a look at the roads and rails with jack taylor in a second. as well as your weather with somara and chuck. >> first, we'll check in with chris lawrence with breaking news out of london. chris, what's going on? >> we're following the breaking news. a possible explosion in a subway station. we're seeing pictures that suggest it happened on a train. subway services shut down along the tube station. you're looking at a live picture. you can see all the first responders showed up. at least 50 firefighters there. we do want to show you this picture. the person who tweeted it out says he thinks this was the source of what happened. some sort of white bucket wire sticking out of it. the photo appears. again, we're not sure what it is. police only calling this an incident at this time. we don't know exactly what happened. they're still trying to determine that. >> chris, do we

aaron, eun. we're following breaking news. you've seen these pictures for the past three years. family and friends hoping, praying that jacob and sara hoggle would come home. that hope has ended now that sources confirm that their mother catherine has been charged with their murders. >> news 4's justin finch is live at the courthouse in rockville with more on what's happening today. just justin, good morning. >> reporter: eun, good morning. our sources are telling us that when hoggle enters district court today, she will be met with a formal indictment, formally charged with the murder of her son and daughter. you might recall that catherine hoggle has long been the focal point in her children's disappears. she faces several charges, including abduction and neglect. however, she has several questions raised about the state of her mental faculties. could she stand trial. for years, the answer has been no. she's spent the time in the psychiatric

meantime, never found, still out there her two children, 3-year-old sara and 2-year-old jacob. hoggle has been known to tell conflicting stories about their whereabouts. after several searches, she has still not yet given up where they could be or if they are alive or not. this reported indictment comes as we're hearing the initial charges against hoggle that kept her in custody were set to expire. today, our sources telling us that when she enters that courtroom, she will face an indictment for her children's murder. back to you guys in the studio. >> justin finch, live for us in rockville. developing this morning, through text messages and police reports, we're piecing together the last moments of laura wallen's life. they are heartbreaking. last night police confirmed how the pregnant teacher was killed. montgomery county police say wallen was shot in the back of the head. police say the boyfriend and the father of her unborn child pulled the trigger. the nine-day sea

house and ended in a rural field in damascus. chopper 4 was over the shallow grave where the body was found on wednesday. tyler tessier was living a double life. he asked laura wallen's father for permission to marry her despite already being engaged to other women. >> he has been deceiving and lying their entire existence. he is a monster, and he is a liar. >> police say they had suspected tessier's involvement in wallen's disappearance from the beginning. tessier is being held without bond. just before her death, laura wallen texted her sister and that text helped police find her body. we've posted those messages in the nbc washington app. just search laura wallen. it's now 5:05. here's a look at the other top

if florida still struggling to clean up after hurricane irma. you can see destroyed homes. some homes still without full power. in a few hours we'll have an update. for the second time in a few weeks, north korea launched a ballistic missile over japan. the u.n. security council will hold a meeting today to discuss the latest action. in a quick show of force, south korea responded to a missile tis of its own. that he called north korea's test a dangerous, provocative action. violent protests on inauguration day in downtown d.c. nearly 200 people were charged with that protest. they're now learning that the charges will not be dismissed. lawyers for the accused rioters say that

in the charging documents is not criminal, rather it's protected by first amendment speech. the judge disagreed, though. the alleged rioters will begin going to trial in groups later this year. dozens of events are planned across d.c. this weekend. from baseball to street festivals to protest marches, you may need to rethink some of your plans. >> megan mcgrath is working for you with what you need to know about the protests. megan, good morning. sounds like a busy weekend. >> reporter: yeah, very busy weekend. not just protests, there are a number of street festivals, but a lot of it is centered around the national mall. the rule of thumb given so many will be in town this weekend, especially saturday is to take public transportation. one thing to keep in mind is at the request of law enforcement, the smithsonian metro station, one. most convenient to all the activities, it is going to be closed. so keep that in mind. that is not an option for you. lots of road closures

this map kind of tells it all. major roads, including pennsylvania -- independence avenue as well as jefferson and madison street. so those are going to be closed. so you have to take some other routes there. one of the big events happening is the mother of all rallies. trump supporters will gather at 12th and the national mall on saturday. they will be rallying here. expect a crowd there. also rallying, a group called the juggalos. the fbi labeled them a gang. they'll be marching on d.c. starting near the lincoln memorial. so lots going on. so in terms of law enforcement, it's going to be all hands-on deck on saturday. >> because we have so many things going on, the entire police department will be working on saturday. they'll be working 12-hour shifts. we'll havle

