>> welcome into news 4 today on this saturday. the final day of september. we start october tomorrow. >> yes. i'm angie goff alongside david culver here. starting october. it's finally starting to feel like it should feel, right? >> sure is. we do want to catch you up on some news coming into our newsroom at this hour. we've learned a maryland state trooper is resting at home after being struck in queen ann's county. >> he was making an arrest when he was hit on route 404 last night. he's been released from umd shock trauma and is back at home. we're happy to hear that update. time now, 7:00, as we check in with lauryn ricketts, who is tracking a much cooler forecast for this weekend. what you thinking, lauryn? >> it is going to be chilly out there. chilly right now. temperatures are anywhere from the '50s and into the low 60s. we're going to take it to around 70 degrees for day time highs today. another beautiful day.

charlotte, north carolina, approximately six hours from fornoefo norfolk. neighbors say the area has, in the past, drawn criminal act hit. >> this has been a problem area for a long time. very long time. >> we went a little bit where you didn't hear the pow pow pow. it's picked up again. >> reporter: ashanti billie has been missing since monday, september 18th. the fbi is involved in the search for the 19-year-old, a graduate in upper marboro. her license plate was seenfound abandoned. fully charged cell phone in a dumpst dumpst dumpster. >> we have more details on this disturbing case in the nbc washington app. this is a disturbing story out of fairfax county. six women sexually assaulted in

just happened over the course of two weeks. this morning, police have a suspect in jail. they're trying to see if jeremiah whitmore talley is linked to the attacks. a woman was groped along the trail in broad daylight. if you plan to head out and enjoy the trails, be sure to stay alert. maybe bring a friend or buddy along with you. a massive search continues this morning for some men who used a stolen u-haul truck to steal an atm from nats park. you're looking at surveillance video we got of one of two persons of interest. the suspects rammed into the atm outside of the stadium's box office, tore it apart but they did not get away with anything. the machine or any cash. the men ended up jumping into a tan pickup truck and they took off. if you know anything about this, please call police. she's been arrested again. we're talking about this woman

opal brown. metro transit police arrested brown on friday for the second time after she failed to show up to court this week to face charges stemming from this bizarre video and incident. it was recorded on august 26th. that's when brown says she used the bathroom in a cup, then tossed it on to a metro bus driver because she didn't like the way the driver said, "have a nice day." taking a look at some of the chaos that broke out near new york's penn station during the height of rush hour. a van jumped the curb and hit three people crossing the street yesterday. police say this was a freak action and that the driver's gas pedal got stuck on a floor mat. the people hit went to the hospit hospital, but they had minor injuries. it is heart breaking to know what's going on in puerto rico. residents there are waking up to yet another day of dwindling food, a scarce water supply and no fuel after hurricane maria pounded the

this mother of four has memories of europe to think about while she sits in jail. police in iowa say this mom, erin mack, left her four children home alone while she went on vacation. she left on september 20th. she didn't have plans to return until tomorrow. it wasn't until the father of the two kids -- of two of the kids heard they might be home alone and called police. the children range in ages from 6 to 12. police say that mack also left a gun unsecured that the children has access to. >> about an 11-day trip then. long time. >> scary stuff. as we get deeper into the fall, temperatures, you're feeling fall. sorry. d distracted by the beautiful light there. how long is it going to go into the weekend? how long will it fuel the weather? lauryn ricketts breaking it down for us. this is at least the second time -- [ laughter ]

we're getting into the weather. actually, don't say good-bye to the 80s yet. temperatures are going to gradually go up. today, they're going to be down from where they were yesterday. yesterday we made it to 75. today, 70 degrees. we have another great day in store. gorgeous out there. now may need your jacket, especially this morning. i had a little fleece on when i went outside to do my little weather out there earlier. little to no rain, unfortunately, in the forecast for us. temperature trend, as i said, will start to move back up. average temperature is 74. we'll be below that today and tomorrow. into monday and tuesday, it'll come back to the mid 70s. chilly start this morning. 60 in washington right now. we'll barely make it into the lower to mid 60s before the noon hour. we'll be dealing with cool weather throughout the morning. 70 is where we'll top out. it'll be dry today and tonight.
