breaking news. >> that breaking news, wildfires continue to rage across the state of california. flames, morning winds are starting to whip back up leaving officials fearing even more death and destruction. another breaking story this morning, a shooting in the district claiming the lives of two people. our crews going to the scene working to get the very latest information on a possible suspect. a karate teacher accused of sexual abuse. why police want to know whether there are more victims and who's coming to the instructor's defense. rain, rain go away. not another rain delay. what we can expect as the nationals try to hold on to their postseason life in just a matter of hours. the clock is ticking. >> i feel like we're going through this all over again. the buildup yesterday, the anxiety, now like, okay, cool your heels. you have another day to go through this again. >> we are med dating before the show. >> it's not healthy at this point to be waiting because you're getting more anxious. >> exactly. >>tr

>> i'm glad they didn't start playing yesterday -- >> good point. >> -- and then stop so they kind of delayed it and it was like, all right, no go. >> we're getting rain here, is that right? >> yeah, we have some rain around the area. it's mostly south of the district. here's a look around washington, northern virginia, parts of maryland seeing mainly just low clouds and a few sprinkles here and there. now we look down to the south. now you see where the real rain is down around fredericksburg. if you are around fredericksburg heading north of -- north on 95 you'll be running into some dryer conditions. calvert county still seeing that rain. mainly southern parts of calvert county and to the south. that's where we have heavier rain. that's mainly going to slide to the south and stay to the south. we can see a couple more showers across the district. your wakeup weather is still going to be on the warm side. 7:00 a.m., chance of showers. 8:00 a.m. as well. even 9:00, hold onto the rain chance today. not a complete washout. make sure you

we'll take a look at the forecast through the afternoon. jack taylor, how's it looking, jack? >> well, sheena, dry for now in certain spots. we'll see how long that lasts. rock creek parkway down to the kennedy, traffic alternating by one direction at a time. they'll be there for another hour. crews may wrap up early on 70 leaving mount airy headed westbound. the left lane gets by the paving project without delay. again, that could clear as some of the weather rolls through. otherwise our beltway is off to a pretty decent start. as we all know, there are certain hot spots where it is slick. be very cautious. maybe leave four or five minutes early to make sure it's an uneventful ride. thank you. angie, eun, back to you. jack, thank you. we continue to follow breaking news right now. there's been a triple shooting in northwest d.c. in a neighborhood there and it's just blocks from several local schools near georgia avenue. >> this was the scene overnight as you can see here just how large the police presence

justin finch who has the latest. what's going on, justin? >> reporter: hey there, eun. hours later, still very heavy police presence out here. much of it trained on this home behind us here. we have seen police go in and out of that white house just behind us there and also, too, we know nearby that home three people were shot. three men, two of them have died, one has been taken to the hospital. now d.c. police did rush here just after midnight to the shooting scene. we're at eighth street between rock borrow place and brittain house street northwest. as you can see, this is a residential neighborhood just off of georgia avenue not far from paul public high school and coolish high. this kind of news, a triple shooting in an area like this near schools, near families will have a lot of people on edge. and now this as well. word that shooter may still be out there possibly escaping in a black bmw 3

that's a smaller sedan there. we are also hearing as well that 6200 block of eighth street northwest will be closed through the morning rush as police continue to investigate this deadly triple shooting. we're live from northwest. i'm justin finch, news 4, back in to you. >> justin, thank you. 5:04 now. we continue to follow that breaking news out of california. look at this damage. this is drone video showing the destruction in northern california. this used to be a neighborhood as you can see. it's been reduced to ash. it's unrecognizable at this point. >> you see so many cars also there. people didn't have time to get out. the worst of the damage is concentrated in california's wine country during what's usually a very busy tourist time. at least 17 people are dead. more than 100 still missing this hour. although fire crews made some progress yesterday, today s, wi could set them back. >> news 4's chris

and destruction. dire situation. >> i look at those pictures, eun. it looks like a bomb went off. take a look at this new video from overnight. you can see the flames continue to burn out of control, and it seems like there's no end in site. cal fire says there are 17 fires burning across the state right now, but they're focused on the ones north of san francisco. they're already among the deadliest in california's history, and as fire crews are able to search more neighborhoods, they expect the death toll to rise. so far the fires have destroyed some 2,000 homes and buildings in napa. more than a dozen wineries have been damaged. five of them just a complete loss. back to you. >> chris, thank you. just a terrible situation there. many parents are still learning about the disturbing allegations against a karate instructor in gaithersburg. frank pugarita is charged with sexually abusing a 15-year-old st

county that he inappropriately touched her between january and june of this year. despite those allegations, dozens of kids and their parents showed up to support the instructor last night. >> he helped me a lot at times when i was bullied when i was younger, i was bullied. he taught me to stand up for myself and he taught me basically everything i know today. >> detectives say there may be other victims. they want parents to speak to their children to see whether there was any inappropriate contact with pugarita. we continue to follow a lot of developments surround being harvey weinstein. "people" magazine reporting that his wife of a decade is now leaving him amid the growing accusations of sexual misconduct. now the latest accusations now include angelina jolie and again net paltrow. that's on top of the new report from the new yorker magazine that 13 women say they were harassed or assaulted by weinstein. the

you're watching "news 4 toda today". we're done. you're under arrest. we're done. >> no! no! somebody help me. stop. >> this morning the police officer at the center of this shocking recording is without a job. you remember seeing this. salt lake city detective jeff haine was let go tuesday following an internal investigation into the arrest of a nurse, alex rubble. the investigation showed that he violated department policies during the july arrest. rubbles refused to draw blood from a patient without a warrant. well, believe it or not, the controversy over nfl protests during the national anthem may be about to get even bigger.

