route 50. what's the latest, justin? >> reporter: angie, some relief here that we are seeing some progress in bound route 50. right behind us you can see the remains of this crash. this is a tow truck that appears to have crashed into the median here, perhaps overturned in the process here. look at that heavy front end damage. as you can see, traffic is moving here. this is route 50 between veterans parkway and landover road now reduced to one lane of traffic as this crash is now being cleared up here. that is the latest live. back in to you. >> justin, thank you. this morning d.c. police are trying to figure out who called in reports of an active shooter at howard university. >> two calls reported a gunman on campus yesterday. police never found anyone. now if you have our nbc washington app, you definitely got that breaking news alert that calls came during a busy and historic week for the university. howard

travel ban is being held up by the court. a federal judge said it's based on nationality. edward, going forward, what happens next? >> reporter: what happens next is the supreme court could take this up. if they don't take it up, if they decide to pass on it, then this ban of the ban remains in effect and stays. this hawaiian judge made this ruling just ten hours actually before the travel ban was set to take effect. the judge saying they lack evidence showing that people coming into the united states would be harmful to the united states also saying that it discriminated against specific nationalities. the trump administration is saying this was written as of the lessons learned from the original travel ban. it asks for more information from foreign governments on the person who is traveling to make sure they are who they actually say they are. the trump administration
