the door this morning, you may need the wipers on high. good morning everyone. i'm molette green. starting things off in the weather center with sheena parveen. i mean, muggy is the word of the morning right now. >> we've been complaining about our hair because it's so humid outside. this is the most humid it's been in a while. >> i gave up on my hair. >> it is because of tropical air. don't be surprised when you walk outside this morning. it is muggier than normal or lately. it's all because of tropical depression nate. that's the rain you see to the west. that tropical depression is going to bring us rain for the morning drive. right now, it's entering fauquier county, la ray and the green is showing us the lighter rain. to the west, the yellow coloring to the edge of your screen, that's where we get into the heavier rain. it's breezy outside, too. look at this south wind coming in sustained around 15 miles an hour for part of the

that humidity as well before that rain arrives. temperatures mid-70s. we'll not be cooling down today. coming up closer, look at the timing of the rain for your morning. molette? >> sheena, thanks so much. let's get right to the stories we're following this morning. a lot of you probably waking up to an alert from our nbc washington app about the trump administration's demands for a new daca deal. also a lot of attention especially on twitter, vice president pence walks out of an nfl game after players protest the national anthem. moving over. harvey weinstein is out. what we're learning about his firing after a slew of sexual harassment claims. as sheena mentioned, what was hurricane nate is headed our way. another look at what to expect, as well as the cleanup under way in the south after

this weekend. first this morning, to that list of demands that could derail any hope of a deal shielding thousands of young immigrants. they released a set of priorities that must be included in any agreement to extend the deferred action for childhood arrivals or the daca program. the trump administration announced it was rescinding the program last month. the list includes overhauling the green card system. a crackdown on unaccompanied minors entering the country and building that border wall. democrats are blasting the priorities saying the border wall is a nonstarter. now we want to go to a story that has a lot of you talking this morning. vice president mike pence walking out of yesterday's indianapolis colts game when some players took a knee

it wasn't long after the anthem that the vice president left the game. a senior official for mr. pence says the decision to walk out was planned ahead of time. the vice president defended his decision, tweeting that he left because he and president trump will not dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our flag and our national anthem. he went on to say he didn't think it was too much to ask nfl players to respect the flag and our national anthem. president trump weighing in, saying he asked mr. pence to leave if any players kneeled. one player is calling pence's move a pr stunt. >> with the information that i have, the last time he's been to a colts game is three years ago. this looks like a pr stunt to me. he knew -- i've seen this happen. he knew

going do it again. >> the official for the vice president says mr. pence was hopeful of all -- that all of the players would stand during the anthem. mr. pence served as the governor of indiana before becoming vice president. it is the news rocking hollywood this morning. big-time movie producer harvey weinstein has been fired by his own company. the cover of the new york daily news says it all. harrv heaved. several women, including ashley judd accused him of sexual harassment. after the times article came out, several high-profile powered women threatened to stop working with that company if weinstein stayed. in a statement to the times, weinstein apologized for his behavior. nate is

heads towards our area. the storm is now a tropical depression. this morning, people along the gulf coast are cleaning up after all of that damage it left behind. those are the sights and sounds of the storm. flooding and storm surge were big problems. dan scheneman reports that while nate brought a lot of wind and water, things could have been a lot worse. >> reporter: hurricane nate slammed into the gulf coast as a category 1 storm. the storm surge washed over roads in biloxi. the golden nugget hotel and casino was filled with water. dauphin island was hit with the storm's worst. >> we had a

our yard. about two feet of water in the bottom of our house. just a lot of mud and debris. >> reporter: roadways were impassable and reports of widespread outages on the island. meanwhile, it washed some things ashore. many residents are breathing a sigh of relief. >> we got very lucky. really impressive that we haven't had so much damage as expected. >> reporter: while crews worked to remove debris and repair power lines, for many residents, life is back to normal. >> we're walking on the beach looking for shells. it's much better than i thought yesterday. >> reporter: the threat from nate is over. but the atlantic hurricane season is not. it runs until the end of november. dan scheneman, nbc news. all right. what's left of nate coming this way. sheena parveen watching closely. lots of mugginess this morning to talk about. it's thick. >> this is the

right now this morning, apologizing for an ad that thousands of social media users are calling racist. the ad, which appeared on facebook shows a black woman taking off her shirt to reveal a white woman. the backlash was swept with many saying they won't support the company anymore. dove tweeted a statement saying, in part, it missed the mark in representing women of color thoughtfully. watch what happens when you have 90,000 people in a stadium and think decide to pay tribute to a rock 'n roll legend.

♪ >> that entire crowd at the florida gators game burst into song to honor the late tom petty. it happened between the third and fourth quarter saturday. florida's athletic director says they wanted to celebrate petty, who was from gainesville. they chose one of the biggest hits, i won't back down. petty died last week after going into cardiac arrest. if you're a star wars fan, you will want to get ready for monday night football. that's because the trailer for the highly anticipated new star wars film, the last jedi, premieres tonight. that trailer will debut during halftime. tickets for the film that opens in december, will go on sale sometime after that. i feel like we need palm trees outside right here and we could be basking in some sort of tr

police want to know why the car they were in was speeding downhill crest drive causing it to go off the road and slam into trees last night. a third person had minor injuries. you're enjoying lower gas prices this morning as things continue to get back to normal following hurricanes harvey and irma. right now in d.c., you're paying $2.49. that's $.17 cheaper than a month ago. in maryland gas runs $2.43 on average. gas is about $2.33 a gallon in virginia and west virginia. gas is running about $2.56 a gallon. the nats are hoping to take the lead in the national league division series with a win over the cowboyser cubs. t series is tied up 1-1. matt scherzer will get the start. carol maloney is in chicago covering the game.

stop. but for those of you still commuting, still driving, your commute, sunny and breezy. some of the rain could be heavy by noon. 81 degrees. a couple showers around. we could have a few stragglers in the afternoon. look at these temperatures. we'll be back in the 80s today. we're talking about a lot of humidity. wind speeds right now across the area, they're coming from the south. they're sustained from 10 to 15 miles an hour. so this south wind is really pulling in that humidity for us. take a look at the radar. we have light rain from frederick to leesburg, warrenton. quantico may be seeing a few light showers soon. if you look off to the west, this is where we have the heavier rain. this is tropical depression nate. it has finally made its way inland and the rain is going to be heading here in time for the morning rush. we'll take a closer look at the timing and what you can expect later on coming up. let's check the roads. jack taylor at
