in washington. >> yeah. the pictures are just after midnight on 15th and euclid street. paramedics had to rush one firefighter to the hospital and it took 100 more to put out the flame. the d.c. fire didn't tweeted out this video. you can see heavy fire pouring out of the roof. it took two hours to knock it down and investigators are still trying to figure out how it started. >> it's hard to believe as we turn to the weather. it's warm, cloudy, and hurricane maria is becoming stronger again. >> yeah, sheena par veen is joining us. >> believe it or not, our normal high of the year is almost 10 degrees below where we are now. it is 83 degrees in washington. we have plenty of sunshine, but we also have some cloud cover across the area. today's high is going to be close to 90 degrees.

police officers is headed to puerto rico. this mission is personal for some of the officers. most have worked in puerto rico or have family there. one officer said it took a week after it hit for him to hear his son's voice. >> i was able to reach out to him and he can call me. but like him, there's 3 million people in puerto rico and natural citizens who need our help that they're getting a special escort. can you imagine waiting a week to hear from your family. >> so many people down there are hearing the same thing. >> they're going down via the national gaurd whose pilots are going to fly them down. are they on their way already now? >> reporter: yeah, chris. that's right. they're on their way. the flight took off about a half hour ago f

the d.c. police as well as a handful of national guard, many with personal ties to puerto rico. now, getting them there was the 113th wing national air guard and the airlift squadron. we saw those officers board that c-40 aircraft that will be landing at the airport in san juan. they'll be there for about three days to back up local law enforcement and hand out much needed airs. they say they have been planning very hard for this special trip. >> we're wrapping and packing all the waters and supplies for our family members in puerto rico, so we're directly will deliver these today. we were spending time yesterday -

things for our families such as food, soup, canned foods, things of that nature. >> what do they need the most? >> water and canned foods because there's little gas to cook. main essential things like water and food. >> and as you heard, there's a great need for water and food. there's thousands of pounds of aid on c-40 and they expect it to go very fast. they're set to be back here by 6:30 or so this evening. we're live at the base, justin finch. back to you in the studio. we're also following a developing story in prince george's county. they're looking for clues as to why someone shot a man.

is literally a couple hundred feet from panorama school. this morning the 19-year-old is not giving up hope. take a look at the surveillance video here. that is billy's car arriving for work at the joint base. after going through the gate she vanished. she never showed up to work. hours after that they found her phone in dumpster and her car five days later down a road. her mother says her gut instinct says she's okay. >> she's scared and hurt but she's okay. she's still with us. i feel that. >> billy was living in norfolk while attending school. th
