store late wednesday night. police say there's no evidence of a threat, but they're encouraging citizens to always be mindful of their surroundings. three members of the same family have disappeared in loudoun county. the loudoun county sheriff's department says the last time anyone saw courtedly ash was friday night. she was supposed to bring her son and his cousin to another family's home. they're likely in a blue ford taurus with vuv-9844 tag. disheartened that's how the police chief says he feels after a weekend of vile also. ten people were show the in less than 24 hours, two of those people died. justin finch joins us from police headquarters to explain how police plan to curtail this violence. justin?

>> reporter: hey there, pat. good morning, as the shootings were coming in, some may have noticed they came in without any suspect information. that can be troubling for police who are trying to solve these crimes as they are happening, but they do believe in these cases there could be witnesses, people who saw or heard something, and they're hoping those people will come forward. mapped across the district, a string of shootings, ten people were shot, two killed. >> i was sitting in my house watching tv -- >> reporter: of one of two fatal shootings, the 4400 block of kolff street, a man shot and killed, found debt in a yard of an apartment complex. >> i got nervous. my son had just left, just went outside. i was concerned, because keith do play in that yard up there. >> reporter: several hours

the 4800 block of kansas northwest. two men were shot, one died a scene, authorities now looking to neighbors for tips and to stop the violent before it starts. >> these are some of the challenges that we are here for. we have to continue to engage the community, of course, hopefully put a squash to many of the issues happens. police also responding to another shooting on 15th street on saturday night. four other shootings were also recorded, the last one along a 3100 block of clay east where a man was found shot. a second man was found nearby. both were awake and breathing when they were found. dc police say what they could do is predict when a where the shooting will happen, but they will continue to engage with the community and the important of sharing their tips in the hopes of solving these creams and also stoppi

this violent bombing happened during protests over an election in venezuela. u.s. officials are calling it a sham election. allies of nicklas maduro won all the seats in a new assembly. the body can dissolve the opposition congress, among other things. reports say at least ten people died in this protest. and we're following developing story in afghanistan where a suicide bomber blew himself up in front of an embassy. -- claiming responsibility for this morning's attack in kabul.

you can hear some of the explosions, two or three men rushed in and set off a gun battle. at least two afghans who worked at that embassy were killed, several people wounded. that's one of the suspects police took into custody during a terrorism investigation? australia. authorities made the arrest after investigators foiled a terror plot to bron down an airplane. the suspects are believed to have been inspired by islamist ideology and were planning to use an improvised device. right now a search-and-rescue message is under way for a missing man. >> family members say he moved there in the hopes of finding gold and jewels.

charles barry jr. is charged with raping is a 13-year-old he met on social media. prosecutors say they connected last year. in june barry took the girl to a hotel in germantown. the girl's family found out about the encounter and contacted police. investigators believe he may have contacted other teenage girls on social media. a federal judge is forcing the faa to investigate when shrinks airline seats are safe. the side of passengers' seats is a serious issue. >> somebody my size, the width of the seat is more than the leg space. >> they're small and i'm not looking forward to it. >> steve patterson explains.
