some players stood and locked arms while others decided to kneel on the other side of the field the entire offensive line of the oakland raiders sat down during the national anthem. this is the only o of line in the entire nfl made up entirely of african-american players. >> in response to president trump's remarks on friday, we saw an increased number of protests allover football yesterday. more than 100 players took a knee during the anthem on sunday. three teams decided to sit the anthem out altogether. >> president trump was watching football yesterday and tweeted about it. he said sports fans should never condone players that don't stand for the national anthem and stated that the nfl should change its policy. strong words saying they should be fired or suspended. >> the response from the players, nfl, a lot of fans was get out of here. >> this is our first amendment. they were saying it's protected by the constitution and their right to peacefully protest. there are two sides to this

community. but we don't know much else about the homicide yet. we're working to gather more details. we'll bring them as we get it. now. back to you. >> thank you. new video this morning. police say this man opened fire at what should be one of the safest places in a community. this happened in nashville yesterday morning. one person was killed and six others were injured. police say the 25-year-old's first victim was a woman walking to her car r from the chapel church of christ. he then allegedly walked through the main sanctuary door at the rear of the church he once attended and began indiscriminately shooting. an usher was able to stop samp san after he accidently shot himself. today there are going to be a lot of unhappy people when work begins on construction for the purple line. that's because the popular trail has been shut down and work to clear it will begin today.

one of those men died. we don't know the names of the victims or whether police have any leads. we'll let you know. this morning a toddler's parents are planning his funeral. a 3-year-old boy was hit by a car this past weekend. he died. police say the child was hit and killed on executive avenue outside an apartment building. there's a gas station nearby on the road. they didn't release the names of anyone involved yet. a major road project could improve your commute in stafford county and you can tell those in charge what you think. the plan is to extend the 95 express lanes about ten miles. the goal is to reduce congestion on that route. tonight there will be a hearing at the stafford high school to tube the plans and it's happening from 6:00 to 8:00. it's 4:48. a huge turnout is expected tonight as the city of alexandria tries to pick

a month. >> chilly and rainy. so this warm weather is going to stick around for the next couple days or really also waiting to see what hurricane maria decides to do. spinning her wheels off the atlantic coastline. this storm is going to have some impact on our weather. the main impact tomorrow will be the increase in some cloud cover. not expecting much of a rain chance tomorrow because we're too far away from the center of the storm for that. but it's going to be close enough to the east coast of the u.s. where we'll have to keep an eye on it. that's where the storm is now. 300 miles southeast of north carolina. and with time it comes up along the east coast and then some time late wednesday and early thursday makes a hard right turn and goes out to sea. that's an important curve nonetheless. we'll have to wait and see. the storm is going slowly.
