unfortunate of 92 miles per hour. this storm is almost as strong as urma, and two weeks ago irma was right here. here's the latest strak and the latest advisory which just came out 175 miles an hour winds now making its way to the northwest at about 9, 10 miles per hour, where does that put this storm over the next 12 hours or so? there it is, 175 miles an hour, north, northwest, puts it directly in towards puerto rico, most likely as a direct hit here for the south east portions of that island as 165 mile-per-hour category 5. winds could gust as much as 185 miles per hour with this storm as it moves in. devastation for sure. we'll be talking about this for days and weeks like we have the other islands. then we have jose which is a tropical storm. this

forget us. just don't forget us. >> president trump already approved a emergency declaration. members of the coast guard are on hand in puerto rico to help with search and rescue missions after the storm. >> we're here at the live desk where we have dramatic new video of the panic and devastation from the mexico earthquake that's killed nearly 150 people. you can just imagine the panned mowniam here. some racing out of the office buildings as fast as they could, this 7.1 magnitude quake bringing the region to its knees. it hit less than 100 miles from mexico city which is the most populated metro area in the entire western hemisphere.

just look at these scenes, buildings literally breaking apart, and those that didn't collapse, swaying dangerously across the sky line. a unknown number of people trapped or missing. in the eariest of coincidences 32 years ago today a quake in mexico city killed up to 10,000 people. workplaces held emergency drills to mark that tragedy today, and then two hours later, they got the real thing. the area also still recovering from a quake earlier this month that killed 100 people. this time around the outcome could possibly be a lot worse. we have to watch and see how things play out. >> shocking video. you saw it here on news 4, e

wreckage of a mexico city school of any children that might be trapped there. relatives said they received messages from two girls inside. the mexican government employed thousands of soldiers to assist in rescue and recovery. citizens are playing a huge role in rescuing those in need. a harrowing crash in a local neighborhood that frustrated homeowners, demanding to slow drivers down. now after more than a year of waiting, neighbors tell us the county's fix is not working. >> investigative reporter shows us what they say should have been done all along. >> reporter: even before the county installed that speed bump said drivers would speed back up. that's what's happening.

drivers down. county leaders will meet with neighbors at the veterans park community center to discuss it tomorrow night. >> doug is back with more about our weather. want to start with jose, maria or something else? >> start with maria, this is going to be a devastating storm. this may be the worst natural disaster ever for puerto rico. that's the kind of system, a category 5 hurricane. it was just two weeks ago where we had a category 5 moving to the north of puerto rico. we were worried about the island but it moved far enough north you the but this one they may get the eye through puerto rico and san juan will be close to the eye of that storm which right now has kinds winds of 175 miles an hour. you can see where it is. it's made its way through dom ninga a

it continues to strengthen this evening and then on toward puerto rico and parts of the u.s. virginia island. you can see the eye wall clearly defined. two of them. winds of 100 miles an hour already recorded in saint kroit, and this is the inner eye wall with winds of 175. but gusts could be as much as 200. and you have to remember there are a lot of mountains here in puerto rico. they could see winds over 180 to 200 miles per hour. this is going to be devastating for them. you can see how far away it is right here making its way toward puerto rico in about seven hours, 15 minutes or so, right around 6:00, 6:30 tomorrow morning they'll be waking up to this storm. 175 miles an hour winds moving to the west north west at 10 miles an hour, pressure down to 909 mill bars, one of the ng

165 miles an hour. that's the expected forecast, 8:00 a.m., look how close san juan is to the track of uncertainty. notice where it goes by saturday, 120 miles an hour category 3 hurricane making its way up the east coast but far enough off, it is not going to be a impact for florida or most of the south east. for us, it still could be. this go something we'll be watching, extremely close as it moves up to the north though it will be weakening. how about land fall tomorrow morning, winds 150 miles per hour flus. it could be one of the biggest issues, massive flooding, extremely high mud slides -- not just flooding, flash flooding and up to 2 feet of rain. now jose. it's been a s

our coast line providing heavy surf as well as coastal flood warnings. it's a tropical storm but it's not moving a whole lot. as a matter of fact it will be here in about a week and that may actually help maria, it may bring this storm back into the coast. winds 70 miles an hour, moving north 9 miles an hour. you can see it on the forecast, next tuesday, wednesday, tracking jose and maria. we'll be watching this for the next week from the storm center. right now focus on our weather. we were nice weather today and tomorrow, it will feel much more like summer. we got the hottest two days of the month the last two days of summer. coming up the nats with a night fo the history boorks
