>> don't leave just yet. lauren thanks. breaking news at 10:03 on this sunday. this is coming to us out of college park near the entrance to the university of maryland. part of route 1 is shutdown after a deadly crash. >> derek ward is live with a look at how this woman was killed. hi derek. >> good morning, again. well, again, route 1 remains closed northbound here between campus drive and lakeland. that is because of the investigation that you see behind me. now take a look at video from earlier. this happened earlier this morning. a northbound vehicle struck a pedestrian as that person was crossing route one. the investigation continues and that's why you're going to find this traffic diversion here at campus drive. joining me now is the prince george's county police department so there's a lot of things to look at now in this investigation. what can you tell us about it now? >> when the crash happened at about 6:20 this morning our collision

how the crash took place which unfortunately lead to a woman being killed here this morning in college park. >> what do we know about the victim yet? you trying to identify this person? >> sure, we still trying to make proper notifications. she was an adult and we're looking into why she was here in the college park area. >> this happened at 6:20 in the morning so that would have been before we got, i guess, sunlight, correct? >> yeah, at 6:20 this morning still would have been dark before sunrise this morning so, you know, that is certainly a factor that we're looking into exactly how that played a role. >> thank you so much for joining us. so again you're going to find route 1 closed here between campus and lakeland until this investigation is wrapped up. we're live in college park, derrick ward, news 4. >> thank you. 10:04. developing news that left one police officer and four pedestrians hurt. police

they were arrested for acts of terrorism. he tried to drive the u-haul into people as he was being chased. that chaos happened hours after police say the suspect drove a car into a police officer and then stabbed him. four others were also hit by the car outside of the canadian football league game. >> suddenly and without notice and at a high rate of speed a male driving a white chevrolet malibu crashed into traffic barricades separating vehicles from possessdy trijuans. it sent the police officer flying into the air 15 feet. >> we also have some breaking news that we're getting now of another attack. this one in france. two people are dead after a knife attack at marseille's main train station. authorities

time is 10:05 and another story developing here domestically is the release of o.j. simpson. >> it's a busy morning. this is something you'll see filling your social media news feeds. o. o.j. simpson a freeman this morning. a video showing simpson walking out of prison free on parole. not clear where he went from there but simpson must follow strict rules including no illegal drugs and no association with convicted felons. serving nine years after he was convicted of the armed robbery of two sport memorabilia dealers. >> a killer on the loose and the parents of a young woman, a young woman that had so much ahead of her, they are grieving. >> the body found in charlotte is that of ashanti billie. we all hoped for a different outcome to this. she was last seen at a naval base nearly two weeks ago.

just after hearing the devastating confirmation. >> that person or persons that decided they wanted to take our baby, you're a coward. >> the parents of billie appear before the media just hours after learning their daughter had been murdered. they wanted to thank everyone for their prayers and express gratitude to those that helped in the search. her car was found several miles away. her cell phone was found in a dumpster a few miles from base. then a break in the case came friday morning. a landscaper found remains behind a church in charlotte, hundreds of miles from norfolk. their worst fears came true. an autopsy confirmed those were the remains of their 19-year-old daughter. she was a culinary student from prince george's county. >> she is home.

we told you about this yesterday. today is officially the day. new laws in effect in maryland that will save you money and possibly protect your kids. the biggest change has to do with prescription drugs. maryland could become the first state in the country to take action against drug manufacturers that price gouge. a new law prohibits it for off patent or generic drugs. also instituting protections for your kids in school. it's the whistleblower protection act and make sure that they all feel safe reporting on unlawful activities. look at the nbc washington app and search new laws. >> at 10:17 president trump is set to visit puerto rico on tuesday to get a firsthand look at the damage done because of hurricane maria. >> the thing is that visit comes as he has lashed out at the mayor of san juan and other local officials that criticized the federal response. joining us now to talk this and much more, meet the press moderator chuck todd.

we will continue to warm up but again you may need those long sleeves or just a jacket through the morning and then again through the early part of the evening. if you're out watching football you'll want to have that jacket with you. sun going down at 6:50 tonight and then just chilly. church services, definitely sweater weather. yard work get it done today. won't be quite as breezy so might be a good day to do it. yes on that one because there's no rain in sight. today last regular season home game for the nats against the pirates. starts at 3:00. you're good for the beginning of the game but at the end you want to go ahead and grab that jacket but nothing showing up on the storm team four radar now. it's a good-looking day. temperatures are going to rise so if you're missing the warm temperatures don't worry by the end of this week we'll have some temperatures in the 80s. 70 degrees will be our daytime high today. very similar to yesterday but without that wind and without that midday cloud cover. tomorrow 74 degrees so a touch warmer and that humidity is
