morning. authorities dealing with a crash. left lane closed with only a single file lane getting by. newest trouble spot is going to be on 66 eastbound at 29 in centerville. accident activity along the right side of the roadway. has caused a little bit of a delay coming out of manassas. again with the tractor-trailer involved in the crash along the right side of the roadway. back in to you. >> jack, thanks. as we just mentioned, you may want to avoid route 50 obviously in landover. >> earlier crash is causing problems in that area. news 4's justin finch has more from the scene. >> reporter: if your morning rides brings you through in bound route 50 from prince gorges county, you might have to deal with this at some point. this is a crash involving what appears to be a tow truck. that crash overturned here right here off in bound route 15 between veterans parkway and landover road. this happening overnight here. the resulting cleanup has left traffic reduc

going into the district. again, this is a tow truck that did crash here overnight. right now they are working to right that tow truck and tow it from the scene, however, there are reports that fuel did spill here on the roadway so that will also be a clean upprocess here as well. we are working to find out if there are any injuries. it tied up traffic in bound on route 50. if you are coming through the area, you might want to use your alternate just in case. that is the latest and now back in to you. >> thanks to justin finch there. 5:04. following a developing story right now. several families from a silver spring apartment building have to find somewhere else to live. a fire damaged several units inside the building on schuyler road yesterday. montgomery county fire says the tenant on the first floor was smoking a cigarette while wearing an oxygen mask. that sparked a fire and it quickly spread to other parts of

linda lopez pulled up to her building last night and saw all those fire trucks and smoke, she immediately worried about her mother who was inside. >> thankfully as soon as i got off the phone with 911 she was already by my car and i literally put her in the car and drove to the other side because i was by the fire. >> firefighters had to help get some people out of the building. the tenants who started the fire had to go to the hospital. we've learned more about this fire from chopper 4. stumbled on it in the anne arundel county of laurel. >> you can see the fire -- the intensity of this thing. actually at some point, there, caused some explosions. the anne arundel fire department said several storage containers caught fire last night. it took firefighters about an hour to get things under control. firefighters are not sure exactly at this point still what caused the explosions or how the firert

we do have some breaking news to report. >> chris lawrence at the live desk now. chris, what's happening here? >> reporter: someone tried to steal an atm in prince gorges county. this is the dash in gas station on woodyard yard in maryland. this is on the back side of joint base andrews. it looks like a truck smashed into the store, tried to hook up one of the pumps and tried to pull the atm out of that store. it didn't work and the suspects got away. you can see it ripped nearly the entire front half of that store off. we have news 4's justin finch heading to the scene right now. he's going to be able to give us a live picture of that scene and maybe get more information about what happened there. at the live desk, chris laurence, news 4, back to you. thanks so much. one of our local police departments is beefing up its gang unit.

the montgomery police department is spending $1 million in this cause. john mccarthy says they're going to root out gang activity in schools. they're going to target the leadership. gangs were responsible for 18 homicides in the county in the past two years. well, you might remember this. safe track work on metro. it scared away a lot of riders. >> but now the city of alexandria wants for blue line riders to rediscover metro. news 4's darby spencer to explain how they're using a back to blue campaign. darcy? >> reporter: well, good morning. thousands of people use metro to get to work every day. if the train is late, chances are you're going to be late. you can see people already lined up waiting for the next train, and if you are late for work, you're not going to be very popular with the boss. so metro has been working to improve rush hour

here along the blue line, specifically in alexandria. it's been brought down to 8 minutes. this is affecting the blue and yellow lines. especially good news here in alexandria. because it affects the stations that service this area, braddock road, king street, van doorn do well as eisenhower avenue. a democratic congresswoman says that the president was insensitive to the widow of a soldier. fredricka wilson was with johnson's widow when his body arrived in miami. wilson overheard part of a conversation between the president and johnson's widow and was shocked by something t

today." 88 people are still missing this morning in california following that massive wild fire in wine country. the national guard is now on the ground helping sift through all this rubble on the burnt down homes. 41 people have died and nearly 6,000 homes are destroyed. 34,000 people are still under an evacuation order this morning and firefighters say they're making progress putting out the wild fire, but there's so much more work to be done. the cleanup is going to take months and years. look at all of that devastation. intense cleanup in alexandria. >> three high rice buildings have been affected. authorities are working to keep that spill from contaminating other buildings. a below ground pump malfunctioned at a nearby liberty gas station on

