aaron and eun, senator john mccain's office says that the senator has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor known as a glioblastoma. there are two types of brain teu morse. primary tumors start in the brain, and are rare and more aggressive. this is what he says he has. glioblastomas, sadly are the most aggressive type of primary brain tumor. with this brain cancer diagnosis, senator mccain's treatment is likely to include radiation and chemotherapy. the senator will soon be 81 years old and it is likely that the treatment would begin with radiation. his doctors say he's recovering very well from the surgery that he's had. also, that his underlying health is excellent. so that could certainly work in his favor and eun and aaron, we know that john mccain is quite a fighter. for more reaction and coverage on this developing story, make sure youe

coming up on five minutes after the hour now. also developing this morning, a maryland man charged with shooting a woman during a road rage incident. >> the eisenhower connector off of the beltway in alexandria, justin finch is live to explain how road rage is becoming one of the biggest problems for commuters. justin, good morning. >> reporter: eun, good morning. alexandria police believing they have a local case of road rage on their hands. one that left that maryland woman in stable condition this morning after she was shot here on the eisenhower connector. right over there. her accused shooter is now behind bars this morning. he has been identified as 59-year-old ernest stickel of mechanicsville, maryland. he fled the alexandria crime scene. he opened fire into that woman's suv after she and her male passenger reportedly left that suv and confronted stickel in

wednesday morning. most road rage stays on the road. like this big rig and car going toe for toe in texas. a aaa survey is going beyond here, finding 80% of drivers, more than half reporting they purposely tailgated other cars. 45%, though, took it out on the steering wheel with that angry honking. 33% used angry gestures and 24% even said they tried blocking cars from making lane changes. back out live. aaa also finding some 7.5 million drivers admitting their road rage did boil over into physical confrontations. that is not all that uncommon but more perhaps common than you would likely think. more drivers are on the roads this summer. it's something to think about as you get behind the wheel. we're live in alexandria. justin finch, news 4. back to you in the studio. >> justin, thank you.

developing this morning, a man has died after a shooting in the forest glenn area of silver spring. it's on belvidere boulevard. it's between georgia avenue and slago creek. someone inside that home called 9-1-1. a gunman came into the house, shot a man and ran off. that man died at the hospital. right now, prince george's county police are giving you real-time updates on their officers' 12-hour shifts. here are tweets they put out while you were sleeping. they tweeted the aftermath of a dui accident and arrest. roll call as well as a hit and run bust. grade tampering allegations will likely be front and center for one of our area's biggest school districts. ceo kevin maxwell is meeting with the delegation for the maryland house of representatives. it is an open meeting at prince george's community college. it was scheduled before news broke. governor hogan wants

new video of major flooding out west. look at the rushing waters in arizona. it's reaching 8 feet in some places. after the this hour, several roads are closed. thousands of people without electricity. the floods also knocked trees over some on to buildings and cars. also in arizona, crews believe they've recovered the body of a man missing in a flood. we told you about this tragedy a few days ago. it killed nine people. including several family members. they have not yet officially identified him. it's taken 41 years but a minnesota woman finally knows what happened to her 16-year-old brother. illinois police say he was murdered by serial killer john wayne gacy. the teenager went missing in 1971 after moving to chicago. gacy was a contractor in chicago at the time and murdered more than a dozen young men.

we're following this morning, road rage during the morning commute. the shooting, the arrest and tips to avoid confrontation during your next commute are coming up in a live report at 6:45. right now, it is 6:33. we've been telling you all week that prince george's county police are on extra patrols after a string of homicides this month. they're currently investigating 14 of them. 17-year-old dustin cory was the latest victim. cory's father said his son was looking forward to his senior year in high school this fall. he was shot during an illegal transaction. the crime was not random. most of the homicide victims this month involve criminal activity. so far arrests have been made in four cases. we're learning about what led to the shooting that left a one-year-old injured. there was an argument over a craps game. it happened in northeast d.c. witnesses tell investigators that two men were playing the game. they were surrounded by children and neighbors. police

visas during the 90-day period that the executive order is in force. the supreme court did not halt the ruling, essentially giving it the green light. it applies to visa applicants from six muslim majority countries. it also imposes a 120-ban from refugees from anywhere in the world. there's good news this morning about your commute. maryland's purple line project a appears to be on track. we're talking to metro riders about how it might impact their commutes. megan? >> reporter: yeah. it would provide certainly another option to commuters. but there's been a lot of legal wrangling, back and forth and delays. it now looks like the purple line project is back on track. now, take a look at the map here. the 16-mile light rail line would connect montgomery county to prince george's county with stops in bethesda, silver spring, college park and new carrollton. the future of the project is in question.
