cuba that could slow things down. that will be beneficial for us over towards parts of the u.s. and in parts of key west. look where the eye comes in. this is monroe county, this is the ever glades, not a lot of people live here, this could be saving grace for areas like miami that are just out of it, but coming in with winds of 145 miles an hour, that's the officials from the national hurricane center. you just get off the surface and we're talking about 10 stories up. amelia is here with more on that. >> we're talking about this hurricane, it really does come down to the really kind of finite details in number to track 10 miles one way or another could make a difference. talking about the wind impacts, i'm going to go over a few numbers, since andrew, that was 25 years ago, buildings have now have to withstand in florida a category 2, that's winds of 110 miles an hour. this is the number i want you to

impact, you'll see wind up to 186 miles per hour. this is why we're saying this is going to cause a will lot of destruction and a lot of devastation. >> miami had an explosion of buildings that tall, 60-story buildings, we'll see what happens over the next couple of days, as this storm moves up towards the tampa bay area, orlando and jacksonville, i tell all my friends in orlando, you'll expect at least a category 1, if not a category 2 hurricane. most structures can handle that. the big threat there is going to be trees coming down on top of houses, that is the biggest threat. but, structures should actually stand their way through this storm. i think it's orlando is better, jacksonville better with this storm. we're worried about charleston, savannah, this storm track now and the way it's coming in, much less damage in those areas down towards the carolinas. i really think the carolinas are breathing a sigh of relief.
