baby away from us, away from everyone who loved her, you're a coward. >> reporter: the parents appear the media hours after leng their daughter had been murdered. they wanted to thank everyone for their prayers and expressed gratitude to those who helped in the search. billie has been missing for nearly two weeks. she was last seen at a naval base in norfolk where she worked. her car was found several miles away, her cell phone was found in a dumpster a few miles from base. the break in the case came friday morning. a landscaper found her remains hundreds of miles from norfolk. for billie's parents, their worst fears came true. they were the remains of her 19-year-old daughter. she was a culinary student from prince george's county. >> she's home, she's home with god, and we're okay with that. >> reporter: her father spoke about the national anthem controversy. he added

president trump starting his day with a twitter rant, accusing the mayor of san juan as a poor leader and saying the people of puerto rico want everything to be done for them. this tweet sparking immediate backlash on social media. the president reacting to the mayor's criticism of the federal hurricane relief effort. cruz responded on twitter, not mentioning the president by name but saying the country cannot be distracted as they focus on saving lives. >> i really have no time for anything that is not conducive and productive in terms of saving lives. >> it's not clear if cruz and president trump will meet when he visits puerto rico on tuesday. the backlash against president trump's comments are still coming in. we want to show you a few of the tweets that have been so popular on social media

history. monty hall died today at the age of 96. his wife says he died of heart failure. the show premiered in 1963, on nbc, before switching to two other networks. the show became legendary for its audience members dressing up in outlandish costumes, in order to attract hall's attention in hopes of being given the opportunity to win big. we reached out tonight to investigators to learn more details about an infant death investigation. so far, detectives are not saying much. the metropolitan police say they were called to the shaw neighborhood on 7th street northwest today. it's unclear how the baby died or if anybody has been arrested, or even charged in this investigation. metropolitan police want to know who shot two people in their car, who then drove on to the bw parkway and called for help. it happened at the intersection of new york

let's hear it for the pilot. they landed an airfrance jet in eastern canada after the plane lost one of its four engines. the flight was heading from paris to los angeles before making this emergency landing. a picture from a passenger window shows this busted out engine. look at that. according to the bbc, a former aircraft mechanic on the flight said the engine may be the result of a fan failure. passengers say the plane dropped for about 20 seconds before it was able to stabilize. another plane was used to fly them to los angeles later.

marched in two separate protests, both with one message, people of all colors linking hands to stand for justice. organizers of the march for black women say they're seeing a rise in the disregard for black women. the march was organized after the acquittal of a police officer in a high profile shooting of a black man. justice, the common theme of both rallies. >> this is not just about black women being seen. this is about having our allies and our partners with us as we are seen. >> the most vulnerable in our country, in our world, are taken care of. we'll never see the peace and justice that we aspire to. >> the two marches eventually became one and people walked together from the justice department to the national mall. a 14-year-old boy with autism from prince george's county accomplished something today that only 4%

the new cast members in our nbc washington app. definitely a movie night or night to sit around to watch "snl." temperatures are dropping. we're at 50 degrees right now in the district. if you look a little farther west, already in the 40s. 49 in mart tinsburg. 45 in warrenton. it is a very cool night ahead. the winds are beginning to calm in some areas. you can see calm in culpepper. we were at about 18 miles per hour in the district a few hours ago. right now we're at 14 miles per hour. so that's good news. as we head throughout the evening, throughout the night into tomorrow morning, take a look at some of the predicted highs. again, this is model based. but it is pretty close in the ballpark. 47 degrees is the predicted low overnight for the district. you can see some areas up to northern maryland have the potential of reaching the low 40s. just a v