got to show you this incredible rescue this morning, folks. you heard that mother screaming for firefighters to save her daughter. this is a burning house in texas. the rescue was captured on a police officer's body camera here. he breaks the window and starts searching for 13-year-old. can't find her, though. moments later another firefighter climbs through the window. he finds the girl. they pull her out together. >> you can see the panic in

those first responders went into that burning building to try to find her is incredible work. reminds you of what they have to do every single day. >> you can't credit them enough for the bravely they show on a daily basis running into a burning building. 5:15. welcome back everybody. i'm aaron gilchrist. i'm eun yang. here's a look at the top stories we're following for you this friday morning. a standing owe ration for the bravery of these teenagers after a fellow classmate started shooting in their high school. there was a community meeting last night at freeman high school in washington state. the superintendent of schools said every parent should be proud of how their child reacted. a 15-year-old is accused of shooting and killing one student and injuring three others. one soldier dead, seven injured after a special operations training exer r sies went wrok. this happened in north carolina's frt bragg.

training accident this week for the army. the soldier died late tuesday at ft. hood, texas. a statue honoring a confederate general is gone. the statue of robert e. lee was removed. it's being trucked off. the dallas city council voted to remove the statue earlier this month. the city is looking to change 16 street names, including lee parkway. we have an update to the future of that slave auction block in the middle of downtown fredericksburg, virginia. they want the community's input on what to do with it. the first is to add a physical buffer around the block with signs that explain the historical artifact. the second option is to replace it with a historic marker. the block would be moved to a museum if that happens. you can submit your preference online at the city's website before -- you know what, we'll check the date for you. we'll get back tu

date. at the live desk. following breaking news. a woman disappeared from takoma park, maryland. take a look. this is anna fogle. it's been ten days since she's been heard from. a little over 5 feet tall, brown eyes, black hair. she was last seen two weeks ago at washington adventist hospital. if you see her, detectives in takoma park would love to hear from you. eun? if you're a parent, you know it's not easy to get your kids out of bed and on the way to school. they might have stayed up late for homework, their practices. now there is growing research that says giving students, especially high schoolers more time to sleep is good for the economy. researchers say that high school students need nine to ten hours of sleep per night. most districts start their day before 8:30. if you do the math, they would have to be in bed before 10:00.

some researchers say that moving school start times later could mean billions for the economy, even though it comes at the cost for schools. one thing in the cost benefit analysis. changing school start times would cost the districts $150 per student, but it could contribute more than $80 billion to the economy within a decade. that's a lot of money. that's by improving academic performance and cutting back on crashes. montgomery county does start school later. they used to at 7:45. but after a lot of debate and fairfax county schools start at 8:10. that's depending on the school. if you can imagine how much more money we could make if you gave kids a little time to sleep. agreed. we've been waiting to hear from this woman. this morning, we're finally hearing from that nun in florida at the center of the viral video.

have been his motive. kathericatherine hoggle's 2-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter have not been seen since september 2014. hoggle had faced several charges but was found not competent to stand trial. justin finch will have more at 6:00 a.m. president trump signed a resolution condemning white supremacist groups and condemns the violence in charlottesville last month. this resolution urges him to use all available resources to take a stand against hate groups. in a statement, the president said americans oppose hatred, bigotry and racism in all forms. in a few hours, free tickets will be habded out for the star studded concert in charlottesville. dave math urks justin timberlake and pharrell will headline. the tickets will only be given to uva students and others around the neighboring communities in charlottesville. bargain hunters rejoice. look at all the items there.

>> megan mcgrath, thank you. just about ten before the hour. people near dunbar high school in d.c. are uneasy after two shootings in two days. the latest last night. gunfire was exchanged in the parking lot of an apartment complex. one person in critical condition. three people were shot nearby on m street on wednesday. police believe a former teacher in carroll county could have more victims. kenneth fischer is charged with trying to lure minors for sex over the internet. police believe there may be other victims in northern virginia and maryland. fischer has worked in schools as a an administrator since 2000. we've posted a list of places he's worked in the nbc washington app. search carroll county teacher. 5:50 right now. this weekend, you can take the family out for an awesome air show.
