>> news4 shomari stone is live now. >> reporter: those friends and family members gathered at an undisclosed location. it was private. they allowed us to be there to capture this special moment. they were paying tribute to jc. his mother very upset, obviously. she lost her only son. she thought that one day he would bury her, instead she is planning to bury him at his funeral and she demands to know who killed him. >> my son, my son. >> reporter: she points at her son's photo on mourners t-shirts. 20-year-old john christian weber, also known at jc was gunned down last night. >> he's gone because of some lowdown dirty dog. >> reporter: jc's frenz pay tribute to him at a

inside his family home. he died at a hospital. police tell us this was not a random murder. >> reporter: did your son have any enemies? any idea why this happened? >> i don't know why. you can be the nicest person and still have an enemy. >> reporter: detectives believe jc knew the shooter. police have not released information on a possible motive for the killing. sources close to the investigation say detectives are looking for three men in their 20s last seen driving away in a dark colored honda. his mother is confident police will make an arrest. >> justice for jc, justice for my baby jc. >> reporter: tonight montgomery county police are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest and indictment in this case. life in silver spring, i'm shomari stone,

it may be 11:00 at night but we're still dealing with some extreme heat out there. >> and it's not done with us yet first. this was our hottest day of the year but you're saying it's going to be even hotter tomorrow. >> it's going to feel hotter tomorrow. the humidity was up today but tomorrow it will be even warmer. i'm talking about that heat index, eclipsing 105 in some areas. take a look at the high temperatures across the area, 98 in d.c., 97 in lees burg. we saw a heat index of 110 in quantico and baltimore. tomorrow i think they could be higher. here's at 11:00 at night and the current feels like temperature is 97 in d.c., 95 in annapolis, 84 in gaithersburg. you still feel it when you step out the front door. even hotter tomorrow and looking at possible severe storms on friday. i'll detail those for you. and look at this. the heat wave

jackie benson, news4. >> thank you, jackie. still no signs of a group of african teenagers after a team robotics competition in d.c. two of the teens were spotted crossing the canadian border. the trail is gone cold on the other four. they were last seen tuesday night after the competition rapped up. the team stayed at a residents hall in northeast. they left their room keys behind indicating they planned to leave on their own. they were supposed to be under close supervision. >> they would go to the competition and come back and did that several times until the last day of the competition. >> the teenagers all have one year visas and they may not be doing anything illegal by not returning to row onedy at this point. the state department issued a new warning due to

tension there and violence. i'm leon harris. the police chief of minneapolis didn't hold back tonight in her her first appearance since an officer killed a woman. she called out that officer and vowed that justice will be served. >> justine didn't have to die, based on the publicly released information from the vca this should not have happened. these were the actions and judgment of one individual. there are questions that need to be answered and he's the only one who has those answers. >> but officer mohamed noor is not talking and can't be forced too. justine damond called police to her home to report noises and when she approached the police car when they arrived, reportedly a noise startled noor and he shot her through the patrol car's driver's side window and he did it over his partner. the officer's

breaking tonight. greek officials say more than 100 people have been injured after a powerful 6.7 earthquake rocked a port city in turkey. this is video of some of the chaos after the quake. two were killed on the greek island after a bar collapsed. the quake rattled the turkish coast and nearby greek islands causing people to race out of buildings and leading to warnings to avoid beaches. these pictures show some of the damaged buildings. so imagine, traveling from d.c. to new york city in just under a half an hour? elon musk the man behind tesla and spacex says he received verbal government approval today to make that happen. musk announced he'll begin building an underground hyperloop between here and the big apple. the travel time would just be 29 minutes. a lot faster than the current 3 hours 20 minutes the trip takes on

here we are at 11:00 and our krnt temperature at the airport is 87 degrees. that's two degrees shy of the average high temperature for the day. winds out of the south at 7 miles per hour. i'm going straight to the heat index. 97 d.c., 95 annapolis, feels like 85 manassas. 97 degrees. even in winchester, 84 is the current heat index and once again we have a heat advisory for much of the area tomorrow. i think we could see that heat index rise to 105 maybe even higher during the day tomorrow. friday, i think our hottest day. on the radar there's nothing out there. i don't expect to see anything until saturday. talk about that in just a second. let's talk about your morning. weighing up getting the kids out to camp. 827:00 a.m. 88 the heat index at 9:00 should be right around 100 degrees.

get there tomorrow. going for a high temperature of 98. i would not be surprised if d.c. hit 100 degrees during the day tomorrow. feeling like 100 to 105 and we could tack on a few more. speaking of camp, 87 for the kids at camp. heat index by noon should be around 102 to 103 and feeling around 105 in the afternoon. it's going to be a hot one for sure. many of the camps these days are taking precautions, bringing the kids in during the hottest part of the day and only keeping them out for a time. it's a lot harder for kids as much as heat exhaustion is concerned. there's your groundhog day forecast right there. i think we could see a heat advisory each day through sunday. monday looking a little bit better. very hot on monday with a high of 95. weather alert day friday, saturday and sunday. saturday not just weather alert because
