justin finch is on his way to queen anne's county to see that damage. >> we'll find out about conditions on the roads. justin, how is it looking so far where you are? >> reporter: eun, aaron, making our way to queen answer's county. some roadways are dry, others are wet. there's ponding in spots. perhaps you'll find that as you make your way out. the heavy rain that blew through in our area didn't leave lots of wet spots. we have reports of some flooding in the area of tysons and alexandria. as jack mentioned, we have the spots along the rock creek parkway, not from the kennedy center, some rain over there. we did see flooding over there. we did see that police had the areas blocked off as they continue to mitigate that situation there.

was, we would be okay. over the years vance was who he was. you probably know a lot about him already. he wasn't shy about sharing. you know he rode motorcycles. he liked cars and fishing and sports and mixing it up with whomever was reporting on sports. vance always had a way with kids. >> before becoming a journalist, he was a teacher in his hometown of philadelphia. he started reporting here in 1969. but from the start, the bosses knew they had an anchor in the making. he made a name for himself covering stories all over the world. vietnam, el salvador, south africa. but he didn't have to go far for some of his best work, reporting on the people in his adopted hometown of washington. think about every story in the. he covered it all, race

the plane that crashed into the 14th street bridge, watergate, the attempted assassination of president reagan, 9/11, he covered inaugurations for 12 presidents and all 7 of washington's mayors. in 1977 vance was the guy the ha and a half i muslims asked to speak to the night they seized three buildings in town. he was the first journalist marion barry called after he was arrested in 1990. vance interviewed every president, some at the white house, others on a fishing boat. he gave his view with a dose of reality that could be refreshing, even if you didn't agree with him. vance had some dark times here, too and some struggles of his own that are well-known. but he came out of those a better person and always used the lessons he had to learn the hard way to try to make life better for students trying to navigate their

it was just a few months ago that vance told us he had cancer and as we tried to hold our emotions in check, vance reminded us about the incredible life he's lived. >> the blessings never stop flowing. >> the last time he was in public was when they put him on a mural at ben's chili bowl just a few weeks ago. he's received so many honors and awards over the years. but you could tell this one was special. >> what an honor. >> all of you meant so much to him, too. he never grew tired of reminding himself where he came from. >> hello, i'm jim vance. >> and how lucky he was to be invited into your homes for so many decades. >> it is hard to put into words how much vance meant not only to us at news 4 but to this entire community. we've heard from thousands of you and we've really only scratched the

>> d.c. lost a treasure. d.c. lost not just an anchor, it lost a conscious human being. >> now, the news of his passing has hit hard all over town. he was a regular at the american diner for some 20 years. employees say he was almost like a member of the family there and booth number 9 was always his. >> he always make sure there was november meet loaf right there and jim vance would come in, make sure his table was there, ready. >> these are the kind of fast friendships, chance encounters and anecdotes that many of you will be able to hold on showing how much he was truly embraced. many of you are sharing your thoughts and your memories online as well. we have seen the word legend and icon over and over again. more than a few of you said you watched vance your whole lives. it seems everyone agrees

washingtonian. >> i think so many people are saying that vance felt like family. and that they felt that even though i hadn't met him personally, i knew him. you did know him. because who he was and the stories that he told and the person that he was every single day here at nbc washington was who he was. he was authentic and real and true to himself. that really shown through in everything he did. that's why people felt so close to him. people loved him. that's because he loved people. >> you got exactly what you thought you were getting. >> for sure. he not only was a magnetic personality. but he was so smart and thought provoking and he could talk about just about any issue and you'd feel smarter from having heard him say what he thought about it. i can't tell you what a tremendous loss it is for us personally and our entire

later today. >> the last couple of hours, the heavy thunderstorms we had, there could be quite a bit of damage in queen anne's county. we have people checking on that for you. meanwhile, the heavy weather is well up the jersey coastline and moving away from us. the atmosphere has been very worked over, essentially, by that round of thunderstorms. as a result, a much lower rain chance for today. couple of sprinkles this morning. it's still warm and humid, temperatures in the mid-70s. but it will turn into a relatively nice day today. more sunshine than we've seen. not quite as hot. we'll be in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees today. it might be our last 90 for a while. the extended forecast in a couple of minutes. good morning, jack. >> hey, chuck. good morning to you. the wind restrictions. we're well above warnings as the storm blew out of the east if you will and the northeast just with winds still above 40 miles an hour that kept the restrictions in effect. with a lot of the storm damage and thee

oath, though. today's meeting gets under way as donald trump jr. and paul manafort agreed it talk to congressional investigators. sarah dallof joins us now with more. >> like you mentioned, this hearing is not going to be open to the public. jared kushner will not be under oath. that's prompting some concerns from democrats. his attorney, however, released a statement saying that kushner will fully cooperate with this investigation. now, he's expected to be asked about his relationship with russian officials, specifically his meeting in 2016 linked to the kremlin as well as if he assisted in setting up any back channel communications with the russians. now, on tuesday he will appear before the house intelligence committee. we are told that his counsel said he'll be available for two hours for that meeting, prompting at least one lawmaker

i zoomed it in, we'll go backwards in time. this is the shower and thunderstorm complex -- whoops, it's not going to show me the loop. there's been quite a bit of severe weather noted on kent island and into parts of central delaware with that same storm. for us, we're dealing with leftover raindrops early this morning. a lot of clouds around. future weather brings that little chance of showers in and out of here this morning with very little fanfare. by 2:00 or 3:00, maybe a bubbling up of a shower or thunder shower today. but coverage and intensity of these storms today will be nothing compared to what we've seen over the last couple of days. here's your first peek at the ten-day forecast. a 30% chance of a shower or rumble of thunder later on today. look at that weather, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, highs in the mid-80s. lower humidity, particularly on wednesday. then there's a pretty high chance for rain on friday. that comes in and goes out quickly. leaves us dry for the
