just a touch of humidity so, of course, i was worried about my hair. i put so much hair spray is it to keep it -- it is a mess right now. but it is humid. for the first time it feels like all summer that it is humid. a taste of summer is coming to the area. we're already up to 73 degrees here in d.c. i have to tell ya, which is going to be more like an august-type day, considering our september so far has been cool. winds, nothing to worry about there. they're very light. and not really have to worry about rain. i do have a slight chance of a stray shower, but it would be short-lived, if anything. you can see up and down the east coast thanks to high pressure. we are looking good throughout the region. if you are headed to the nats game this afternoon, they take on the dodgers. first pitch coming up at 1:05. again, going to be perfect for that with plenty of sunshine. make sure you have the sunscreen available. low to mid 80s today. what about the tropics? we have a lot going on

you inside in ten minutes. i'll hang out here for a little bit. >> we won't fault you. we do have the big development after another terror attack. this morning, a man is in custody and police believe he had something to do with the homemade bomb on a london subway train. the bomb caused chaos on the tube yesterday. it didn't completely explode, and no one died. britain terror's threat level is as high as it can go now. the man they arrested is 18 years old. he is being sent back to london soon, after being caught in a port in england. also developing overnight, violent protests in st. louis. now we're looking at some of the new video coming in. we heard reports of people setting fires and throwing bricks. hundreds of protesters marched after a former police officer was acquitted of murdering a black man. dozens were

officers were hurt. a judge found jason stockly not guilty yesterday. peaceful protests started not long after that. stockly shot anthony lamar smith after a chase six years ago. smith died. 9:03, you may want to reconsider heading to the national mall today. >> we have a lot going on. it is going to be busy down there. multiple rallies are being held there, and we have news 4's megan fitzgerald, live with what you need to know about the rallies. even if you're not attending, it'll affect folks. >> reporter: yeah. we're talking thousands of people that are going to be down here at the mall, whether it is an event, a rally or a protest. it is going to be packed. if you're driving, this is what you'll see. you're going to see a lot of these roadblocks, dump trucks blocking streets, police cars. lots of police out here. want to show you a map of the road closures. if you are driving, keep this in mind, a lot of the roads leading to the national mall will be blocked off. the smithsonn

here and will also be closed. it'll be a big day. because a lot is happening. let's get to exactly what is going to be happening out here. kicking off around 10:00, so the next hour, there is an anti-trump rally, where protesters are speaking out against the russian interference in the 2016 election. then there is a protest called the mother of all rallies. it is a pro-trump march. the people they say support the president because he is the president. it is a patriotic rally. the only flag acceptable out here, they say, is the american flag. no confederate flag or anything like that. there's also another group that's called the juggalos. they're supportingband called the insane clown posse. in 2011, the fbi labeled them as a gang. we caught up with the director of homeland security for the district of columbia. here w

charles county when an suv hit him. bury died. this happened north of smallwood drive last night. police say the driver of the suv did, in fact, stay on scene. we just found out that that controversial rule to allow non-citizens to vote in college park, that that's not going to happen. the measure would allow undocs yu -- undocumented immigrants, visa holders to vote in local elections. it appeared to pass 4-3 earlier this week after hours of debate, but the city council says it takes a 3/4 vote to change the charter, not just a majority. moving along, it is a good feeling when you find some money you didn't know you had. >> like stuffed in your pockets. >> still in the couch. >> some crayons and stuff like that, too, yeah. imagine this, one couple realizing they had a couple hundred thousand bucks. can you imagine that? they won it in the virginia

the klingle valley trail's ribbon was cut back in june, but erosion caused by heavy rain is already eating away at the trail. d-dot is working with the contractor to make some repairs, and the mayor's office says those repairs will likely require closing the trail for, quote, as short of a window as possible. 9:10. they are calling this part of this bigger program called project lifesaver. louden county sheriff's deputies using drones in their work. >> i got to check this out. it is cool. it could be the best way to find someone who is missing before it is too late. time is of essence, as soon as somebody disappears. it has this one purpose, to find children and vulnerable adults who are likely to wander off. so the drone has this special antenna attached to it, and that is a transmitter that can be worn like a watch. put on your kids, for example. one couple signed up their autistic son after he

you may remember this story, it was very disturbing. weier was 12 years old when she and a friend stabbed a classmate in the woods. they say they did it to please an imaginary character named slender man. the classmate survived. at a trial yesterday, the jury said wiseiser was mentally ill. jerry sandusky's son is going to prison for sexually abusing children. jeffrey pleaded guilty to 14 charm charges yesterday. his father was the former penn state assistant football coach, and he is serving up to 60 years for molesting multiple boys over decades. the younger san ddusky could spd up to 16 years in prison. harry dean stanton was beloved in hollywood, a

