get another foot of rain today. the situation called dire. the city under mandatory curfew in houston. officials are saying people were looting abandoned homes. the curfew will expire at 5:00 this morning in about a half hour. at least nine people died from the storm. there's no official number, but dozens of photos have been circulating. storms like this remind us how much we take for granted. amelia draper is in texas and showed us how hard it has gotten to find food there. look at this line outside a grocery store in webster, texas. people waited more than two hours to stock up on basic stuff. back at the hotel, sat down with coast guard lieutenant to talk about what flying during harvey has been like. >> it's been weather like i've never seen, flying through

this is the scene a lot of us will never forget. a melee breaking out near the turkish embassy back in may, happened as the turkish president met with president trump at the white house. a grand jury indicted 19 people, 15 identified as turkish security officials. they're indicted on charge of conspiracy to commit a crime of violence. diplomatic immunity could protect some officials from prosecution. only two have been arrested. defense secretary james mattis putting a hold on president trump's ban on transgender troops serving in the military. that means current transgender service members will be allowed to keep serving while the pentagon studies the issue. the president signed an order friday giving the defense secretary until february to submit a plan implementing the new policy. 4:33. today parents of a six-year-old girl allegedly killed by her big brother will say their final goodbyes.

funeral services begin this morning at 9:00 at first baptist church in landover. antonio williams charged with stabbing the little girl and two other cousins this month, also children. all girls under ten years old. police say williams confessed to the crimes but didn't say why he killed them. a warning using the red line, metro police want you to be on the lookout for this man. wayne anthony daymons. police say a teenage girl says he inappropriately touched her and exposed himself on a glen month bound train monday. if you know where he is, please contact police. a night at the bar turns into a nightmare for a woman. she says a man allegedly kidnapped her and drove her all over town. it started early morning hours of august 19, a woman leaving heaven and hell accepted a ride from a guy she met at the bar.

him to let her out of the car but he wouldn't let her, he refused. it wasn't until she asked to use the restroom that she was able to get away from him. he was arrested and charged with kidnapping. new video this morning showing a bus driver desperately trying to stop his bus from driving away, happened yesterday in new york city. the driver got out of the bus, and it started to roll backwards. take a look. he tried to stop the bus and was eventually pinned against a light pole and fell to the ground. the bus kept rolling, crashed into a fence eventually. the driver is in critical condition. this morning, roger federer is trending on twitter for his performance during the u.s. open. we're excited because a prince george's county native gave one of tennis' greatest players a real run for his

they forecast it to make landfall between 9:00 and 10:00 this morning. back in houston, more than 17,000 people are staying in shelters because their homes are underwater. joel oh steen says his megachurch is now a shelter. he tweeted saying they care about houston and lakewood church's doors are open. he was blasted on social media for not letting people in the megachurch sooner. he says it never closed, despite a post on the twitter feed that told flood victims it was inaccessible. the 16,000 seat arena was once home to houston rockets. president trump back in washington overseeing the government response to harvey. >> this comes after his trip to texas yesterday where he got firsthand a look at all of the damage and promised to get texans back on their feet. >> i just want to say we love you, you are special, we're

according to news partners at wtop, fair officials ban display of the confederate battle flag. the flag had been on display at the fair for years. officials want to take steps to prevent any type of violence. the fair is scheduled to run from september 14 through the 17th. also want to update this. there's a new clue in vandalism of the confederate statue in leesburg, virginia. loudoun sheriff's office releasing this photo of two potential witnesses. we're told they were in the area at the time, may have seen something. someone spray painted the confederate statue on the courthouse grounds. it happened earlier this month. the graffiti was removed, and there was no permanent damage. last week, detectives released surveillance video of two suspects. and correction for you this morning. today students that never knew second lieutenant richard collins iii take a moment to honor his memory. moment of silence at buoy state

"the washington post" reports that paul montero ticked off his campaign for the democratic party nomination. he is a former obama administration official that grew up in prince george's county. the current executive, baker, is limited by term and is running for governor now. a big win for many considered parents in prince george's county. the school district has ended a deal for future cell phone towers on its properties. the county school chief executive officer dr. kevin maxwell says the decision was part of commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment for students. milestone communications which would have built that future tower will continue to manage the seven existing

this town. >> certainly are. close to the 5:00 a.m. hour. a lot different story than what we saw yesterday at this time drying out. >> absolutely. dry weather coming back into the picture. don't get too used to it. we have to deal with moisture for harvey for sat plans. between now and then, the weather is pretty nice. here's the latest on what was hurricane, now tropical storm harvey. center of the storm about 20 miles off the coast of louisiana, making a closing run at the coastline. it will be a very wet day down across parts of louisiana, far eastern texas. the real concern for us is what happens to moisture as you get into the weekend. track of the storm and moisture, even though it isn't a tropical system, moving into parts of kentucky by early saturday morning. that means that we will also be dealing with rain around here. there's a check of radar. you can see the rain on the texas coastline.
