by the president yesterday in which he divided america, refused to condemn the hateful hate groups in charlottesville, how it all began, chanting anti-semitic remarks saying white people have a right to rule america. david duke calling the president out saying, look, we elected you, you owe us. the counter-demonstrators should learn something about how to be more effective. in my years as a reporter the most impressive thing i ever saw was a northern violent movement of dr. martin luther king. that moved this country because they were able to concentrate on the moral portions there. everybody has to take a look at what's going on. most of all, there has to be widespread condemnation of these hate groups that went to charlottesville and now feel empowered by the president's remarks. >>re

from here? how do we move on from this point? >> reporter: i don't know. it really does require presidential leadership of a higher order to bring the country together. now the question will be, how many members of his administration will feel they have to leave because they can't support those policies. do they come out and read some kind of statement. that won't be enough. he has to find a way to stitch the country back together again, frankly, i don't know whether he's capable of doing that in his own mind. this is the donald trump everybody in new york came to know when he was a businessman. he would always see things through his own prism. now he's the president of the united states and it's always somebody else's fault. mitch mcconnell's fault because they didn't get healthcare, someone else's fault. he's the moral authority by the office that he has and it's about time for him to exercise

released. >> he is in a prison in peru after confessing to the 2010 murder of a young woman there. >> joran is the last person seen with my daughter. he knows what happened. >> reporter: after 12 years of false hopes and dead ends, he hired investigator t.j. ward and appeared in a new oxygen series to investigate the latest lead in the whereabouts of natalee's leads. >> we have a person who says he was directly involved with joran van der sloot in disposing of natalee's remains. i thought, there may be something to this. >> reporter: it came from a man named gabriel who says his friend helped dispose of her remains. >> reporter: if true and her remains are found it could lead to a conviction and finally, justice for natalee. >> we chased a lot of lot of leads. this one is by far the most credible lead i've seen in the

>> now, with natalee's father, dave holloway and provide investigator and friend t.j. ward. >> i listened to you talk earlier, to lose your daughter and not know where her body is, that is unimaginable for any parent. >> it's something i wouldn't wish on anyone, hard to deal with. >> over the years, you just don't know -- >> you try to look for something to give you closure. we had some sort of closure back when joran killed this other girl in peru and put in prison. we looked at that and said, it's not justice for natalee but he's in prison and we feel deeply for the parents of the other girl, that and we declared her deceased. we went through a closure

process. >> can you talk about the decision and we will document what you guys were finding and t.j.'s investigation led to this new lead. >> we've been working on this the last 18 months. i have been involved in this case for 12 years with my effort to bring closure for the holloway family. we had an individual come forward named gabriel. he shared information with us from an individual he knew friends with joran van der sloot. this individual started giving gabriel information and gabriel brought that information to me. gabriel started giving us leads and giving us information we found to be true. in the course of that, they went to this area on the island, behind this individual and were able to -- he took gabriel there and they dug up human remains. they brought those remains

and we took those remains and had them tested and sent off and they came back to be human. >> this is the first time we know this now this morning, right? >> yes. gabriel was very concerned. he's a parent, was concerned about dave and his family and information he was hearing from this individual and took the responsibility of calling dave and had him deal with me and he was very helpful in the information he shared. >> you talk about the fact any time you get a new lead, it's like reliving this over and over again. right now, you're in this waiting period to find out the identity. what is this like for you right now? >> over the past 12 years i've conditioned myself for basically failure. every lead we followed, it ends up no good. i went into this process very very skeptical, had the wall up, looking for ways of other excuses or whatever to say, this

this, is that right? >> yeah. back in 2015 we had a lead at the marriott hotel. the individual gave us some information that natalee was buried up under that hotel. after t.j. and i worked on it for some time we realized through help of the fbi that that was untrue. after that fall on the floor, so to speak, with me and my family, i said, i'll never ever lead my family on in a lead i'm not sure about. t.j. and i kept it between ourselves and proceeded on to protect me and my family. >> now, when do you think you'll find out? about how much longer? another week or two? >> it may take several weeks to learn the information whether it is natalee's remains. ift
