we're together again after a month of crazy vacationes. >> what's your name again? >> i know. i thought we would have to reintroduce ourselves. >> we all have to reset, take some time and we're ready to go. >> do you know who else is ready to go. >> i don't think she's ever not ready to go. >> lauren ricketts. what's up with all the rain? >> we got a lot of rain yesterday, we had some flooding, we had severe weather last night and now we're dealing the aftermath. still flood warnings out there, manassas, central prince william county, manassas park, a lot of flooded roadways around that region right there. be careful as you drive around early this morning. we are still seeing some rain showers trying to move into the area, i do believe that we could have a few rain showers as we continue through the morning but the heaviest stuff is out of here, just some light stuff that will stream up from the charlottesville area and slip to the south of d.c., a few showers cannot be ruled out early this morning. right now we are dry but with a little fog.

is on the muggy side as well. we do have another chance for showers and thunderstorms this afternoon so we will time it out for you in a few minutes. that flood warning is a big concern this morning. you are going to want to steer clear of all standing water. you've got to check it out here, be careful you are not driving through there. check out what happened to one driver in manassas who was caught off guard. we show you this all the time. as the storm moved in quickly the rain flooded some roads, the driver became trapped in rising waters. this is at suddley road and lee highway. in prince william county the storm was so strong that this tree came crashing down on this rv that was driving down the road. this was on john marshall highway. the husband and wife were on their way to a vacation, all of a sudden the tree limbs snapped and slammed on top of the roof there and the couple, they were trapped

take a look at this here. turned violent. hundreds marched with torches and fought with counter protesters. charlottesville mayor called it a quote cowardly parade of hatred, bigotry and intolerance. this was an unplanned event and police have to break it all up but it could be a preview of a rally today, it's called the unite the right. it's at a park that us today to be named for confederate general robert e lee, it's now called emancipation park. the white nationalists say that their history and culture is being wiped away, the national guard is on stand by in case of any violence there. many have spent time on jefferson davis highway in alexandria, it's named for the president of the confederacy but not for much longer. the city is taking suggestions for a new a name for route 1. you can weigh in through an online survey, with he put a link to it on the nbc washington app. there are two advisory meetings, one this coming thursday and one next month. 6:04. new overnight president trump now talking

dulles coming in at 69, everybody in the upper 60s to lower 70s at this point, you head out to the shenandoah valley it is a little on the cooler side, but again that's also where we have a little bit of fog. hourly temperatures over the next several hours we're moving into the mid 80s for daytime highs today but we to have those storm chances, we had a lot of those storms last night that moved through the area, that left some flooding and a lot of trees down around our region. i do believe some of this stuff that's around charlottesville will actually stream just south of us. we will have some more showers that will move into our area as we head through the morning before we get some midday sun and then we get some more storms this afternoon. we still have that flood warning up for the city of manassas, lots of flooded roadways out there, that goes until 9:30. in fact, this he extended it because it was supposed to be over at 4:15 but the water hasn't receded yet. >> mid 80s for daytime highs today. it will be muggy and chances of gentlemanen noon storms. we had a delay yesterday

time right now 6:30 on this saturday morning. here is what's going on. there is a flood warning in effect in manassas. it comes after a strong storm barrelled through last night. at least one driver had to be pulled from a flooded road there and crews had to take down a tree that crashed on to on rv on john marshall highway. today the national guard is in virginia preparing for violence like this. there is a white nationalist rally in charlottesville, it's called unite the right. last night white nationalists and black lives matter protesters fought on the uva campus. and there are $356 million with your name on them, the powerball jackpot is gigantic and the drawing is tonight. someone in illinois won the massive mega millions jackpot last night.

>> it's a lesson most schools haven't had in the classroom until now. julie carey explains how it all works. >> i'm already thinking about how i can incorporate this in my classroom. >> reporter: it's called the positivity project. it was launched in a handful of fairfax county schools last year. the results were so good another 15 may sign on for this year. it works by teaching 24 character strengths throughout the school year, working them into each class in a have a right of ways. the idea, to help students build stronger relationships with peers and adults. so why is this needed? most of us didn't get lessons on character and building relationships, but we didn't have these, either, and now all the texting and social media really limits the social interaction. >> we know from the research that reelgts ships are the number one predictor of life satisfaction. if we can slowly move the needle for students on b
