perspective, the normal overnight lows should be around 67 degrees. tonight in the upper 50s, low of 0s number a major departure. but today the highs were in the 60s. we should be around 84 degrees for highs in the d.c. metro area. take a look right now. tonight dropping into the upper 50s, low 60s. 63 in washington, back towards the blue ridge into the upper 50s. of course you get cooler the farther you move from the city. as we head into tomorrow, we are expecting to see -- i'm sorry, a little issue with my clicker. nonetheless, as we held into tomorrow we will see things begin to rebound. as for showers, we could see a few isolated showers throughout the evening, but they're continuing to diminish. temperatures dropping into the upper 50s, lower 60s. back to you, erika thanks, somara. one person killed and two others injured in southeast d.c. gunfire

tonight in the 1500 block of tubman road. we find darcy spencer there live with more on what led to the shooting. darci. >> reporter: erika, you can see it is still a very active investigation. you can see the tape is still up here, blocking the street. i just talked to a d.c. police official. he said there is no update on this investigation, but a family of a 19-year-old who was killed here is in mourning. police used flashlights to search for evidence in the dark after a triple shooting on tubman road in southeast d.c. this holiday weekend. >> oh, my god! >> reporter: family members are extremely emotional as they learn a young woman who just turned 19 years old had been killed in the gunfire. a man was also shot and wounded. a third victim suffered a minor graze wound. witnesses tell me there were many shots fired right around 7:00 in the evening. police taped o

area where the investigation. police were focusing on a home where the victims were standing when the shots rang out. family members say the young woman lived here and they have no idea why anyone would want to hurt her. police are still searching for the shooter. >> it is a very unfortunate incident obviously. and just, again, just reinforcing the fact that we need to make sure we get illegal guns off the streets. >> reporter: as i said, police are still searching for the shooter and for a motive in this triple shooting. back to you darcy, we saw from that video emotions running high out there. i know you talked to the family. what are they saying to you tonight? >> reporter: well, it is an extremely emotional scene. there are still a lot of family members here. i'm not sure if you are able to see them from our vantage point, but dozens of people here on the scene. obviously very upset, very overwhelmed with emotion, with the loss of this teenage girl. we

a lot of police are here right now. there was someone who did try to cross over the crime scene tape and go toward the scene, so obviously it is an emotional situation for the family and police are handling that. just asking everyone to respect the crime scene tape, to stay behind the sandhya pat behind the tape to continue their investigation. many people told me that teenager just celebrated her 19th birthday. it is a sad evening for them. back to you darcy spencer, reporting in southeast d.c. for us tonight. thank you president trump and the first lady getting some face time with harvey survivors days after landfall some people still dealing with floodwaters that continue to rise. the president returned to that area today. he wants billion also of dollars more in disaster relief, but as nbc's jay gray shows us recovery is still a long way off for many storm survivors. >> i'm proud to introduce you to the id

an e-mail sent to university of maryland latino students describing them as mediocre and pretty bad leads to the forced resignations of a visiting professor and volume up tear. according to "the washington post" professor martin graber said he accidentally sent an e-mail to the students about who had been accepted into the mock trial class, but his e-mail included comments from his daughter, abigail graber, who is a lawyer and assistant coach to criticized latino students.

he and his daughter will no longer be involved in that class russian government officials blasted the trump administration today after u.s. authorities took control of three russian diplomatic posts including the russian annex in d.c. russian authorities say the actions to close all three, including one in new york and san francisco, violates international law. last month russia forced the u.s. to cut its diplomatic personnel in russia to 455 people. russia says it may retaliate because of today's actions. animal rescue groups are clearing the shelters in texas to make room for pets who were displaced by harvey. when were there as 20 dogs arrived in northwest dc today. take a look at those happy faces. the animal also were already homeless before harvey hit. the humane rescue alliance is going to care for the dogs until they're ready for adoption in a few days, and you can do that. you can help with that, and you won't have to

while being cuffed by a police officer sparked outrage, and now there are call also for a criminal investigation. the incident happened in july at a hospital in salt lake city. the officers confronted the nurse who refused to let them take blood from an unconscious patient. they wanted the blood work to investigate a crash after a man tried to run from police. both officers are now on paid leave. it's going to be a long time until the victims of harvey get back on their feet, and the out pouring of support has been incredible. people spent part of their day doing what they can to help. derrick ward has more on the generosity of strangers. >> reporter: how you doing? >> good. >> reporter: they got started early in the city of buoy, and shortly after they opened the doors to city hall the spare change started to pileup. the coins are part of a cause. >> we heard on the news they

ford, news four. >> your storm team 4 forekase. >> i'm meteorologist some mara theodore. right now the rain is pretty much out of here, but we're tracking visibility issues. it is a half a mile at dulles. you know once it gets to a quarter of a mile we start to see the critical point, but we will see patchy fog tonight. we saw the cool weather today, temperatures in low to mid 60s, and of course the rain. i even got stuck in a downpour myself. take a look at the radar. this is what it is going to be like overnight. very intermittent rain, isolated shower, a chance to see showers off to the west of i-81 corridor, towards northern maryland, north of fredrick there. we will be pretty dry in the dc metro area but i don't want to rule out a passing shower or two into tomorrow morning. timing it out, notice how most of the rain is already gone. by sunday afternoon we may lose a good amount of clouds. we

conditions in here tomorrow evening. our forecast is taking a turn for the better heading to monday. by monday morning we are cloud free, mostly clear sunday night into the afternoon 4:00 p.m., we are talking brilliant sunshine, so labor day panning out to be a beautiful one. we have our eye to the tropics here in the storm team 4 weather center and we're keeping an eye on irma. that eye seems to be covered by a canopy but still there and a strong hurricane. we are looking at category two at the moment, winds at 110 miles an hour. it is still too early to give a definitive forecast on how or if it will impact the continental u.s. for now we know the lesser antilles have to keep their eyes on the storm. it is expected to reach category four status by thursday at 8:00 p.m. so we will be watching the storm very closely in the coming days, and we'll have more on that forecast as we get closer to the top of next week. the timing we want to look out for is
