and we'll go on to the world seri series. >> you have the type of weather they're used to playing in, which is always good. what always makes me nervous about the games when they start up, if we have a cold snap or something, you're like oh, no, they haven't played in this weather yet. their muscles will cramp or something. not today. it's warm weather. i don't know if you noticed, the more humid air in place, the higher chance of a home run because the air is more buoyant and the ball travels farther. it's going to be more humid today and tonight. you'll be noticing that along with the warm air. here's a look at satellite. maybe a few sprinkles over petersburg towards winchester. this is not a big deal. we don't expect rain in the forecast today. look at these temperatures, though. around 60 for much of the area. 67 right now in washington. as you head out for your commute, roads staying dry. warm through the afternoon.

finally frida to jack taylor and wtop. good morning, jack. >> once again, thank you for the dry roads. thank you, thank you. fox hall at reservoir, unfortunately, northwest it remains closed. fire department activity continues. with hoses across the roadway, there will be no vehicular traffic. on 50, in bowie, westbound after 3 and 301, the paving project wrapping up. two left lanes have been getting by the project. mt. airy, crews may wrap up by 6:00. 70 westbound leaving 27 towards new market, the right lane had been getting by. we keep an eye on these guys especially with it being friday. potentially moving around. hopefully cleared quickly. back to you. thank you, jack. breaking news now. the scene of an overnight house fire could affect your morning commute. >> news 4's megan mcgrath live at the scene. what can you tell us, megan? >> reporter: guys, this is the 1600 block of fox hall road. the fire was in the house right hi

if you're familiar with the area, it's right across the street from the jetty's sandwich shop. a nail salon and dry cleaner here as well. however, the problem at this point is not the fire. it is this. take a look. we have hose lines all across the street. they're crisscrossing all around fox hall road up to reservoir. can't get these up quick enough considering the rush hour is around the corner. it will take time for them to drain them and get them out of here. the end result is fox hall road is closed in both directions in the area of reservoir road 1600 block. folks will want to plan accordingly a cut through to get downtown. i'm told that it will be about an hour, perhaps an hour and a half before they're able to get the hoses and then some of these fire trucks out of here. the fire itself happening overnight a little after 3:00 in the morning. a dental office in the basement. they believe it started in the basement and then spread to the first and second floors. everybody gotou

the problem now is really the traffic impact and certainly for the homeowner, a tremendous amount of damage. but no injuries in this. if you normally take fox hall in the morning, you want to plan accordingly. this is going to be with us for a while longer, certainly through the beginning of rush hour this morning. you can see when the photographer -- they're still spraying water inside the house. you can see how long it's going to be. megan mcgrath live for us. 5:04 is the time now. we turn to the las vegas massacre. this morning we have a complete list of the 58 people killed in the worst mass shooting in this country's history. they were mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, grandparents, grandchildren. the youngest 20 years old, the oldest 67. >> they were at the route 91 harvest festival to celebrate, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and this shared love of music and one of the victims of sunday's shooting had ties to our area. denise burditus from west virginia died in her husband's arms sunday

>> amazi grace ♪ how sweet the sound ♪ >> last night we saw denise burditus' hedgesville community come together and honor her life and memory. they gathered there at the high school football stadium for this candlelight vigil. burditus' mother-in-law remembers her as a strong military wife who never complained and her friends from high school, they were there and said she always kept in touch no matter how much time had passed. we turn now to the five days after the shooting. investigators still don't know why stephen paddock went on that rampage. but they're looking into the possibility that he may have had mental health issues. his girlfriend, marilou danley says he would lie in bed moaning and screaming oh, my god. investigators, though, don't believe his mental health deteriorated so much to make him carry out this attack. investigats

>> seconds after those first shots rang out, people were running for their lives trying to find a safe spot. >> las vegas fire truck just happened to be driving by the concert site when that attack started. firefighters jumped into action, of course. we've told you the shooting went on for ten straight minutes. all that time first responders dodged bullets to try to help people who had been injured. you think about the fact that there were 22,000 people in that crowd. many of them were police officers, firefighters -- off-duty. >> yeah. >> while the majority of people were running, a lot of the first responders, instinct kicks in and they try to direct people to places where they can find cover or help people who were hit. >> you landed in las vegas shortly after all of this happened. took a flight out there right away to cover this. what strikes you most about your experience out there? >> it was

estrip. i had been there vacationing before. there's hustle and bustle. but there's this long area, no foot traffic but eerily quiet. things are slowly getting back to normal by the time we left yesterday. you can learn more about the victims who died, including one woman who was about to be proposed to when the shooting started. that's in the nbc washington app. the safety of your parents and grand parents is something many of you care about. some of you may have been talking online since a caretaker received a one-year prison sentence for abusing a 95-year-old woman. that was caught on camera. we should warn you, it is tough to watch. you can only see roxann bucchan-straker's hand. she tells the woman to eat and moments later hits the 95-year-old over the head. prosecutors say the object she used was a cell phone. this happened last december in

silver spring. bucchan-straker pleaded guilty to abuse of a vulnerable adult and sentence today prison yesterday. this morning, three siblings waking up without their mother. she is in jail facing felony charges. fairfax county police say she left them in her hot car while she went into work yesterday in falls church. you can see the hole that one of the kids poked in a window covering just to get some air. that hole is what got the attention of the guy who called police. this is the mom. alexa falk son. her boss spoke with news 4 and said she's a young mom who was trying her best. >> just moved her. or at least just started. her baby-sitting fell through and i think she probably thought she could keep them in the car while she went back and forth. >> the kids were 5, 6 and 7 years of age. they're now staying with their stepfather. president trump is weighing in on the virginia governor's race with a tweet. the president made the

ralph northam is fighting for the gang ms-13 and sanctuary cities. he encouraged voters to choose gop candidate ed gillespie. he's been running political ads accusing northam of supporting sanctuary cities. northam repeatedlied out -- he responded to the tweets saying looks like ed gillespie's ads must have reached his target audience, donald trump. when a way to start the season. capitals star alex ovechkin scored more than half the team's goals in the first game. >> score! he scores! >> he made a statement with that hat trick, folks. this is ovi's 13th year with the caps. he's no old man. they beat the senators in a shootout last night. next up, the capitals home opener against montreal set for this saturday. >>d

or gun accessory. t, the nra has said they want the federal government, specifically the atf, bureau of alcohol tobacco and firearms to take a look whether it violates federal laws. there should be some restrictions on the accessories that allow the guns to be essentially firing as automatic weapons. meantime, we're hearing the same thing from the white house now. spokeswoman saying that the president is willing to consider this ban and very much wants to be involved in discussions about it here on capitol hill. republican leaders like paul ryan have said they want to take a look at it. they're open to this. democrats, obviously, pushing hard for it. interestingly, it could be the first small opening that we've seen where democrats and republicans might be able to agree on some things involving gun control. certainly, it doesn't address
