and laughter, he meant it and we felt it for sure. vance passed away july 22nd at the age of 75 after a brief battle with cancer. >> started anchoring here in 1972. there was no anchorman vance, it was vance doing his job. >> right. >> we got to see who he is, who he was and people loved that. >> yeah. he really shared that part of him with the community, and i think that is what he would want us to remember, that it wasn't just all the big names, and there were plenty of them who showed up to the cathedral, but all the people who have written in with cards, with e-mails, who even showed up at cathedral to say he was part of my life as well. people really appreciated him. >> we'll be right back.

continues for a missing 14 greerld rockville. this is kevin michael franklin. his family hasn't seen him since he left home around 5:30 monday evening. friends and family went searching for him around his home on pit place. i'm angie goff here at the live desk. protesters surrounded another statue in charlottesville last night. this time it was not someone associated with the confederacy. it's a statue of founding father thomas jefferson. overnight you could see and hear protestors putting up a sign saying t.j. is a racist and rapist. they covered the statue in black, the same thing the city did to stat use of robert e. lee and stone wall jackson. someone removed that tarp. president jefferson founded the university of virginia in

congress has passed a resolution condemning the deadly violence in charlottesville last month. both of virginia's senators condemned the measure. the resolution urges president trump to speak out against those groups. it is now headed to his desk for signature. the republican push to cut your taxes heats up today. >> house speaker paul ryan and senator ted cruz will make the case for the cut in separate appearances. this comes after president trump met with a group of bipartisan lawmakers at the white house. news 4 rae's tracie potts is live on capitol hill. tracie, where do things stand on coming up with a bill for this tax cut? >> reporter: the president wants to cut corporate taxes, business taxes big time. the white house says as low as possible. he got together with republicans and democrats last night. democrats afterwards released a few statements outlining where they want this to go. they want to see incentives for businesses that keep jobs here,

simplifying the tax code without dealing with the debt which isn't even going to touch until next year and they want policies that are pro family focus on and support families. so that discussion happened. as you noted, ryan and cruz talk today about whether they want to see tax reforms. the house is working on it, the senate is working on a bill that they're not quite ready to release yet. a lot of moving parts when it comes to tax reform. the story this morning, all sides or many of the sides seem to be talking. >> tracie potts on the hill for us. tracie, thank you. in just a few hours, hillary clinton will give her first live tv interview since losing the presidential election. she will sit down with matt lauer and savannah guthrie on the "today" show to talk about her new book "what happened." in the book clinton blames herself and others for losing the campaign. at a white house briefing yesterday reporters asked whether president trump plans to read the book? >>

wednesday. 4:50. montgomery county public schools should focus on career programs. the report says the county has a culture of high expectations when it comes to college prep but career prep is becoming as important in today's society. as the washington post reports, the study was presented to the school board yesterday. it includes several changes, including getting the advice of businesses in the county. it says having career programs across all high schools. residents of a condo complex may have some money coming to them. pepco and washington gas will pay the residents $100,000. the company shut off utilities last fall. they didn't give enough notice before shutting off services. if you lived there last october, call the ag's office to see if you're parf

nice afternoon. might take longer today than yesterday. 69 current bely. very sneaky start this morning. a lot of humidity around. generally a southerly flow bringing more humid air up to the south. what was irma is spinning her wheels down around parts of western tennessee. this is one of the outer most reaches of what was irma. it's not in the range this morning. a general track of light rain and showers extending from stafford, fredericksburg in southern maryland up i-95 into the capital beltway. east of the blue ridge. keep in mind, here's a look of future weather. don't expect a lot of rain. we're talking about 1/10 of an inch of rain or less. by 8:30, spits and sprinkles moving through. a showery morning commute up through about lunchtime. after lunch we should get the rainfall turned off. with any luck we'll get sunshine back hopefully by 2:00, 3:00. may take a little longer. we'll keep you postedn
