place on indian head highway above palmer road. prince george's county police called here about 12:30 this morning. once here, they found that motorcycle driver and pronounced that person dead on scene. they say it appears at this time the motorcycle driver rear ended that vehicle. at this point we can tell you the medical examiner is here on scene. they and police have blocked some southbound lanes of indian head highway, but traffic is moving in the right lanes. looking live at the impact to drivers of this crash, watching traffic on northbound lanes of indian head highway now being diverted onto palmer road nearby. at this point the investigation is still very active. the northbound lanes of indian head highway remain closed at this time. this happening as the morning rush is just beginning to build. live in fort washington, justin finch. back to you in the studio. >> check back in a bit. thanks. 5:01. let's check the weather with

the white house, has to do with news reports on seth rich. the dnc staffer was murdered in what they said was a botched robbery. rod wheeler says fox news hired him to investigate the murder and intentionally misquoted him. story suggested rich leaked e-mails from the dnc to wikileaks. wheeler claims president trump and the white house reviewed the story and urged fox news to run it to divert attention from the russia investigation. the story was later retracted. tracie potts will have a closer look at the claim ahead at 5:45. everyone has their favorite site. according to a report on golf.com, he called the white house a real dump. he told members of the new jersey club that's why he spends time away from d.c. one of the responses came from chelsea clinton. on

house staff and crew, butt letters, chefs, florists, engineers for all their hard work. starting today, you may have to find a new place to go for the morning run or bike ride. national park service is closing part of a trail in rock creek park the next week. the stretch near park road between 'til done and tiny branch parkway. crews are repaving. that's part of beach drive reconstruction project. park service says that stretch should be open again by end of this month. eventually all of beach drive from rock week parkway to the maryland line will be rebuilt. 5:04 now. with summer vacations winding down, it is time to help get your kids ready for school. in order to start the school year off right, they must have the proper vaccinations. >> we have some info on how to be sure your kids have all they need. good

how about the weather? the good news is this morning we are dry. no rain falling now. we have some clouds out there. 76 degrees in washington. notice more clouds around than sunshine today. it will be another hot, humid one this afternoon. temperatures are fairly mild elsewhere, mid to low 70s. some upper 60s on the map. as you wake up, walk outside, you see dry conditions continuing. low 80s by 9:00 a.m. a humid one. we have a chance for a couple of stray storms later this afternoon. i'll show you the timing on that, what to expect as well. relief in the forecast coming up. it probably was a problem for the afternoon commute or plans to spend the night outdoors. slow moving storps drenched the area. >> saw flooding, toppled trees. blocked both lanes of the

that rain sneaks inside metro tunnels. this is damage it causes on the red line between medical center and friendship heights. you see it there. >> news4 got an exclusive look inside these tunnels four years ago. now metro is trying to fix it. a transition reporter is back underground to see if they're making progress. >> reporter: take a look for yourself. this is what metro has been dealing with a long time inside tunnels between the medical center and friendship heights station. water comes down. these tunnels are beneath the water table. whenever it rains, all of that pressure pushes down in here. metro says it has been doing a good job plugging holes. you look up, see the spray paint, they're drilling into concrete. they put a polymer solution that meshes with water, turns into a rubber substance and basically

one employee did end up getting badly hurt. you see him here. it happened a little over a week ago. this morning, that worker is out of the hospital. he has burns everywhere. not clear why the plane was down on the tarmac during that storm. and a teenager undergoing mental evaluation after he jumped out of a plane at the san francisco airport. the plane just landed and was waiting to taxi to its arrival gate. the teen opened the emergency door and jumped on the tarmac. passengers say it happened so quickly, they didn't have time to stop him. construction crew confronted the teen, held him until police got there. nobody was hurt. new video showing the final inmate in the alabama jail break being rearrested. they tracked down brady kilpatrick in florida where he was staying

in question is on the tow truck. that's northbound indian head highway, behind that tow truck, behind that motorcycle, you're watching firefighters clean up what appears to be the brunt of the crash scene, could be indication that perhaps this scene will be wrapped up soon and traffic again moving on northbound indian head highway. the backup and to explain what happened, close to 12:30 this morning, they were called to the scene of a car crash involving a motorcycle as well as a vehicle. it appears at this time that the motorcycle rear ended that vehicle in question here. the motorcycle driver was pronounced dead on the scene. the driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. here on scene, southbound indian head highway, left two lanes of the highway have been closed for some time, but traffic is moving otherwise on southbound 210. noou

19-year-old richard hearns has other victims. he was a counselor at the oak grove baptist summer camp in sterling. he is charged with soliciting sex from a boy under the age of 15 at the camp last year. investigators say hearns used snap chat to send the camper lewd photos and solicit sex. some closure after a toddler's murder in manassas. he was sentenced to life in prison for killing his son five years ago. he was 15 months old when he died. the u.s. department of veteran affairs fired long time head of ds va medical center. the story first reported by the i team. brian hawkins was in charge when they found supply shortages, unsanitary conditions in storage areas and cockroach infestation in food service

furthermore, he is alleging the person that hired him said the president wanted quotes like that, that he wanted those quotes to stay in the article, even though fox knew the quotes were false. lots of reaction to this. the president didn't know about the story. fox did retract the story, they say they're investigating, but other claims are false in that lawsuit, and the person who hired this private investigator, both of them by the way were fox contributors, is also denying the story. >> tracie potts on capitol hill. thank you. a new border wall with mexico getting closer to reality. homeland security granting waivers to allow construction crews to bypass environmental and land protection laws. waivers apply to san diego where officials are upgrading miles of fence. it clears the way for
