the last time i spoke to my mother was monday night. nobody has been able to get any communication to or from the island. we're all sort of hoping we can hear something in the next few days at the very least. >> hoping that they hear word soon. at least seven people have died on that island. emergency crews are having trouble getting relief supplies to people because the airport and seaports are closed due to heavy damage. staying on top of the breaking news out of mexico city where rescuers are frantically searching for survivors. we're also getting new images of those intense rescue efforts. >> chris lawrence is at the live desk. what are you seeing? >> the images are unreal. they're trying to free a little girl trapped underneath the debris of her own school. ta

montgomery county. they were abducted in 1975. the massage envy employee accused of violating customers will be in court. one accuser came forward after hearing the first report. he touched her inappropriately last month at the massage envy business. she informed the owner about the business on september 5th. a different woman says the same suspect abused her 12 days later. massage envy fired the suspect after his arrest. today we should find out kbha the new name of jeb stuart high school will be. the superintendent will post the recommendation for the name online today. this comes after the community voted over the weekend. the leading choices include stuart or stuart raiders and some variation of thur good marshall. they will present it to the school board next week. this might not surprise you. we live in one of the worst

amount of tame it takes to get to work. >> it takes d.c. and maryland drivers about 30 minutes every day. virginia is tied at eighth place nationally. 28.5 minutes. the area with the best commute in the commonwealth were arlington, fairfax county and alexandria. the worst is stafford county. of course, this all depends where you're working, where you're coming from. what tiechlt day you leave. all the commute times in virginia were worse than the state average. no surprise there either. a lot of people coming into the city. the traffic on 395, 66 is banana town. it's crazy. >> carpooling and mass transit. it doesn't seem to matter. >> downtown washington. >> the congestion, the people who can't drive, come on now, be honest. >> all the traffic circles. got to make a left turn from the right lane. >> don't get me started on the

if you had any contact with pigs at the charles county fair and feel sick, you may want to call your doctor. the maryland department of health says seven people tested possible for a strain of flu. this happened after coming in contact with the pigs at the fair. none of them has been taken to the hospital or developed a serious illness. but symptoms to look out for are the same as the seasonal flu, sore throat, fever and cough. you've been to a coffee shop, restaurant in d.c., someone with a pet. sometimes they're ouftd gate, sometimes inside. in d.c., that's illegal.

the hackers may have used it for illegal trading. the system we're talking about is big. processes 1 to 2 million electronic filings in a given year. the s.e.c. chairman says the breach did not expose any personally identifiable information. aaron? chris, thank you. 15 before the hour now. equifax may have exposed customers to identity theft again. yesterday on twitter, the company linked a -- posted a link to a fake equifax security site. they created it to point out the weak online security. he never imagined they'd tweet it. 200,000 people visited the site before it was taken down. the creator says no personal information was saved there. hackers did steal 143 million people's personal information from equifax servers earlier this month. today north korea will be at the top of the agenda for president trump. he's expected to meet with the president of

korea in new york city. this is part of the event surrounding the united nations general assembly. while the president has been in new york city this week here in washington, republicans have been working on a new health care plan. the senate is hoping to take another crack at repealing the affordable care act next week. tracie potts is on capitol hill with more. where do things stand on this bill? >> still up in the air. they don't know if they'll have the votes. the top republican on the senate side here. here's where we stand. dozens of times they tried to repeal the affordable care act unsuccessfully so far. the rules are now changing. after next week, it becomes harder. instead of a simple majority, 50 plus one to get this done. they have to get some democrats on board after next week, which is very unlikely to happen. so the big push is next week. the bilk referred to by the names of the sponsors, would repeal major parts of th

obamacare. it would scale back significantly funding for medicaid and that is what a lot of states or several states, including some republican states are objecting to the we'll see what happens with that next week. we don't know. but they're racing to get the votes to get this done. after next saturday, the process becomes a lot harder if not impossible. >> tracie potts live on capitol hill for us. thank you. two african-american workers have filed a discrimination suit against the trump international hotel here in washington. according to the "washington post," the workers say black employees at the blt prime steakhouse in the hotel are routinely denied more lucrative shifts and subjected to discriminatory behavior. the hotel called the allegations baseless. they said the men worked for a third-party company. that company also disputes the allegations. a news 4 identification says

they initially filed brian hawkins in july. but the agency was forced to rehire him while hawkins appealed. he was in charge of the va when the i-team revealed serious problems, like supply shortages, unclean conditions and surgical rooms in disrepair. the va let hawkins go yesterday indicating the appeals are over. va secretary david shul kins said it is the right move for veterans. today, your generosity will help a family get through a terrible time. their daughter died last month from sids, she was only four weeks old. she lived in a motel that houses some of d.c.'s homeless families and her family couldn't afford a funeral or burial. there was a go fund me page set up that we told you about in the nbc washington app. >> we want to thank you for that help. that funeral will happen today. such a sad story.

>> it's good the community could surround this family and help out. if you're planning to go to the redskins game on sunday, start finding a new way home. a new metro policy requires event organizers to put down $100,000 per hour to keep trains running late. so far the 'skins have not paid up. metro has not made back what it makes during those hours. the agency says not as many fans use the rails to get to and from redskins games. >> the ballpark takes you right there. where the redskins from fedex field, you have to get on the metro and take the shuttle. it's not as convenient. >> people do it. they'll get home. >> i've tried this. it's a big process. good luck. >> if you watch the redskins games sunday night on tv, no problem. you get all the bells and whistles on the tv.