died. his agent said he died of natural causes yesterday. he was in hundreds of television shows and movies, including "repo man" and "paris, texas." 9:15. something good is coming from this story of cheating and baseball. major league baseball forcing two teams to pay up, to pay fines, and all the money going to hurricane relief. you probably remember these guys. the boston red sox and the new york yankees, playing each other. well, the mlb says the red sox used an apple watch to steal signs from the yankees last month. it also found that in the past, the yankees misused their dugout phones. both teams are being forced to pay something but it is not clear exactly how much. indians giving a tip of the cap to the crowd. >> all right. let's stick with baseball for a moment. the streak is over, but they're thinking about how great it was. the cleveland indians finally lost a game last night

because it is wonderful out there. a touch on the humid side and going to be warm today. we can deal with it, as we go into the afternoon. i love that clap. you got it down pat. all right. we've got gorgeous weather our way. it is feeling humid, finally. we went all the way through summer and didn't really have the hot, humid, d.c. days. well, we'll have a warm, humid day out there. we're still talking about the tropics. still active in the tropics. current temperatures right now, already up to 73 degrees here in the d.c. area. out in the shenandoah valley with fog down into the 60s. we also have a little bit of fog, as i said. it's cleared up a bit and will continue to do so. hagerstown up in washington county, the visibility down to 5 miles. with this sunshine, we should burn off some of that fog. no rain out there. we're looking good all the way up and down the east coast. if you need to travel today, you're fine. high pressure in charge, kicking out the clouds, kicking out the rain. if you'rede

not going to need a jacket. temperatures are going to stay in the upper 60s in the d.c. area overnight. we are back into the low to mid 80s tomorrow with plenty of sunshine. tomorrow, a chance of a shower. also a chance of a shower today. it'll be warm, humihumid, but n too bad. hurricane jose, it'll run parallel to the east coast. i'll show you the track in a second. we also have tropical depression 14. not worried about that. that could head toward the lesser antilles, but i believe it is going to be downgraded to a remnant low. this is the system we're watching right now. this one is also headed to the lesser antilles. we're talking about the u.s. injure vin isla virgin islands, the british virgin islands. that is the one to watch here in our area. this is jose. winds are 80 miles per hour. category 1, winds of 75. ju

only thing we'll see out of that, maybe tuesday is some clouds, especially east of i-95, and a little bit of a breeze. that's about it. look at this 10-day forecast. plenty of sunshine. low to mid 80s for the next several days. tuesday, maybe a little more cloud cover. and a little breezy. it is looking good through next weekend. >> thank you. >> thank you. thank you, lauryn. 9:20 right now. only on news 4, we're getting a sneak peek at the future of the bike sharing process here in our region. a lot of people, they don't use it because they don't live near the bike stations. it comes down to convenience. >> if they're not near the rack, it is tough. starting next week, not a problem. mark segraves is working for you with a look at a new system that will let you pick up a bike pretty much anywhere. >> reporter: finding a bike share rack near your destination with an empty space to drop off can sometimes be frustrating,

particularly during rush hour. ♪ that's why many cities around the world have been move lg to dockless bike sharing. that's right. the new generation of bikes can be picked up and dropped off about anywhere. there are no bike stations. you ride right to your destination and walk away. >> you don't want to park your bike in front of driveways, in front of doors. you don't want to be inconveniencing the general public. >> reporter: the d.c. department of transportation has been exploring this new technology. starting next week, will allow several private bike share companies to launch dockless bike share all across d.c. it is parking lot of a seven-month pilot program. then d-dot will design regulations and a permitting process. companies like mo bike, spin and line bike are already set to hit the streets. you will need a smartphone and an app to use these smart bikes. >> we're going to be in all parts of the city. we would expect to serve neighborhoods, wn

yourselves, how do they keep these from being stolen if they're not locked up to anything like a dock? technology has an answer for that. when you park the bike, you latch the back tire and walk away. if someone tries to carry the bike away, the alarm goes off. >> i'll call the police. >> reporter: each bike has a gps built in, so if they're stolen, police know where to find them. dockless bike sharing has been big in asia and europe for some time but has only reached the united states this year and only in a few cities. in other cities that already have dockless bike sharing, they haven't had a big problem with bike thefts. you might also want to know, how do they power the gps, the voice and the head lights? each of the bikes has a solar panel right in the basket. you're going to start seeing dockless bike sharing offered by several companies across the district beginning next week. in northeast, mark segraves,

let's set you up with four things to know. a man is in custody in connection to the terror attack out of london. police caught the 18-year-old in a costal town overnight. they believe he had a significant part in yesterday's subway attack, angie. a 15-year-old was killed by police in haymarket, virginia. prince william county police saying they were responding to reports that he was holding a family member hostage. he was shot after they say he threatened officers with a crowbar. dozens of people arrested in st. louis during violent protests overnight. they took to the streets after an ex-police officer was acquitted of the death of a black man. the officer shot the man following a police chase that happened six years ago. three major rallies as megan fitzgerald has been reporting, planned near the national mall today. the smithsonian metro station will be closed as well as roads. we have everything to know about the closures in our nbc events in the app. also, we're live on facebook. megan fitzgerald s t
