west. most of these are dying out, but more developing back towards harding in west virginia. now, here is the storm right over great falls, right over the herndon region, i want to zoom on in so you can see where i'm talking about here. you've got herndon right along route 7. so you've got some heavy rain in that area, look at the lightning associated with that, too, you

right along 193. you have some heavy rain associated with that. more heavy rain back along route 7 and then more down to the south and east. look at prince georges county. inside the district, these are moving slightly to the west. heads up into the district over the next hour, we may see some of those storms we showed you that flood warning that's in effect until 10:15 in portions of montgomery county. watch out tonight for any flooding streams. that includes the area at rockville, over towards the fair land area, as well. now, this is all part of a system and tomorrow is going to move off the coast. what that's doing to mean for us, we'll heat up dramatically. that temperature with the dark clouds in the background sitting at 91 degrees, that heat index has got to 100 today. it is going to get a lot hotter. outside now on the storm team weather. we think we could see quite a few days with a heat advisory over the next few. >> yeah, doug, especially over the
