handicapped, i told my husband i saw a lady and i saw her walk but i've never seen her since then. i assumed that he was living there by himself. >> the sheriff's office said deputies were called to the home saturday to check on the welfare of the family. they say moore was reluctant to allow them into the home. while they were speaking to him out front, a woman and two children, ages 8 and 11, ran out of the side door. the woman told deputies a shocking story, that moore, believed to be the father of the children, had held them captive in the home, refusing to allow them to leave for two years. he's been charged with multiple counts of abduction, felony adu assault and battery. >> real estate records show moore was not the owner of this home but it's not clear whether or not he was renting it. >> in fredericksburg, jackie bensen, news 4. n

robbery suspects they say held a family hostage for 12 hours. this happened inside a silver spring apartment. this man, whose name is orlando, says five men went into the home by saying they were there to paint. over the next few hours, they tied everyone up, stabbed orlando's son-in-law and stole his car. a 7-year-old was among the hostages. police say the family was targeted because orlando's daughter works at a check cashing business. the men took her to the business and tried to rob it but didn't get any money. now we want to give you a look at other things happening in the news today in fairfax county. police will be back at a popular trail looking for answers. officers will be in the area not far from the vienna metro station. they're looking for clues after a woman was randomly attacked and stabbed along the trail last week. remember that powerful torpedo that ripped t

week. there's a meeting on the recovery process in queen anne's county. neighbors can expect rebuilding updates and answers from first response agencies. the meeting gets under way tonight at 7:00. we'll see whether the dow will stay in record territory today. it hit the 22,000 mark for the first time yesterday. some of the companies that have contributed to the big gains, boeing, mcdonald's and apple. dozens of companies are expected to release earnings numbers this mornings which could give the dow an extra boost. president trump could tout the gains when he speaks in west virginia tonight. but it doesn't look like everyone will be excited to see him. someone vandalized the huntington arena where the president is expected to speak to supporters. an anti-trump message was written across the building. no word on who did it or when. it's 4:32. we have breaking news this morning. more heartbreak for a minnesota

after that school explosion in minneapolis was the school's janitor. crews pulled his body from the rubble last night. the other victim has been identified as ruth berg. she worked as the school's receptionist for 17 years. investigators say contractors working on the building caused a natural gas leak yesterday. students and teachers inside the school said they had just seconds to get out before the blast. >> so my daughter got up and was getting ready to leave out of the counselor's office and was blown back into the counselor's office by the explosion. it was seconds after they told everybody to get out that explosion happened. >> seven people are still in the hospital this morning. doctors say their injuries range from serious to critical. new overnight, d.c. fire crews also responded to a fiery two-car crash on irving street northwest. it's not far from med star washington hospital center. one person died, another injured. fire crews say that car was fully engulfed in flames w

arrived on the scene, has more on the investigation. justin, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. we're coming to you from the corners of 8th street and f streets northeast. as you can see behind us, crime tape is still up and also a fire engine behind us. unclear at this time if this is the engine that is involved in this investigation at this time. here's what we know. a firefighter, a male in his late 20s was hit by another fire vehicle. we're hearing reports of that this morning. it appears he may have jumped from a fire truck, then was hit by a passing vehicle, possibly another fire vehicle here. as a result, he did suffer some serious injuries. this is all happening amid a fire response here to a home on the 800 block of f street northeast. it was a two-alarm row house fire. we have new details emerging about this firefighter. that he was part of engine 3 in his late 20s. we do know he was taken to med star
