this happened around 3:00. according to police the car that started this was westbound on fla, it struck that parked car. when police got there, they were in the heavily policed area and found the driver some distance from the car and when they got to the car they realized there was another person inside. no identifications at this point. the driver is with police technically not this, and we will hear more from metropolitan police. take a listen. >> at about 3:15 last night we received calls for an accident simultaneously, patrol units were in the area, came upon the accident as calls were coming in, came upon

flame. >> reporter: the other thing is there was a firehouse a few blocks away. the fire department was on the scene very quickly but not quickly enough to stop what happened here. this is all under investigation and ask anyone in the area to call if they might have seen something. neighbors in carrolton can rest a little easier now that police have cleared a shooting scene. prince george's county police say shots were fired from a balcony around 7:30 last night. officers set up a barricade and told people to shelter in place. no one was hurt and three arrested. taking the metro this week it can make a mess of your travel plans shutting down a stretch of the green line. the

five minutes. a local couple took a flight to paradise and found themselves in a complete nightmare. d.c. teacher, jennifer jones says she and her girlfriend were detained in aruba last week. it started after a note that said "bomb" was found in the restroom of a southwest airlines flight. they said jones was the last person to use the facilitate. the police separated them and they were appointed a lawyer and couldn't call their families or the u.s. embassy. they published their pictures and called them criminal suspects. the nightmare lasted 24 hours. >> i was pretty tried. this is the most scariest thing i ever experienced in my life. >> it seems as though there was discrimination involved. >> we have reached out to the aruban

man, 74-year-old man went missing last night. he went for a walk near leesburg pike in alexandria and didn't come back. he's visiting from libya. call police if you know where he might be. the family of a hit-and-run victim will dedicate a ghost bike and put out another plea agreement for help today. at the end of june burgess johnson was hit by a driver who checked on him and then left the scene. he died in july after his family decided to take him off life support. this morning, his family will host a memorial event at the anacostia library. they will dedicate a bicycle painted in white to be placed near the crash scene and ask for help to find this driver. you're supposed to trust the person who takes care of your kids. one fairfax man is accused of breaking that trust. this man

runs an in-home daycare is charged with sexual battery. an 11-year-old girl says she was inappropriately touched and another child victimized. police want to hear from any who thinks lazo had inappropriate contact with their child. a former teacher will spend decades in prison for child abuse. he was sentenced to 48 years in prison, convicted in june of touching children inappropriately. vigna taught at cloverly elementary and preyed on children for 15 years. despite the charges, dozens of people showed up at court yesterday and spoke in his defense. >> the circuit court judge who presided over this case, he thought the jury got it right and so do we. >> we will continue to fight until he is vindicated and justice is

>> the victims' families say he caused them so much suffering some contemplated suicide. metro transit police looking for a guy accused of taking up-skirt pictures of women. there is a picture here of the person police are looking for. the woman says she was on the escalate tore at the columbia heights station when she felt a hand up her skirt on thursday. surveillance shows the suspect holding a phone at that time. police also have evidence he targeted other women. one metro rider says it certainly makes her nervous. >> outrage and violated. it's scary someone would be on the metro doing something like that. it's crazy. >> metro transit police want you to give them a call if you see this suspect or have any information. >> deadly drug overdoses continue to rise at an alarming rate in maryland. the state health department released a new number showing from equestrian to march of

heroically rescued clarence wade. >> you hear stuff burning and you hear stuff popping, you see the smoke. everything happened so fast with the smoke. i was a little bit scared. >> reporter: the fire broke out early thursday morning and rapidly spread. clarence was on the first floor, his wife, geneva upstairs, she broke through this back window and climbed out and called police. meanwhile, clarence was still inside suffering from smoke inhalation and minor burns. police arrived later and neighbors watched as officers put their lives on the line. >> we started yelling to see if anybody was inside and sure enough we could hear someone yelling from the inside. >> reporter: that's when they ran in and pulled him out. the officers had a couple cuts and inhaled the smoke, they're okay. firefighters showed up a few minutes later and put out the flam. now, clarence and his wife are recovering at a hospital. theiniece isra
