mansion. >> he really was connected to the brand. he was the face of playboy after all those years. >> yes, absolutely. we're following a developing story this morning. people will be a little on edge when they return to work at a fairfax county office building. it was a crime scene a few hours ago after a man shot himself to death there. fairfax county police say the gunman is 52-year-old john francis wood. the shooting happened at a law office on the fourth floor of that building in the merryfield section of that county. police are still trying to figure out what happened. they don't know whether he intended to shoot anyone else there. police received multiple calls about a man firing a pistol and responded as if there were an active shooter. >> what made it scarier, the preschool sits inside the office building where the shooting happened. students were bused to a nearby middle school after the shooting. we were there as parents were very relieved and picked up their little one

against children at an elementary school. he was indicted on 270 counts. care owe way received a 75-year federal sentence last month. the hearing today is about the local charges against him. follow our prince george's bureau chief on twitter for the latest from the courtroom. this morning, a woman is suing massage envy after she says her therapist went too far. this fallout comes from the string of alleged sexual assaults at massage envy locations in maryland and the district. news 4 broke the story last week. four women say they were assaulted by the same massage therapist. the lawsuit named massage envy, the owners of the franchise on wisconsin avenue in northwest and the massage therapist facing charges. the woman is suing for $25 million in damages. 4:32 right now. people waking up in a brand new fairfax county high-rise h

this morning, you won't be able to use a new trail. the trail off connecticut avenue and cleveland park, it's going to close at 7:00 a.m. for repairs. it's repairing asphalt damaged by recent storms. earlier this month we told you erosion was causing the pavement to crumble there. after our report, v dot began reminding community groups that it would be fixed. the trail just opened in june. okay. so you think you have to swat away a few mosquitoes and that's pretty bad. the one this is d.c. are bad. look at what people in western florida are dealing with. what's that? the mosquito control posted these pictures to facebook saying there's been a huge uptick in the pests since hurricane irma hit the state. my goodness, trappers say one of their nets trapped 26,000 mosquitoes in less than 24 hours. that's disgusting. >> i feel bad for t

being stopped by a public safety officer. campus police believe the man hung ten confederate flag posters and strings of cotton in several locations. this is not the first incident of hate at a.u. this year. wee we've posted a timeline on the nbc washington app skbliefrnlts the debate over controversial statues in our area continues today. d.c. congresswoman eleanor holmes norton is meeting with the freemasons about the albert pike statue in judiciary square. they say the confederate general was a racist and want to take the statue down. opponents of the statue even went as far as to throw red paint on it during a protest last month. pike was a freemason but norton says the group is still supporting the statue's removal. well, years later, we are getting answers about some of the biggest mysteries in news 4 history. >> this is at least the second time -- [ laughter ]
