right now, there are massive power outages. getting information out is getting difficult. this is new video of one huge wildfire in orange county. the side of a mountain is on fire and advancing towards the highway. there are more than a dozen fires burning and emergency teams are asking tens of thousands of people to evacuate their homes. some are even rescuing people by helicopter. at this point, it's too early to know how bad the damage is. i lived in california for eight years. i covered a lot of those fires. it is tough, tough going. these fires are impacting the happiest place on earth. look at the video. the fire left an eerie orange glow over disney. these images are bizarre. it looks like the sky was painted orange, in fact. some visitors

raining down. the park remained open all day. cal fire says the fire near disneyland is 5% contained. developing at 4:31. this is video of police near tex tech tech taking a 19-year-old student into custody. he's accused of shooting a police officer. daniels was taken into custody after they found drugs in his dorm room. while he was at the campus police station, he allegedly shot a campus officer and then took off. after a manhunt shall daniels was taken into custody. this morning a family in bowie is heartbroken and waiting for answers. their daughter was killed in a police-involved shooting in miami beach over the weekend. she was celebrating her 22nd birthday. >> it's hard to express the amount of pain and distress you feel. >> hithon grew up in bowie and was attending temple university. she was speed

sunday night, ran a red light and crashed into a car. she allegedly drove away from the scene and hit another car. police say they tried to block her in but she didn't stop. she ran over an officer and that's when police fired several shots, hitting her. she later died at the hospital. >> that kind of activity is not rational. i can't explain why she wouldn't have listened to command. >> her father says she is waiting for autopsy results. the toxicology report will determine whether hithon was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. some parents have more questions than answers this morning after teens used an app to talk about killing a classmate. this involves some students who go to liberty high school in fauquier county. a group of six students used a gaming app called discord and talked about a "operation will to kill." worried parents voiced concerns to the school board last night and some walked out of the meeting because twe

upset. they're angry that the students will not be charged with any crimes here. in the app, the students referenced a school shooter list and even talked about a lynching. fauquier's sheriff explains the lack of action. >> after a thorough investigation and working with the officer and commonwealth's attorney, it didn't rise to the level of a criminal violation of law. >> what is to keep this from happening again? what is to keep another child from sending a threatening message to someone and saying i'm not going to be punished. >> some parents called for the students to be expelled. >> school officials say they could not talk about punishment specifically because of privacy issues. but understandably parents are -- >> scary stuff out there. >> allowing your child to continue to go to class. it may be very upsetting. >> absolutely. the montgomery county school board will consider scrapping spring break. you heard that correctly. >> what? >> it's a story only on news 4. the board is conside

we're following breaking news out west where more than a dozen wildfires are racing through california. just take a look at this video. high winds are spreading the fires and the flames are burning out of control. nbc's jennifer bjorklund is live in northern california where a number of people have been killed. jennifer? >> reporter: chris, here in napa, two of those deaths are an elderly couple that died in one of these burned-out homes behind me. they had just celebrated 75 years together. the husband was 100, she was 99. their care-giver could not get them out in time. there are ten confirmed deaths in this fire so far. we do have reports of at least 100 missing persons. unfortunately, that number is expected to rise. more than 73,000 acres have burned. 1500 homes and businesses, includ

hotel in santa rosa that burned for hours and hours. also, an historic dairy and winery. meteorologists say the weather has calmed down overnight. nothing like it was sunday night to monday morning where everything was a confluence of single digit humidity, gusty winds. in fact, we may not see conditions all coming together like for another 50 years. officials are calling this the worst incident of wildfire in northern california since the oakland hills fire in 1991. the firefight continues and we're expecting updates on numbers. those numbers all expected to rise this morning. i'm jennifer bjorklund live in napa. back to you. >> jennifer, thank you. it's 4:47. republican senators have been mostly quiet about the back and forth between president trump and senator bob corker. >> but the feud could have an affect on your wallet. corker is an important effort in taxes.
