neighborhood where the teen was last seen, jewels. >> reporter: and this is where we spoeg to those investigators. these are the deep woods near the mount vernon lakes apartment complex that they have been searching through for the last several days. and this is where they emerged this afternoon when they called off the search for this day. take a look over here, this barricade marked with graffiti. now miguel lives just up the street off buckman road with his mom and a sibling. when he didn't come home on thursday night, the next morning they reported him missing. but what police discovered in this investigation makes them fear he could be in danger. >> that's our number one priority is to find him. >> this is the photo of 18-year-old that police want to get out on social media, want the public to see. he's an 11th grader. this was the teen searching for him today just aft

the woods late this afternoon. they've been looking and investigating since saturday. the information they developed only created more concern, that's why sunday evening they reclassified him as both missing and endangered. >> suffice it to say, that we have acknowledged that we believe its gang related. and again it's so out of his character to just go missing and not let his family know where he is or what he's doing. so given the totality of the circumstances, we're very concerned for his well being. >> that concern driven in part by this spike in gang violence in the past few years that's led to the deaths of several teens, including a 15-year-old girl. these two boys also missing and endangered, they haven't been seen since last fall. in early march, two bodies were found. investigators have not yet revealed the identity of those victims but they say believe their deaths are gang related. and one more thing

evidence to suggest that miguel himself is involved with a gang. back to you now in the studio. >> all right, julie carey, thank you. gang killings, there have been at least five murders in northern virginia just this year. two in montgomery county all tied to ms 13. that is a gang that has deep roots in el salvador. its presence in the u.s. is spreading, especially in los angeles, new york and here in the dc suburbs. there are about 10,000 gang members nationwide, another interesting statistic, the census bureau data from 2015 shows that of all foreign born residents in the district, 15% come from el salvador. guatemala and honduras, also links with ms 13 round out the top 20. more details on two stories with the potential to impact metro riders. first in that shooting on the

redline, judge denied bond for the teenager who is charged with shooting his half brother. it happened on sunday as a train pulled into the takoma park station in northwest. the 14-year-old victim is in stable condition now. police are still looking for three men who fought with the suspect before the gunfire. and in another disturbing case involving metro, brandon williams was arrested today for that up skirting incident at columbia heights metro. this surveillance video allegedly shows him roaming the station and then putting his cell phone up a woman's skirt. williams is suspected in other up skirting cases. if you think you may have been victimiz victimized, the metro police want to hear from you. now to a couple caught red handed, you can see them here breaking into a house at montgomery county. they have confessed to the crime, but there may be more victims out there. mark seagraves has the video police want you to see, mark. >> good evening. prosecutorsay

live in gaithersburg with their children case the house and after the homeowner's went to work, they smashed out the back door and broke in. this surveillance video shows 23-year-old ashley low, she appears to ring the doorbell several times while looking through the front door window, moments later, 25-year-old earnest jeffries is seen walking up to the rear of the house and trying to open the sliding door. jeffrey then smashes the outer glass door. he then comes back and throwing the rock again breaking the second glass door. minutes later, jeffries is seen walking out of the house with a large red gym bag. they stole diamond earrings, ammunition and cash from the home. they were arrested in a hotel room where police found that gym red bag he was seen carrying out of the house. now police caught the couple because of that video and because of a fingerprint jeffries left behind. prosecutors want to hear from anyone who thinks they may have been a

in. the couple will be sentenced later this year. jeffries is facing up to 20 years in prison, wendy, back to you. >> you can imagine how angry these parents are, they're demanding answers. public forum is getting underway to talk about the teacher's aide who is hiv positive accused of sexually abusing students. carlos bell is charged with abusing at least 24 boys while he worked for charles county public schools. he's also accused of trying to transmit hiv to his victims. bell worked at benjamin stoddert middle school. he also coached track at laplata high school. tonight families and businesses are cleaning up after a tornado touched down in maryland yesterday. we sent you breaking news alerts this afternoon as officials condition firm it was an ef 1 tornado that hit salisbury yesterday. cars overturned and trees

all of this happening off of a busy road near salisbury university. take a look. the path of destruction was about a mile long in this area right here. amelia has the science behind the twister, but first, let's go to megan fitzgerald with the impact. megan. >> reporter: where we are right now is along princeton avenue in the neighborhood that's hardest here in a town of salisbury. the national weather service says they came out here, they looked at a lot of the damage. but, specifically, they look at things like the circumference of a snapped tree, they were able to conclude just how strong the winds would have had to have been to snap a tree this thick, and that's one of the reasons why they believe that it was an ef 1 tornado that ripped through this town. surveillance cameras were rolling outside hoppers restaurant. >> the video is incredible. >> reporter: capturing dramatic moments when strong winds flipped over cars dragging them across the

opioid -- that's sobering comparison from a commission created by the president to combat the problem. today the white house explained how they're doing to do it. >> leon harris is a look with the white house strategy. >> tremendous problem, the likes of which our country has never seen. it starts with a dramatic push to prosecute drug offenders. >> the best way to prevent overdose is to prevent people from abusing drugs in the first place. if they don't start, they won't have a problem. if they do start, it's awfully tough to get off. >> according to cdc, 33,000 people died in 2015. the president said that while overdose deaths have quadrupled, prosecutions have gone down. the president's commission is called for expanded access to drug treatment, it's not clear where any funding for that wld

hackers are threaten to release more data. how extensive and how disruptive it will be to hbo's businesses and employees is still unclear. here is what we know, it did happen, hbo confirmed it, and they've asked the fbi to get involved. hackers claim they have stolen 1.5 tara bytes of data. if that's true, this hack is roughly seven times larger than that sony hack back in 2014. they go by the name mr. smith. according to the associated press, they're demanding $6 million to stop any further leaks. they've already released some programming, including the script for this past sunday's episode of "game of thrones" before it aired. it's unclear, exactly, who the hackers are, what their motive is and what else they might have, but there is concern about the personal information of employees and customers, too, and e-mails. e-mails were a major source of