more than 5,000 gallons of gas poured towards three high rises. some residents complained of not feeling well and wondering if they will have lasting health impacts. >> the first time i was a resident and very concerned. there is fear that the fumes can be long-term effects for health. >> environmental quality is monitoring the cleanup. so far only 400 gallons have been recovered. getting the gas out of the soil, that could take years. the head of amazon studios has resigned after being accused of sexual harassment. last week a producer told the hollywood reporter roy price repeatedly propositioned her for sex at the san diego comic-con in july 2015. the woman reported the incident to amazon executives immediately. the company did not suspend price during the investigation or after it. the company did note a release in the statement of price's resignation.

more allegations of sexual harassment against the weinstein family. this time a female show runner is accusing harvey weinstein's brother, bob, of unwanted advances. he is the one wearing glasses in this picture. amanda siegel told variety that bob weinstein repeatedly made romantic gestures towards her and asked her to join him for private dinners. it started in 2016 and continued on and off for three months. a represent for bob weinstein denied that he engaged in any inappropriate behavior. more than 30 women have come forward accusing harvey weinstein of sexual harassment and assault. yesterday harvey weinstein stepped down from the film company he started with his brother. this morning we are taking a few minutes to recognize an iconic career. donnie simpson. true original. smooth voice. beautiful eyes. d.c. staple for 40 years. what a career. >> he's f-n

suspect or suspects in this case were after. close to 2:30 this morning inside. we spoke to a guy, he says at that point he saw a pickup truck approach this buildill building. he began to ram the end. that is when he made a go for it. this is what he told us a short time ago. >> first i'm thinking it's like an accident, but then like i saw the truck move forward and then try to back up again to that atm. that's when i grabbed my phone. i went straight to the back room where the bathroom was at, locked myself in there. >> reporter: of course, his instance was to run to safety, call police and the police did come out here. at this point police are trying to piece together the suspect in this case getting more on the vehicle as well. as you can see, this is a huge, massive gas station that

some breaking news here at the live desk. a woman who just escaped a terrorist group associated with the taliban has now been rushed to the hospital. doctors are treating caitlyn coleman formal nourishment, dehydration and mental fatigue. they have held them for the past five years. we've seen video of her husband and children since they returned but very little of her. that's likely because she was rushed to the hospital after the rescue last week. coleman's husband, joshua boyle, took this photo. he said terrorists raped his wife in captivity and killed one of their

court could choose not to hear the case leaving in place this ban on the travel ban. the hawaii judge made this travel ban orbaned the travel ban just 13 hours before it was set to go into effect. he said the government did not show that there would be harmful effects of the people coming into this country on the united states. also he said it discriminated against certain nationalities. you may remember president trump appointed the last supreme court justice so if the supreme court does take this up, it could go in his favor. again, you'll have to wait to see what they do. >> edward lawrence live on capitol hill. thank you. a judge's decision is a win for people who have been opposed to this travel ban. >> that is not stopping them from protesting. this is the website no muslim ban ever. it's a campaign being led by several organizations calling a travel ban. they're holding a rally and

house. so the former head of the prince gorges licker board could be headed to prison. david sun pleaded guilty. he pled guilty to charges. he said he took payments from store owners who wanted liquor licenses. two former state delegates are also charged in connection with this investigation. sun will be sentenced in january. we spent months working for you covering the safe track work on metro. the project scared away a lot of metro riders as well.

>> metro is working to improve the rush hour wait times. they've been able to bring the times down from 12 minutes to 8 minutes. during the morning time that can make a big difference. that's on the blue and yellow lines here in this area. service times have been reduced during the safe track maintenance program. now metro wants riders who may have stopped riding trains to come back and they're calling it back 2 blue. >> what do you think about eight minutes versus 12 minutes. will that 4 minutes make a difference? >> we want it 8 minutes. >> i'd say a longer wait time in the last couple of months. it seems like it's gotten slower and slower. >> reporter: now we hear that a lot. a lot of pe
