the campus police say they brought the suspect in for questioning on drug charges earlier. the suspect pulled a gun and shot and killed that officer. the gunman was on the run for more than an hour. we have just learned he is once again in custody. that campus was on lock down for a time. more breaking news. a woman in fairfax county is dead this evening. she was hit and killed by a car along route one here in lor ton at the intersection of galston road. chopper 4 was over the scene, it's not clear if she was along the road or crossing at the time. the driver did stay on the scene. we learned in a past few hours officers shot and killed a miami woman on the beach celebrating her birthday. >> police say kari ann highathon ran over the officer. this is a video from bystander showing theff

>> kari highathon filled with saturday. his daughter kari an was killed while celebrating her 22nd birthday. >> what heck could have gone wrong? >> kari an grew up in bowie maryland and enrolled tampa university. the trouble started on sunday night when police say highathon was speeding in a black bm w, ran a reality. she later ran from the scene and hit another car. officer david ordered highathon to get out of her car. she ran over here and police fired several shots hitting her. she died at a hospital. >> that kind of activity is not rational.
