this saturday morning, thank you for starting your day with us, i'm adam tuss. >> and i'm angie goff. we want to begin with the weather locally around here because a lot of people are waking up to damage and even more flood watches. >> a mess out there, lauren. >> it is. we had a lot of those storms that rolled through the area yesterday, felt so bad for amelia because she was here by herself yesterday, tornado and severe storm warnings through the 11:00 hour last night. we're not seeing anything right now, quiet on the radar with the exception of a few light showers. yesterday three-quarters of an inch in the d.c. area, some areas in prince william county got over 3 1/2 inches. we have a few light rain showers continuing to move through, mainly southern maryland. they may get as far north as alexandria, but most of this staying to the south and east of us. if you're traveling on i-95 you are dealing with rain showers especially south through virginia. here is our flood warning, that is until 9:30 for manassas, manassas park, prince william county. again, until 9:30. broad run creek has already

we will continue to watch some of those roads around there. more rain this afternoon, the timing in a few minutes. the flood warning is a big concern today. you will want to watch out for any standing water like this if you are out and about. take a look at this driver here that actually got stuck. this was out here manassas, this driver totally caught off guard and the storm moved in quickly. the rain came and flooded some roads, this driver here became trapped in rising waters and the storm was definitely dangerous for some people at sudley road and around that area. rescue crews were able to rescue the stranded driver there. in prince william county the storm was so strong that this tree came crashing down on this rv that was just driving down the road. it was on john marshall highway not far from the fauquier county line. a husband and line were on their way to a vacation so they were inside. all of a sudden the tree limbs snapped, slamming on top of the

welcome back. if you have a healthcare plan through the affordable care act in virginia you might soon lose your coverage. anthem blue cross blue shield says it will stop offering individual health insurance plans under the aca. now, this could impact about 200,000 people. anthem is the third insurance company to pull its coverage in the commonwealth. it comes as president trump has threatened to cut funding to insurance companies that subsidize plans for low income people. more legal action is under way in the case against a virginia school and its tlans bathroom ban. the american civil liberties union filed paperwork asking a court toma

bowser administration for not fixing the problem sooner. prayers continue this morning for a local police chief who remains in intensive care. chief devan martin was critically hurt after a motorcycle crash thursday night. he was patrolling martin luther king jr. highway when he collided with another highway. that driver did stay on the scene and others rushed in to help. police are still looking into how this crash happened. a quick thinking contractor now being credited for saving people from a burning building in leaalexandria. you can see how those orange flames are shooting out of the third story windows there. this was at a condo building on valley drive. edwin parotta says he was working outside when he heard those screams. >> you can't see inside because there's a lot of smoke everywhere. i don't want to let her behind me, you know, behind -- >> wow. well, the family was taken to the hospital for

too, you know that. >> totally. >> talk about the weather today. >> yeah. >> the humidity also was a factor this morning. >> it's bad out there, you walk outside, it's just right in your face. as we continue through the day the humidity is still going to be there but also rain chances with a frontal system but behind that front that's when the humidity drops. in fact, your sunday not looking too shabby. let's look outside because we have haze out there, we have fog. it's just not a good looking saturday morning out there. our live capital camera west of town trying to get sunshine but they also have haze and fog as well. dense fog in some spots. more storms out there today. we also have a few showers out there right now. it is muggy. now, sunday is not too bad and then we warm back up with the humidity back in for next week. current temperatures out there now we're still sitting at 74 in the district, shenandoah valley out in the 60s at this point, everybody else around that 70 degrees mark. here is some of that rain coming through the northern neck and also into southern maryland.

the middle of the northern neck, but a lot of this rain you can see the trend it's moving to the north and east, mainly just scooting south of the southern tier of the beltway. southern maryland getting hit, i-95 getting hit from quantico down to richmond. one area is not getting hit too bad right now, a few sprinkles out in prince william county but we do have the flood warning for the manassas area, manassas park, city of manassas, they've extended this because broad run has made it to flood stage over the last hour. we will continue to watch that. a lot of closed roadways around manassas. please follow police direction. visibility is really low out in the shenandoah valley, even loudoun county and frederick county maryland. be careful, that fog will eventually burn off as we go through the morning. i do believe we will get sunshine mid forng, temperatures in the mid 80s, sunshine is not your friend today because we have storms later on this aftern w

through our area. so if you're headed to county fairs, prince william county has their fair, also montgomery county, better day tomorrow. alexandria sidewalk sale, late afternoon storms. nats game could be played once again today. i know they were canceled yesterday or postponed until tomorrow with the doubleheader player. giants from the west coast, we are looking at scattered storms for the first inning and maybe a few showers continuing through the middle part of the day. i do believe there could be another rain delay. there's rain out there this morning out to southern maryland, we get a little dry and see some sunshine but look at this, anytime after about 3:00 or 4:00 we will see some storms moving through the area, some could pack a little bit of a punch, heavy downpours, lots of lightning, i do not believe they will be quite as widespread and severe as yesterday but we could still see stronger ones. 86 degrees for tomorrow with much lower humidity, but the humidity after it drops tomorrow will start to move back in as we head into monday and it stays

we do have some drying conditions tomorrow thank goodness after afternoon storms today, isolated chances of storms on monday and better chance of rain south and east before we dry out mid next week. all right. derrick ward out in hay market right now surveying some of that storm damage from yesterday. derek. >> reporter: lauren, we saw some of that fog you were talk being on the way down here, but this is what we saw once we got here. we are on john marshall highway we just reopened a short time ago. some of this depp bri could be moved out of the roadway. things are clear now. we're over broad run and it's expected that there's going to be some flooding issues there possibly later, too, if we do get what we've been expecting, but this tells you about the high winds that came through here last night. pretty significant tree damage here. you see some damage to the guardrail as well. eventually that's going to have to be replaced because it has been compromised. now, take a look at some video. we have some shots of flooding in other places like manassas, cars under water, things like
