have no way out now. this is a situation that we're going to follow very closely. members of virginia taskforce one home less than 24 hours from saving lives in hurrican harvey, and are preparing for another possible deployment to florida because of irma. cameras were there as members of the taskforce reunited with families last night. they said all their training could not have prepared them for what they encountered in texas. >> there was actual swift water in apartment complexes. the drainage areas, oil seeping through the grounds. >> many members of taskforce one say they're ready and eager to help more victims of another natural disaster. a montgomery county maryland teen that helped in texas is due home this afternoon. we will be

five years. opponents filed for a temporary restraining order to lift that closure. people that use the trail say they were not given enough notice of closing, that the detour takes them down a busy street. keep an eye on the nbc washington app for updates this afternoon. he pled guilty to killing his estranged wife in cold blood before going on a shooting spree. today, he will be sentenced in a death in prince george's county. he got four consecutive life terms for the deaths of two people in montgomery county. today he faces life without parole again. the bureau chief tracee wilkins will be in the courtroom. president trump pushing congress to act on deferred action for childhood arrivals. it came hours after the attorney general announced end of the program with six month delay. the president took his message to twitter saying if congress doesn't legalize it, he will revisit the issue. it is unclear what

this. the bus was engulfed in flames. this is cell phone video a viewer sent from the balcony just before 6:00. stabbing at a prestigious private school in glover park, d.c. >> the girl that stabbed a fellow student won't be charged. we learned the suspect is the daughter of a diplomat who stabbed a 13-year-old boy twice in the shoulder with scissors at the british international school of washington. police detained the girl, but because of diplomatic i mmunity they didn't pursue charges. >> the suspect has been identified, however because of diplomatic status, there's no arrest at this time. >> at this point it is up to the u.s. attorney's office to decide what to do next. the boy is expected to make a full recovery. we continue to watch rain showers trying to m

here on capitol hill, seems to be the will to do something, particularly by republicans who say that president obama's order allowing them to stay in the first place was a big overreach, that they need to make the law. the question is what will the law include. legal status, path to citizenship, how long can they stay, what restrictions in place. we have been down this path before, getting an immigration piece done by congress, some want to bring in the wall, funding for the wall, getting it done on capitol hill isn't easy. >> tracie, what does this mean for people protected by daca in the meantime? >> reporter: right, important question. what it means right now is that they have to apply within the next month to extend their permit two years. that process is only open through october 5th. means we are talking about 800,000 people, trying to get permits in and get

i'm angie goff at the live desk with breaking news. the military force in south korea is growing with increasing possibility of another threat from north korea. south korea just announcing it is adding more launchers to the thad system, designed as defense against a missile launch. it is something that kim jong-un has specifically criticized. this is video from the other day when south korea made a military show of force. tensions keep rising by the day. >> we saw what vladimir putin says should be done. can you talk about that? >> this is a continuing story. we heard from putin yesterday. now he is reiterating sanctions are not the answer. he met with the president of south korea, said more sanctions push north korea into a corner, doesn't think iwi
