good evening. i'm we got breaking news in bethesda. two people hit by a car. this is happening at a church parking lot on river road. darcy spencer just got to the scene. what can you tell us is happening there? >> reporter: we just got here just a few minutes ago. this is at the unitarian universalist church here in bethese da. it happened right here in the church parking lot. i want to show you the white car where the police officer is standing just beyond him you can see that the windshield is cracked. they are saying two

ground you can see that there's a cain on the ground as well as a shoe. we're told that the two victims who were struck and injured were older. we do not have the age. but they were described as older, possibly senior citizens, a man and a woman. you can see that the crime scene tape is up here. the driver of the car did remain on scene. you might be able to see that windshield better now with the officer moving out of the way. so judging from other accident scenes it looks like someone may have struck the windshield. again, two people were transported to the hospital. a man and a woman described as being older. they were suffering from very serious injuries taken to the hospital. we've not been able to get an update on their condition. important to note the driver who struck these two older residents did remain here on the scene and is cooperating with

the victim outside a business suffering as trauma to the upper body. dead at the scene. carl robinson grew up here. his family active, known in the community. he has a hard time recalling a scene like this one. >> this community was like a family. we were all a family. >> reporter: you hear it at crime sense. that sort of thing doesn't happen here. here in mounts rainer it carries more weight. even the police struggle to remember when was the last time a homicide was. maybe four, fire years. today police collected evidence while those who remember the victim consoled each other. what was left was a sense that after years of relative peace something was changing in mounts rainer. >> it's going

bit. >> reporter: a man's death on a sidewalk early on a bright saturday morning that hope is important. police have caught the driver who ran off after this deadly crash that came dangerously close to gas pumps. this happened about 3:00 in the morning on florida avenue in northeast. police say a driver hit a parked car, sending it airborne and crashing into a sign at the gas station and when officers got there they found the car engulfed in flames. a passenger found dead inside. a police officer who was in the area saw the accidents and saw the driver take off. that driver was found a short distance away. we got more breaking news now. the united nations security council hopes tough new sanctions against north korea will curb its nuclear ambitions. the council unanimously approved the sanctions today. the resolution dance exports worth more than a billion dollars and dance countries from giving additional
