president trump warned north korea in a way that few if any american presidents have. he said more threats would result in, quote, fire and fury, power, the likes of which this world has never seen before. intelligence experts think north korea has the capability to mount a nuclear warhead, although it has not demonstrated it can successfully launch an accurate long-range missile. aaron? >> so we know what the president has said about taking action. so what happens now? >> well, a lot of that is up for grabs. everyone is trying to, i think, at this point, say, let's have calm heads about it. maryland senator ben cardin said president trump's comments were not helpful, it shows he lacks the temperament and judgment for this kind of crisis. it isn't clear what the u.s. is going to do

senator john mccain said this could result in a serious confrontation. and take a listen to what former general barry mccaffrey said last night on msnbc. >> sounds like kim jong-un's kind of threats. the rule of diplomacy, you don't threaten people in public. if you do threat them, you have to say something that you mean to follow through on. >> one thing that could happen, limited, targeted strikes on north korean military targets, but that could very easily escalate to all-out war on the peninsula. this morning, we know the governor of guam is telling people there not to be afraid and that there's not a serious threat at this moment. angie, back to you. >> chris lawrence, thank you. we do want to continue on to a developing story that is impacting a lot of mothers and your babies. >> d.c.'s health department ordered united medical center in

and prenatal care for 90 days. justin finch is live near the hospital now. any reason behind this decision? >> reporter: hey there, aaron. good morning. not just yet. you know, having a baby takes a lot of planning. so many parents to be would not want to get news like this. but health officials say there's a reason for this call about umc. they're just not making that reason public at this time. on tuesday, d.c.'s health department announced this. a three-month suspension of nursery and newborn delivery services at united medical center. however, it could be lifted sooner than 90 days, only if the health department finds improvements are made, warranting the sooner end date. it's sudden and shocking news for people living in southeast. ward 8 commissioner heard the news and she says she wants it figured out and fast. >>

>> u.s. news announced its list of the best hospitals and 11 d.c. hospitals made the list. medstar georgetown university hospital in d.c. mary washington hospital in fredericksburg, virginia. inova fairfax hospital. and in fourth place, a tie between met star washington hospital center and virginia hospital center. each hospital was evaluated in 25 different areas of care. right now, fairfax county police are doing all they can to find a missing teenager who could be in serious danger. they believe a gang may be targeting 18-year-old miguel carillo who has been missing since thursday. you see his picture here. he was last seen near his home on buckman road in the alexandria portion of the county. search teams have been combing the woods, they've used choppers and dogs to try to find him. profit over a child's health. that p

maryland, boiling this morning. milestone communications and verizon wireless have filed an application to build a cell tower at shadyside elementary school. parents fear the possible health effects it could have on their kids could be dangerous. they plan to protest at a community meeting tonight at 7:00 at the shadyside community center. earlier this year, news4 broke the news that milestone pulled its proposal for a tower at eleanor roosevelt high school after months of backlash from parents there. here's an update to a story we brought you last week. today the scorched souls motorcycle club, a group made up of d.c. firefighters, will hold a fund raisers for dane smothers jr., who was injured a week ago whilst hit by a ladder truck. the tune inn will provide breakfast and lunch specials with all proceeds going to help dane. news4 will be live there in our 6:00

it shows him getting on an escalator and placing a cell phone up the victim's skirts. police found hard drives and phones with dozens of pictures at his home. women we spoke to found this very disturbing. >> i think it's disgusting, it's gross, and it's weird. it's nasty. >> williams is out on bond and has been ordered to stay away from metro. police say they're still combing through a lot of pictures, but there could be 40 or 50 women that had no idea their pictures were even taken. the popularity of ride-sharing services like uber and lyft may be posing a safety risk. it all has to do with the way they find you. this morning, they plan to discuss loitering. d.c. has about 175,000 for-hire cars on the roads.

last night while walking along a highway, just outside the town where the shooting happened. he had been on the run for two days. police say mccarthy shot officer gary michael after a traffic stop on sunday. just a few hours ago, missouri's governor said that state is still grieving over the officer's tragic death. it's 5:34 and police in the region want our help right now to find this man. his name is charles woody. fairfax county police say he's been missing before. he was last seen driving a blue toyota camry in falls church justice, and the license plate says cm woody. his name. if you do see him, call police or 911. today st. mary's county will take a stand against the opioid crisis. they'll announce several indictments against drug dealers. yesterday we spoke with one mother who lost her son to an opioid addiction. >> we think every day what a gift he was

going to help someone, somewhere, at some time, so that they live. in maryland, there were 550 overdose deaths in the first three months of this year. that's up from 401 over the same period last year. officials say people tend to get introduced to opioids in high school, according to our news partners at wtop. virginia state police say there have been more than 350 drug overdoses and more than 80 deaths in the first six months of this year, and that's just in northern virginia. barbara comstock says there needs to be more emphasis on treatment options. today the prince george's county board of education will swear in a new member. dr. wiseman is the former dean of school of education at the university of maryland. the former board member resigned in june, saying there was dysfunction within the board and the school

county, where we'll soon learn if there will be a bus driver crisis. drivers have to let the school system know this week if they plan on coming back for another year. last year at this time, loudoun was short 89 bus drivers, creating problems for parents, causing kids to be late for school. to make driving positions more enticing, the school system has increased the pay, the benefits, re-drew some routes and adjust the some start times. a college park resident being honored for his heroism. last 24 hours. now north korea is saying it's reviewing a plan to strike the u.s. territory of guam. tracie potts is following this developing story. what steps are being taken to protect guam this morning? >> so guam's governor busy overnight, holding a news conference, posting a message on facebook, for the 200,000 residents there, assuring them they're safe, despite the threat from north korea, that they are looking at military options for a possible strike on this pacific territory of the united states. guam's governor says he's been in touch with homeland security, with the pentagon, with the white house, and that the u.s. has assured him that we will protect that u.s. territory in the middle of the pacific. president trump's words and the rhetoric going back and forth between the united states and north korea, raising concern here in guam as of the last 24 hours, seems to be caught in the middle. >> and the question now, is there a diplomatic solution to

the table, or on the table? where do we stand? >> it's not on the table yet. is there a diplomatic solution? there is certainly a diplomatic solution that the secretary of state has tried to pursue. he was just in the region. he's been talking about it. but his bottom line is, they've gotta stop sending missiles in the air for the u.s. to even come to the table. and now within the last 24 hours, another threat from north korea's army. according to state media, they are looking at military options for a strike against guam. that is not likely to bring the united states to the table to talk diplomacy and certainly not after what we heard from president trump. the other side of that, military experts say there's just not a really good military option here to avoid a major conflict. >> tracie potts on the hill this morning, thank you. and this is another opportunity for families concerned about immigration status, to find out their legal rights. d.c. leaders will host its second immigrant legal conference today. that conferenc

4:30 this afternoon. the final conference is tomorrow morning at the frank reeves center. participants do have to register online. >> if council goes through with this motion, it dilutes the meaning of citizenship. people in college park will have a few more weeks to make their voices heard about a new proposal. the plan would let people who are not just citizens vote in local elections. the city council has delayed any decision on this issue until september. if approved, college park would become the largest city in maryland to allow all adult residents to vote in local races. not surprisingly, emotions are running high to this debate. it's even caused police to investigate threats against council members. >> we are investigating threats. at this point, it's our homeland security bureau, prince george's county police that are investigating these threats. >> again, the measure only applies to local elections. at least ten other jurisdictions
