trump's initial response to the charlottesville virginia. he's leaving the president's manufacturing council. plank says his company will focus on promoting, quote, unity, diversity and inclusion. he joins the ceo of merck pharmaceuticals who left yesterday. they were upset president trump did not explicitly condemn white nationalists after it turned deadly in charlottesville. we have yet to hear from the president on this, how the crowd greeted him in new york. thousands of people you see there chanting shame as his motorcade made its way to trump tower in new york city last night. dozens of trump supporters were also there. back here in the dtr

dozens of demonstrators march from the white house to pennsylvania avenue. they chanted things like no kkk, no fascist usa. >> further down south, take a look at the anti-racist rally in durham, north carolina. protesters pulled down the confederate statue outside the county courthouse. the group cheered and started kicking it and hitting it after it fell to the ground. now to the woman who has become the face of the charlottesville violence. today there will be a memorial for heather heyer. everyone is asked to wear purple. she was killed on saturday after police say a man drove a car into a group of protesters. heyer's father comes out and he forgives the suspect. >> 20 years old. he don't have sense enough to make a lifelong decision about nothing. i for

shift at a local hospital to find someone set fire to her gay pride flag. >> that's what police told me. >> she responded by flying the burned flag one story higher and placing this poster in her window. also sunday, a hate-based incident near east jefferson street. about 2:15 p.m. a man heard a couple conversing in arabic and made anti-muslim comments and assaulted the husband. >> people gathered in a circumstance tol pray for peace and tolerance. attorney general mark herring attended. he was asking if he believes the murder of heyer meets the standards to be domestic terrorism. >> it's clear that the person, the suspect weaponized his car and intended to

to fire at that suspect. he was taken to the hospital and he should be okay. police spoke to the other two men in the car. the name has not been released. new details this morning. the fallout at united medical center in northeast. officials ordered the hospital to stop delivering babies because of what's being called dangerous mistakes that staff made with pregnant women and newborns. according to a letter obtained by the "washington post," there were a number of instances that led to the shutdown. the letter lays out two categories of violations, failure to comply with good standards of medical practice and failure to report a case of hiv infection. the shutdown will remain in place for 90 days or until they have a plan for obstetric and nursing services. zooits it's 4:07. if you live in montgomery and prince george's county, you may have noticed that you have brown water flowing out o

after a stunt woman was killed. this happened in canada on monday on the movie set. she was on a motorcycle when she lost control and crashed into a starbucks. they have shut down for now. a mid century painting, only to discover it was stolen decades ago. that's exactly what happened to a new mexico couple. the painting is called woman ogre. it was stolen from the university of arizona museum of art back in 1985. a couple bought the painting at an estate sale and figured out it was stolen after customers at their furniture shop started asking about it. the painting was returned to the original museum, but sheena, no word on whether or not they got anything for doing the good deed and returning it. well, they should have gotten something at least. it's always nice to get something. >> too early to think about the weekend? >> you know what, not too

spoke with the prime minister overnight. both agreed on the importance of preventing north korea from launching missiles towards guam. the violence in charlottesville, maryland -- kevin plank announced he's leaving the president's american manufacturing council. >> his company will focus on unity, diversity and inclusion through sports. he joins kenneth frazier, the ceo of merck pharmaceutical and brian -- the ceo of intel who backed out yesterday. the president criticized frazier sharply at his departure on twitter. the ceos were upset that president trump did not explicitly condemn white nationalists this weekend after the rally in charlottesville turned violent. the president did condemn the group in a statement yesterday. president trump has yet to comment on the crowd that greeted him in new york.
