some could be strong all throughout the day tomorrow. not your typical afternoon storms. we have them tomorrow morning as well. it looks like the clouds are starting to break up. i know we have cloud cover out there but it's starting to break up, and we will have sunshine through the day. notice the wind, not as breezy as it was yesterday either. clouds moving in and out as we continue through the day, and they will increase later on. we have rain later tonight, and we will time out the rain chances and let you know when we can expect stronger storms and where those locations will be coming up in a bit. >> thank you. now to the developing story. d.c. police stayed busy overnight going from robbery to robbery. >> news4's darrick ward is live. >> reporter: this happened over a 4 1/2 hour span. take a look at the map. you can see most of the crimes that were reported, these ro

spread north and south. the first one started at 9:08 in the 1600 block of pickford place, and then another one at howard road southeast at 11:00, and in this case the suspect was on an orange scooter. and then an hour later, 1300 block of alabama avenue, another robbery, and then 15 minutes later, another one, and then the last one happened at 1:37 in the 1300 block of corbin place, and the distinction here, the first one and the last one were robberies had violence. live outside police headquarters, darrick ward, news4. an elderly couple is in stable condition after being hit by a car after attending a funeral service. >> the

83-year-old woman were hit in a church parking lot in bethesda. here's the video. on the ground, a cane, shoes and a pair of glasses. >> people who live nearby say there's a lot of traffic in this area. >> you got to be careful, yeah, because it's a busy street here. this street is a busy street, but i am surprised it happened inside the parking lot. people should be looking. i don't know. i don't know what to say. >> the couple was attending a funeral for the church's former minister. police towed away the car and the driver did stay on scene. and then taking action after one of their officers wore a t-shirt some call racist. the officer here in this picture is on desk duty and banned from having any interactions with the

the officer was an arresting officer in a gun possession case, and the police chief calls that shirt disgraceful. and then searching for a suspect in a rare homicide case. a man was found dead on rhode island avenue near the mt. rainier public library. this happened on saturday. the small town is just across the d.c. line. police say it has been four and maybe even five years since they last investigated a homicide in mt. rainier. long-time residents say they are shocked and say their community is like a family. >> a lot of people don't know where we are. this community was like a family, brentwood, and we were all a family. >> the man's identity has not yet been released. and then a deadly crash happened at a d.c. gas station, and we are told the driver is in custody and the passenger is dead. the driver hit a parked car and ran away from the

then officers eventually caught up with the driver. you can see here on florida avenue the sign down, and police have not released any identities. the u.s. called off a search and rescue mission for three u.s. marines. they went missing saturday after their plane crashed off the coast of australia while trying to land and now it has turned into a recovery mission. military officials say the marines were in an aircraft like the one you see there that crashed on its final approach to an american aircraft carrier. there were 26 people onboard, and 23 were rescued. the marines' next of kin have been notified. and then some are calling the bombing of a mosque an attack on their community. the fbi believes the blast was from an improvised explosive device, and nobody was injured. a motive in that bombing and whether or not it was a hate crime has not yet been

72-hour cease-fire in baltimore stopped short with two killings yesterday. police say a 24-year-old man was shot around 5:00, and a 37-year-old man was shot just before 10:00 last night. activist called for the cease-fire to last through sunday with the goal of ending a wave of violence in the city. before yesterday, 208 homicides were reported in baltimore this year, and that number is now at 210. after a push for peace in the city is over. and then a man was hit and killed by a driver, and yesterday his family was presented with a memorial ghost bike, and the family plans to place it at the crash scene. back in june a driver hit johnson as he was riding his bike. the driver stopped for a moment and then kept going. the family is pleading for that driver to come forward.

your flight. ten people were hurt due to severe turbulence after landing on their flight on american airlines from athens yesterday. firefighters arrived on the tarmac to check passengers when the plane landed. three passengers and seven crew members went to the hospital. american airlines said the fasten seat belt sign was on at the time of the turbulence. people in new orleans are bracing for another day of rain. take a look at this heavy rainfall left behind. residents are stranded. a lot of folks, taking a boat like that guy. officials say more than eight inches of rain fell and some places saw a rate of two inches per hour and emergency officials say they responded to more than two dozen calls. let's look outside. a beautiful sunday on tap. storms are going to have an impact later on today and in the workweek. lauryn

cloud cover. as we continue through the day, the city open finals, it's going to be bright as times as we head through the noon hour. as we head through the 3:00 and 5:00, looking good and pleasant and not as windy as yesterday. if you are headed down to the city open, last day for it, and great day for it. looking at the radar right now, you can see a little bit of cloud cover on the satellite imagery coming across the area, so we will have clouds and sun. i believe we will have the sun midday with low to mid-80s, and not as breezy out there and low humidity. one of my favorite activities in virginia, it's not going to be too hot to head to the vineyards. and comfortable for fares aroird the area. we are going to have rain through the day on monday. comfortable out there today. humidity starts to roll back in overnight, and tomorrow will not be rainy but muggy and then the humidity rolls back down for tuesday and wednesday.

kids in prince georges county will have a better start to the school year thanks to the community support. yesterday's stuff-a-bus event was a big success. all the supplies will go to children in the county's school system. officials tell us they hope to stuff 10,000 backpacks by the end of the month. >> it's important to give back to the community. how many of our students do not have a backpack? simple supplies. we want them to start the school year off successful. >> you will have another chance to donate next
