right now to the radar. aim tracking a severe thunderstorm popped up to the south of us in prince georges county. we are watching that continue to track towards the east. let's head to the radar right now. there it is there. you can see lots of lightning with the storm, very heavy rain, and a very strong wind at about 60 miles an hour. again, continuing to move towards the east. zooming in and tracking that, you can see areas like darnell, we will see it arrive around 11:03, so in a couple of minutes there, soon after that owings also picking up on this. the severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for calvert county, southern prince georges county as well as charles county until 11:30 tonight as the storm continues to push towards the east. bigger picture shows most of us dry. a little back scatter there, but for the most part you head further south and we're watching heavy showers south of warrenton continuing to cross 15 and south of manassas as well. we are not expecting temperatures in the 50s, rather the 70

jim's chili bowl for the mural unveiling for our own jim vance. he was 84 years old. a new law in virginia is helping to battle the opioid crisis. it expands access to narcan. people gathered at the oakland library to train on how to use it. it is one of the first grassroots events since the law took effect. the chris atwood foundation organized the session. in addition to learning how to use it, people got free doses to take home. tonight, tempers flaring in dallas, texas, the scene of protests over confederate statues. you're about to see new video of the gathering outside city hall. police are estimating a crowd of more than 2,300. hours after it wrapped up things got tense at pioneer park, a civil war cemetery that houses a memorial to confederate statues. a scuffle

supporters of the confederate monument and counter demonstrators. there were no major injuries in boston today, tens of thousands of counts protesters flooded the speech drowning out the small right wing free speech rally. a few altercations but no serious injuries. police made a handful of arrests, mostly for disorderly conduct or assaulting police officers. the mayor said today boston stood for peace and love, not bigotry and hate in other news tonight, it was the final result, red skins fans were hoping for. it wasn't the final result -- we weren't looking forward to this, carol. what happened? >> well, it was something all right. they wanted to see something and they got it. jay gruden just told us that he kept the first teamers in there because he wanted to have something to build off of. a 21-17 loss though tonight so it was not what they wanted. it comes after a few lows and a few highs. let's take the tape.

the shooting happened at 8:00 tonight on 41st street. medics took the hospital to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. the shooter has not been arrested. summer is almost over and parents are making last-minute trips to get the students what they need for the school year. some military families in our area got a headstart. they packed the springfield hilton for the annual back-to-school brigade. operation home front came out more than 750 backpacks filled with everything the kids will need to get off to a great start. our nbc 4 clearing the shelves campaign was a huge success. we will tell you about it and how many pets have homes now. we're counting down the days until the solar eclipse.

we want to revisit our top story. a man arrested after police say he confessed to killing his six-year-old situation tster an young cousins. darcy spencer spoke to neighbors. >> it rocked me as a mom living in this community. >> reporter: this woman lives near the home where three little girls were stabbed to death. fresh bouquets of flowers sat near the driveway by those disturbed by what happened, those who want to show they care. >> we as a community would like to support the family in any way we can. >> reporter: police released this video of the man accused in the triple murder. he is antonio

the children he allegedly killed. police say the victims were his six-year-old sister and his six and nine-year-old cousins. >> emotions are high. you go from one minute when you're angry to the next minute of pure sadness. >> reporter: victor cruz lives nearby. he says he heard the mom screaming after making the unthinkable discovery. you couldn't imagine her anguish. >> i'm a father of three boys, all under ten and it was pretty tough to know that three kids -- i mean just lose their lives. >> reporter: we found this note posted on a relative's door saying in part, our hearts are extremely heavy, asking for understanding as the family copies with this loss. darcy spencer, news 4 the big eclipse is monday and we have a warning for drivers. there's a sign on 495 in prince georges county urging folks not to pull over to catch a glimpse of the

as jay gray reports, people around the country are planning how they'll get the perfect view. >> reporter: this weekend millions are making the trek to totality, packing highways, airports and train stations from oregon through south carolina to get a spot along the 70-mile wide path where the sun will be completely blocked by the moon. casper, wyoming is one of the cities along the path. >> we're on the center line. we are having people come in from all over the world. >> reporter: tens of thousands to get a glimpse of history, many spilling into the streets this weekend with downtown shut down for the casper eclipse festival, the celestial celebration. ♪ >> reporter: music to the ears of business owners here. >> business wise we are up. we've been up like 800% over this time last year. >> reporter: casper is also hosting astro

search "eclipse." >> now your storm team 4 forecast. >> i have our local forecast for the eclipse coming up, but right now i want to focus in on southern prince georges county as well as parts of calvert county, southern an arundel. you're under a severe thunderstorm warning until 11:30 people. getting ready to expire, but the storm packing a punch still. heavy rain as you can see with the deep red color. lots of lightning, strong winds gusting 60 miles an hour. it will push east ward and within the next 20 to 30 minutes you should be in the clear. it is the last of the severe weather. we are dry in the district heading further south towards wood bridge. a light shower there. just south of warenton a little more heavy and that will continue to pull to the east. last of the rain moving through, model showing by 2:00 a.m. you can see we're pretty dry, also clearing out overnight. moving into your sunday, really spectacular weather for sunday, staying drys, mostly

i-80 corridor. for us we will stay quiet from your sunday into parts of monday. monday starts to get a little iffy as we head into the afternoon. still most of us dry. this is around the time we will see the eclipse peaking. you can see here most is still pretty quiet. a chance for showers a little farther north and east ward. we will keep an eye on that. then we see the shower chance rev up towards the evening. by that time we would have seen the eclipse push through. current temperatures 75 degrees, no sun, but we're seeing dry conditions as we head through the overnight hours. tomorrow here is a look at your fitness forecast. we will see these temperatures in the 70s, rising into the mid 80s by midday if you are hitting the pavement late afternoon, highs in the upper 80s so warmer heading throughout the day, but the lower humidity should make it feel comfortable. a good amount of sunshine for the fitness forecast as well. able absolutely beautiful. here is a look at the eclipse forecast i told you. about
