the police tape lining the store. detectives surveying the scene as well. police telling us at some point they may come forward with more updates. at this time, they're focused on the scene and asking the public if they had any information to bring it to their detectives. now we're live, justin finch. >> justin, thank you. we're following violent crimes overnight in southeast washington. a man was shot and killed on fair lawn avenue in anacostia. the road is still shut down right now. prince george's county police are trying to find out who shot a man in riverdale park. that shooting happened on 54th avenue. we're working to find out the victim's name and condition. 6:03 right now. you probably saw the tweet president trump announced banning transgender people from serving in the u.s. military. the president cites the burden of, quote, tremendous medical costs and disruption as the reason for the

and has put transgender service members in limbo. we spoke to mia mason for the majority of her 18-year career. she served as michael. she began to transition as a female and when the military found out she was discharged. but when the ban was lifted she was back. now she's afraid of losing it all again. >> i may be forced to lose all of my benefits again. i may be forced to repay everything again. i may be dishonorably discharged. those are things that hurt me. those are things that i feel are harmful not only to me but to everybody else currently serving. >> mia says despite the policy change, she will keep fighting. today senators will be getting ready to pull an all-nighter in the health care site. they're expected to vote on a series of amendments.

in the end, voters will have a skinny repeal of the affordable care act. it will include a repeal on some the mandates on part of the health care law. chaos after a deadly accident at the ohio state fair. one man was dead and seven other people are hurt after a ride malfunctioned on opening day. the people were thrown from the fireball spinning ride. the ride was inspected thoroughly before the fair began. now governor john kasich has ordered all the rides to be shut down until more safety inspections are completed. witnesses were in shock after watching the terrifying scene. really is a shame that this would happen to those people and it's such a fun fair and this is a real tragedy. that's all we can say. >> three people hurt

in critical condition. six minutes after the hour now. chopper 4 was the only one to capture this video of nancy arriving at bwi marshall airport last night. the maryland woman is battling terminal cancer. she had been stuck at an alaska hospital for two months after suffering a medical emergency on vacation. the kindness of strangers helped her get back home with her kids and grandkids this morning. last night at grace point community church of the nazar e nazarene, the congregation celebrated her being back. she wasn't well enough to fly commercial. there was an outpouring of donations. $60,000 was raised to bring nancy home. >> she wanted to come home. we were going to figure something out. in three days, over $50.

$55,000 in three days' time. incredible. >> incredible indeed. she was diagnosed with terminal cancer about two years ago. >> they're so thankful she can live out her remaining days at home. it restores your faith in humanity. so many people helping her out. house majority whip steve scalise is out of the hospital and one step closer returning to capitol hill. scalise spent nearly six weeks at med star washington hospital center after being shot in the hip during a republican baseball team practice in alexandria last month. he's going through a rehabilitation program at an inpatient facility. you may remember some of the violent protests on inauguration day. this morning, several people who were arrested are appearing in court. they face felony charges. many say won't take a plea deal. wtop, back in january, police say

going the wrong way and hit a car head on. she and other driver, a man named zoo both died. police think alcohol was a factor. this is the second time in two months there was a deadly crash where someone was driving in the wrong direction. >> we're learning more in a high tech crime we told you about yesterday morning. fairfax county police say this is the maintenance man accused of trying to film a woman and trying to find him right now. police say he left behind a recording device in the woman's apartment at the fair lakes apartment. this is what it looks like. the resident contacted police after she says he asked her to take a shower to make sure the water would not affect the electrical sis tep. investigators found 90 other images of potential victims on the device. crime solvers is offering a reward for his arrest. police arrested this man yesterday. he's accused of

driver tuesday in fredericksburg near the greenbrier shopping center. the victim suffered nonlife-threatening injuries. a woman tried to lure a little girl into her car yesterday near the intersection of meade drive and moore place in leesburg on tuesday. that little girl is nine years old. the woman tried to lure her in by saying her mother was in the hospital much the girl told police that she biked straight home and the woman followed her. police believe the woman was in her 20s and driving a gray or silver four-door sedan. it seems a cat is to thank for saving his owner from being trapped after their home began collapsing. > . >> the cat was acting strangely. as soon as he got up, the walls in that home started crumbling. this is in west philadelphia. even more luckily here, folks headed home heard a woman screaming and ran in to
