they are telling us the teenager remains in the hospital, but fortunately his condition as stabilized. that is good news. police also telling us they are following some very strong leads in this investigation. red line train service back to normal at the takoma station after a broad daylight shooting left a teenager seriously injured. >> very scary. >> reporter: police are still looking for these three persons of interest. police say the teen was shot in the stomach as the train pulled into the station about 3:00 in the afternoon. the suspects ran across the train, ran across the platform and got onto another train. >> yes, it's a concern. it's a young man. i have a 27-year-old son. it could have easily been him. >> we understand the concern. crime can

happen on metro. we take very aggressive steps to keep crime low. >> reporter: the shooting may have been recorded giving police critical information as they hunt for the shooter. >> it's safe. but at the same time you need to watch your surroundings and what you're doing. >> where their safety issues sometimes is not in the metro area itself but outside the station, muggings. generally the mecho a generally pretty safe system. >> reporter: that's pretty much what we heard from riders tonight. the system was effective for about 3 hours today. service completely back to normal. when you take your ride tomorrow morning, everything will be normal. you may or may not see some additional police activity. for any updates on this case as it happens over night, you can check it out

washington app. jim back to you. >> darcy, thank you. and now to arlington where a man is accused of sitting a high rise building on fire and pushing a baby toward the flames. arlington county police tell us this all started yesterday at a building near columbia pike on green brayer street. we're told both the woman and baby escaped. the fire damaged nearly 30 dwrunts in that building. police have now identified the driver that caused a deadly crash here. he now faces homicide charges. and we're learning that a good samaritan pulled him from the car but couldn't get the passenger out. that passenger

a motorcyclist is dead after leading police on a high-speed chase. this happened around 2:30 this morning. clint gascons was speeding and state troopers saw him weaving in and out of traffic at times going more than 130 miles an hour. he kept going even after troopers try today stop him. virginia state police say he lost control of his bike. after entering prince county he hit a retaining wall. new tonight we now know what caused that deadly amusement park ride. a teenager died when the ride broke apart in midair. the maker of the fireball says a corroded support beam is to blame. kng says the thickness of the beam wore down over the years. the ride at the ohio ste

was built nearly 20 years ago. all similar rides were taken out of commission. rare weather patterns have sparked a powerful storm in tulsa tonight. and people are not out of the woods yet. more severe weather in forecast for parts of the midatlantic tomorrow. 100 mile an hour winds ripped rooftops off of homes and businesses and snapped power poles. dozens of people were injured including a group inside a tgi friday's restaurant who were trapped after the roof collapsed. >> it completely collapsed right on top of everybody. so it's lucky people came out alive. >> it happened very quickly. >> tulsa hasn't had a tornado in august since the late 1950s. more weather problems this time in the big easy. shows the

people in new orleans are dealing with tonight. nearly a foot of rain fell in some neighborhoods overwhelming the city's pump stations. and things could get worse because storm team 4 expects, again, more rain for them tomorrow. close to home investigators are irk withing to learn what started a fire. they say hoarding was a problem with the home. we're told the fire began in the basement. investigators say no one is hurt, but there's roughly $100,000 in damage to the house. a teenage boy from the district has been missing for more than two weeks now. his name is brandon lewis. he was last seen july 19th near 14th street on columbia road. call police if you have any information. it supposed to be a cease-fire, a weekend without violence in baltimore. instead two men

a terrifying experience for passengers onboard an american airlines flight this weekend. severe turbulence jostled the plane over the atlantic ocean. the shaking was so violent it slatered drinks onto the ceiling. we've seen a number of similar incidents recently. we take a look at what could be causing these turb lulent skies >> reporter: the seat belt signs were on, but that didn't keep ten of the nearly 300 people onboard the american airlines flight 759 from grease to philadelphia from being injured. severe turbulence rocked the plane over the atlantic just 30 minutes before landing. >> i'd never experienced anythiik