front and center when league owners meet next week. in a letter to teams yesterday commissioner roger goodell expressed a belief that everyone should stand for the anthem. he also says the league has developed a plan on the issue that it will present next week. still unclear whether standing during the anthem will be made mandatory. well, the model at the center of this controversial dove ad campaign is speaking out. the nigerian model said she had no clue or no idea the final cut of the ad that was supposed to celebrate diversity would turn out the way that it did. she says that she and the other models were excited and eager to represent women of all shades. if she had known about the final edit, she says she would have left the set. dove has apologized for the ad. >> dove has had a history of celebrating women's beauty of all kinds, all shapes and sizes and to see this ad from dove was a big surprise. >> and it has

and southern delaware. if we look a little bit farther up to the north, north of charlestown, we are mainly dry. we have a few very light sprinkles moving through. now we're kind of seeing a dryer area. we still have the chance for scattered showers and take the time before you leave and throughout the afternoon we could see a few spotty showers around. either way, it will be cloudy, gloomy day. cooler. 74 mild this morning. 72 frederick. 71 clinton through the afternoon. these temperatures are not really going to warm up very much. not like yesterday. here's future weather. by 8:00 a.m. you still notice a lot of the rain mainly south of the district. a few spotty showers trying to develop through the afternoon. mainly just cloudy with a few isolated showers possible. temperature wise, normal high 70 degrees. today 76. that's going to be ten degrees cooler than yesterday.

right now. is it still pretty humid out there? >> me and lauren were fighting over who was going to come outside. she really, really wanted to. why don't you wait until it gets less humid. you can then come outside. yes, it's very humid out here this morning. it is warm and humid, but as we go through the day, it's actually not going to get too hot, not like yesterday. we'll stay in the mid 70s. here's a look at the radar. in northern virginia, a few sprinkles. showing more showers trying to develop around the 6:00 or 7:00 hour. we'll see because it looks pretty dry as we get farther north of now this line of rain which will be around fredericksburg. your commute this morning, the further south you are the better chance you have for hitting some rain showers. the rest of the area you might want to grab a small umbrella. we'll take a look at the cooldown and then a warmup. let's check theoa

morning with jack taylor. good morning, jack. >> good morning, sheena. our trouble is in maryland 95 going northbound. authorities are on scene. we also have some trouble out in loudoun county. eastbound business route 7. accident occurred. 7 has now been closed both directions east of 704. apparently we did have a vehicle involved in a crash underneath a tanker truck. a lot of equipment headed to the scene. we have work in northwest at the rock creek parkway near the kennedy center. traffic alternating directions. angie, eun, back to you. >> jack, thanks so much. time is 5:32. breaking news in arlington. crews are on the scene of this massive house fire on north ivy street. >> situation unfolding quickly. news 4's kristen wright there. what's going on? >> reporter: yeah, we got here and i thought, wow, let me show you. take a look at the house here. it is completely gutted. we know the fire srt

you see here on the porch members of the fire marshall's office as well as arlington county fire. they are here trying to figure out exactly what happened. if you take a close look here, you can tell it was very, very bad. we have a picture we want to show you that arlington fire tweeted out just a little while ago. it shows the house literally a ball of fire. just absolutely glowing. we have another picture that the fire department also tweeted out. it shows the rescue. you see the ladder going up to a side window of the house. firefighters tell me they went up there and rescued a person who was inside of this house. that person right now taken to the hospital in critical condition. so here's what i just learned from firefighters. they tell me that three people were inside of this house and that two of them were able to get out of the house on their own. they were able to tell firefighters there was a third person in

>> reporter: yeah. no, angie, eun, you're absolutely right. i want to give you a closer look at this home. it is a scene playing out across northern california right now. you can see it entirely gutted by the flames here. really devastating anything in their path. this neighborhood, others across the region swallowed by those flames over the last couple of days. and as you talk about the fire still growing, let's give you the numbers. at least 17 dead, 185 injured. more than 100 still missing. we know that 2,000 homes or businesses have been devastated by these flames. 20,000 evacuated. that number is growing. in fact, evacuations continued overnight in this region. now we do know that a federal disaster declaration has been signed by the president. what that means is fire management assistance in money, grants will come to this area. that will

really help fight this blaze. we don't have any real wind to speak of right now. great news for the teams on the front lines. they've been able overnight with an easing of conditions to make a little bit of progress. this is in no way contained or even close to being contained. that's going to take some time and there is a big concern right knew that the flames -- that the wind's going to pick up overnight into thursday morning fanning and pushing those flames. ladies? >> all right. jay gray live for us in napa. jay, thanks so much. >> completely devastated there. >> feel so bad for them. >> still dealing with these fires. cutting your taxes at the top of the agenda for president trump today. >> he's headed to pennsylvania to make the pitch for the republican tax reform program. news 4's tracie potts is live on capitol hill. >> where does this plan stand in congress right now? >> reporter: they're working on it. they're still adjusting the president said changing things around, likely to negotiate to get more support but also
